45, size 18.

Elder DD (17) says no - too much pattern.

Younger DD (12) says yes - lots of pattern.

Both DS just shrugged...

Also just cane onto say you do not look size 18!

HarryDaylight · 22/05/2019 21:24

The navy top in the second photo is too tight, cutting in to your armpits, and is unflattering.

Perhaps you could size up to make the fit slightly more relaxed, or choose a different top in a plain colour.

BogglesGoggles · 22/05/2019 21:26

I like it. Who cares if there’s too much pattern?

CountFosco · 22/05/2019 21:28

I think the stripy tshirt looks fab with the patterned trews. Excellent pattern clashing. Just needs white trainers or loafers and you're good to go.

RuthW · 22/05/2019 21:46

You can't wear both together. The trousers also look like Christmas puddings.

Knitclubchatter · 22/05/2019 22:09

the website display of the wide cropped trousers with the wide cropped top really is what you need to aim for.
the fitted with the baggy doesn't work for me, neither does adding extra pattern (stripped top).

cuppycakey · 22/05/2019 22:21

OK OP, You CANNOT wear that first stripy t shirt with those trousers.

Promise me!! Grin Grin

The trousers really suit you - again, you really do not look like a size 18.

As you, like me, are large of norkage, I would wear a navy v neck t - shirt. PLAIN.

What do you mean, you don't have a jacket? You live in Cornwall woman, where it rains for 48 weeks of the year!

GeorgeTheBleeder · 22/05/2019 22:31

Yes she can!

Here’s your jacket OP.

(Plenty of choice of you don’t like that one, though it seems to have been made for you. Probably a 48.)

GeorgeTheBleeder · 22/05/2019 22:37

Also think you’d like these. They’re shown with a wonderfully stripy jacket here.

Tavannach · 22/05/2019 22:37

T shirt not the vest top. I'm a bit conflicted about the stripes. I like them, but they are the wrong colour. An plain orange t shirt on the other hand looks fab. I think navy is too safe.

Justgivemesomepeace · 22/05/2019 22:40

Id wear a plain white tshirt, not tucked in and white sandals or pumps. Im the same size as you.

Susanna88 · 22/05/2019 22:49

You look great!
I like both the trousers and the original top. I might not wear them together as I'm not very brave, but it looks fine. I'd perhaps wear a tighter fitting plain top with it - I like the navy vest, as a safer option. Lovely relaxed outfit.
Also, I would have put you more a 12-14 rather than an 18 .. are you sure?
Enjoy wearing those lovely trousers. If you feel good you'll look good.

flowery · 22/05/2019 22:50

I would definitely wear a fitted top with those (or any wide) trousers. Wide top + wide trousers = look bigger than you are. Much more flattering to have a streamlined top half or bottom half imo. Your silhouette in the navy vest looks much better.

flowery · 22/05/2019 22:51

I would wear those trousers with a fitted to shirt or vest top in either navy or pick out one of the colours in the pattern.

flowery · 22/05/2019 22:51

T shirt not to shirt 🙄

user1496959500 · 22/05/2019 22:53

I like them! You look more like a size 14 than an 18. The first top is nice but possibly a bit much with the trousers. A good cut though.

lotusbell · 22/05/2019 22:54

Love the orange stripe, not keen on the pattern of the trousers but like the style on you. I think 2nd pic is fab, and top in the first pic would look better with plain trouser. Your figure is gorgeous btw x

madeyemoodysmum · 22/05/2019 22:59

I actually like it but I am a colour and pattern girl

madeyemoodysmum · 22/05/2019 23:00

Stripes better 100%

PhannyMcNee · 22/05/2019 23:03

Hello again - lots more comments Shock

So I’m not convinced at all by the jackets - sorry. It reminds me of the 90s and my youth too much I think, all that power dressing and shoulder pads.

What I do have is raincoats - generally mens because long arms - with hoods and properly waterproof. Very practical rather than stylish. I covet the Seasalt range but there arms are just too short Angry

The navy vest was for colour, not fit. I wear it as a vest under other things because it doesn’t fit very well. I know it is very unflattering.

If there had been a plain orange t-shirt, I’d have got that but they didn’t and the blue was the wrong shade. I think navy would be very safe and would prefer to pick up the white or orange of the Christmas puddings (can’t unsee that now but I still love the trousers).

I generally wear either stripes, patterns or bright colours and don’t own any plain black clothes except vests/knickers.

I do mostly wear v-necks or scoop (?) necks and flaunt my crepey décolletage due to the norkage but they had no v-necks in the right colours either.

I think I will take a trip to the Big City Hmm and see what t-shirts I can find elsewhere, clutching my new favourite trousers with me to make sure I get a good match. Or I might just stick with the orange stripes....ShockWinkBlush

Thank you all for your help and advice, you’ve given me a real confidence boost Flowers

I think you need a plain top in the style of the stripy top and tucked in.

I don't think the vest does you any favours

BlueCornishPixie · 22/05/2019 23:05

I think the t shirt is the right sort of thing to wear them with but I would try for something plainer. I reckon you could go with either white, burnt orange or navy. But the shape of the t shirt works well with the trousers, it's a really nice t shirt on you so keep it!

I don't like a vest so much with them, I think the more relaxed fit of the t shirt works. Vest looks a bit like I'm too scared to wear these trousers so went for the most basic option, and looks a bit middle aged on holiday. Normally trousers like that are paired with t-shirts on Insta and I like that look, it looks more stylish I think. They look great on you!

fancynancyclancy · 22/05/2019 23:13

I like the pattern clash, much more fun than plain imo. I would bring it together with a belt though.

ThatCurlyGirl · 22/05/2019 23:24

Navy works well, or coral would be lovely if you want a bit or a brighter look.

ThatCurlyGirl · 22/05/2019 23:26

Yeah I'd go for coral top and if possible coral wedges thinking about it, with some chunky / statement bracelets or necklace in navy to tie it together without being too matchy matchy.
