I am most unsure about dangly earrings...

MIL gave me a pair
they are quite pretty, long rods of silver and lapis lazuli striped horizonatally

BUT
I have not worn dangly earrings for many a year

They make me feel odd
and a bit like Pat Butcher (even though they are small and not ugly)

Danglies ok as long as not worn with elaborate necklaces and/or big bracelets. One or t'other.

I am 40 and am happy, nay proud to dangle on occasion.

CountessDracula · 23/07/2007 19:32

I am 45 and nearly always wear danglies now that ds is of an age not to fiddle with them any more. I don't think I look that odd

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 23/07/2007 19:35

i quite like that gunky earring smell in a weirdy/sick way

Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:53

god I feel ill now dirtygertie (understand why you chose your nickname )

PrettyCandles · 23/07/2007 21:04

But only your own, surely, DirtyGertie?

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 23/07/2007 21:14

lol! yes, just my own ear gunk!

I dont have a habit of sniffing in other peoples jewellery boxes to get a fix!

smurfgirl · 23/07/2007 22:43

Dangly earrings look amazing with hair in ponytails. Oooh.

I think they can look hippy if you dress hippy kwim? Smart non-hippy clothes+danglies =fab.

And I so thought I was the only one with smelly earrings

You get the black gunk if you don't wear gold.

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:44

god no
hippy art teacher
or
try-hard lentil weaver

MrsBadger · 23/07/2007 22:47

I have an informal workplace with no dress code so am sure I always look like a hippy. The mat smocks don't help either...

Really, (and weirdly) the glasses honestly make a huge difference. Chnages the proportions of my face or somehting.

smurfgirl · 23/07/2007 22:48

nooooooo harpsicordcuddler.

TRENDY.

I SOOOOOOOO don't look like an old hippy in mine. Urgh.

I do wear glasses though.

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:49

the earrings sound lovely though
I have some gorgeous pairs from the 80s the last time I wore some my friend said I looked like a viola player
I do not believe this was a compliment

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:50

I think I am too old perhaps
(Mrs B I went to the supermarket and there was NO bread and NO bottled water and NO milk I smell panic)
sorry for hijakc

SoMuchToBits · 23/07/2007 22:51

Viola player deffo not a compliment! LOL!

(clarinet player myself)

SoMuchToBits · 23/07/2007 22:52

Where do you live, harpsi?

smurfgirl · 23/07/2007 22:53

Its how you wear them, you have to be dressed classicly to carry them off.

I discovered danglies 5 years ago and I love them. Accessorise and warehouse are best for them i think.

And def with a ponytail to avoid looking like hippy if thats a worry.

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:53

South Oxfordshire
near the bursting banks of the Thames

JackieNo · 23/07/2007 22:53

Harpsi - where was this? DH did a shop on Sunday and said it was perfectly normal in Tescos.

smurfgirl · 23/07/2007 22:53

Bad spelling there, sorry.

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:55

D**cot Sainsburys Jackie
I think everyone is a bit panicky, and I think lots of people are coming over from Abingdon. a few people in the village have been flooded but nothing serious.
I was just thinking about you, how is your village?

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:55
JackieNo · 23/07/2007 22:56

So far so good Harpsi - would have been flooded on Friday if I hadn't been around to stop people whizzing through a huge puddle outside our house though.

My dh is on an early music course just outside Gloucester, and they are camping (although rehaersals and food provided indoors). He phoned at 2pm and said so far they still have running water...

Sorry, this has nothing to do with earrings, but I still like danglies, and often get them from Accessorize, M&S or Next.

harpsichordcuddler · 23/07/2007 22:58

yes will start new thread
SORRY
