I was thinking maybe a denim jacket but they’re not really “me”. I’m worried I won’t be warm enough in a cardi plus I have looked but can’t find one that I feel is quite right.

I’m 5’8” size 14 with boobs and a fat, square droopy backside.

Please send help Sad

Sorry I’ll be no help as I think only a denim jacket would look good think a cardi would date it a bit

ViciousHighwaymam · 17/05/2019 20:54

Yes that’s what I thought too. I could prob pull off a denim jacket to be fair but then again I don’t want to spend £30+ on something I’ll not wear again. Sigh.

eBay will have hundreds of denim jackets

Pinkarsedfly · 17/05/2019 21:00

Denim jacket was my first thought, sorry.

ViciousHighwaymam · 17/05/2019 21:01

Ok so what shade of denim then? I’m useless.

Plus I’m 40 and don’t want to look tragic.

Very dark navy denim jacket

Goldenbaubles · 17/05/2019 21:04

I have a pleather white jacket which i wear to death which would look nice with it?

palahvah · 17/05/2019 21:07

If you really don't want to get a denim jacket (though I reckon you'll get plenty of wear out of it) then you could wear or take leggings /slip to wear underneath

ViciousHighwaymam · 17/05/2019 21:10

I live in jeans so won’t be doing double denim plus I have to have my bum covered or I feel self conscious. I’m only wearing a dress because I have to really plus I’ve got Spanx.

Primark have cheap demin jackets at the moment

Goldenbaubles · 17/05/2019 21:18

Something like this in a pale colour rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F191136527646

TooMinty · 17/05/2019 21:23

That's a lovely dress, I wish I was tall enough to wear it. Yes to denim jacket. A wrap would look nice with it too but probably too posh for a BBQ.

ViciousHighwaymam · 17/05/2019 21:27

Yeah think I’ll go for denim then. It was my first though to be fair but was hoping you’d convince me otherwise Grin. Thanks for links and opinions Flowers

Denim jackets £14 Primark, go up to a size 20

ViciousHighwaymam · 17/05/2019 21:44

No Primark within easy reach really.

Pleather biker style jacket would go with that dress. I was actually looking at it the other day.

Usuallyinthemiddle · 17/05/2019 22:12

Denim will look great!

Hecateh · 17/05/2019 22:16

Love the dress - wouldn't wear it for a bbq.

jeans or other trousers and a fab top. something really warm for when it gets cold

ViciousHighwaymam · 17/05/2019 22:21

It’s a party with a bbq. Jeans def not appropriate sadly.

Denimn jacket in untreated denimn or black denimn. Some white converse would also make the dress younger. I agree with other replies a cardigan may make the outfit look frumpy and a pash may look to polished. Great dress. I don't agree with the backside comment I am sure your derriere is fabulous. Anyway if you cant see it don't stress about it!!!

ViciousHighwaymam · 18/05/2019 09:58

Well the bum will be held firm by the Spanx so I’m not worrying about it at the moment Grin

I’ve got some sandals to wear so shoes not a problem for once.

Off to have a look in (v small) town later. We’ve got New Look, Peacocks, Pep and Co, Next and Tesco so I’m hoping one of those has something to offer.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Forgot to say I am 47 and still wear denimn jackets and leather biker jackets. Normally with well tailored trousers and a silk foulard. 40 is still young and I am sure you look fabulous. Age is just a number, wear what you want and sod what everyone thinks Wink
