I am most unsure about dangly earrings...

MIL gave me a pair
they are quite pretty, long rods of silver and lapis lazuli striped horizonatally

BUT
I have not worn dangly earrings for many a year

They make me feel odd
and a bit like Pat Butcher (even though they are small and not ugly)

mm i know, i like them when my hair is long, otherwise they sort of stand out, whatever they're like.

Then you should wear them in front of someone who will compliment you on them - then you will be convinced.

coddy · 23/07/2007 19:11

you are wierd

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:11

dh did
he said they looked glam
but odd as I always wear diamond studs

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:11

why
what is weird about this?

Incidentally have not taken said diamond studs out for many a moon
they were very whiffy

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 23/07/2007 19:15

I only wear them with my hair down
or with hair up for truly glam black tie stuff.

if I wear long earrings, hair back and glasses I look like a mad hippy art teacher type.

PrettyCandles · 23/07/2007 19:15

Having worn studs for years once I started having children, I have suddenly gone right over to danglies. I blame my aunt for having given me such lovely ones . It did feel odd at first, but ds2 has only once whipped one out of my ear. And it was much more painful when he pulled a stud out!

Earrings do get whiffy when worn day-in day-out. Scrub them with a little vodka.

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:16

yes yes
that is a problem

OP posts:
coddy · 23/07/2007 19:16

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:16

and scrub ears too

coddy · 23/07/2007 19:17

yes i think you haev to be carefu

atmt he in dangel to haev are slightly hippyish indain ones

or hoops

Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:18

disageww - danglies look great with short hair or hair up. But you need the gamine/elfin features (often sadly not possible post 30 or so)

I just wear small/mediumish hoops these days

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:18

Hoops not dangly per se though are they

These are small thin rods
with an extra bit to cover the hole iykwim

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:19

i am 40

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:19

think i will stick to my stinky studs

OP posts:
coddy · 23/07/2007 19:20

boring

Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:21

sorry I meant short hair/gamine/elfin is generally for under 30s unless you have are lucky - don't worry I'm older than you!

Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:22

take the studs out for a day

and get rid of that black gunge

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:24

WHAT black gunge???

OP posts:
Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:26

take them out and see

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:28

i have
there is none

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 23/07/2007 19:30

IME the gunge accumulates more if you go without any earrings at all for a week or two

then you put some in and the post pushes a lump of yuck through

eww
