Can you find me a "not a wedding" dress?

I'm getting married in August....I'm having a nightmare trying to find something to wear. I definitely don't want a wedding dress and was thinking something along the lines of the photo I have attached, but have no idea what search terms to use or where to look!

Can you find me a "not a wedding" dress?

Have a look at the French website Sezane. They have some beautiful dresses that you could definitely get married in! Or needle and thread?

I would ask for this post to be moved into style and beauty. The mumsnetters in there always have loads of suggestions. (Fwiw I've also just been through this struggle... wedding on Saturday week. I have bought my dress online...I would suggest you browse john Lewis - they have hundreds and hundreds of dresses....if you find something similar go and check the designers own website.)

What's your budget? Needle and Thread have some lovely dresses. Ghost may also be worth a look, although I think the quality has gone down hill - not certain.

flugelhorn81 · 16/05/2019 07:36

Btw that wedding looks so lovely!

Mummaofmytribe · 16/05/2019 07:41

That's a beautiful dress. No ideas from me, sorry, but how wonderful if you can find something like that. Pps are right: get over to style and beauty. The fashionista ladies will be on it like couture bloodhounds Grin

I was advised to stay away from names like ghost, phase eight, Reis's etc as the chance of a guest wearing similar/same was high. But obviously it depends on your number of guests as to whether that's a consideration.

Try LindyBop
www.lindybop.com
Their Silver Collection at Christmas was very much like that style you've shown. Not sure if still available though but could be bought from some of their stockists!

Actually wrong link. Whoops!

I really wanted to post in style and beauty but had no idea how to find it! When I went to create a new post it came up with topic - and style and beauty wasn't there? I'm using the Mumsnet app on iPad would that make any difference?

Thank you to everyone who has replied so far! X

I’ve reported your thread for you. S&B is filed under “Body and Soul” for some reason.

As a fellow charcoal afficionado, I think this one is lovely (John Lewis only has it in a size 8 though)

No problem, OP - we'll move it over for you now. Smile

Thedarklady · 17/05/2019 17:12

What colour do you want? Sleeves or no sleeves? (Perhaps your height and dress size too).

Rivendale0506 · 17/05/2019 18:10

Thanks @AnyoneButAnton for that! I'll be able to find S&B now Smile that dress is lovely - I'll see if I can find elsewhere as am deffo not a size 8 and not likely to be 😩

Thanks @Thedarklady - I'm kind of open to colours but probably on the paper side so ivory/cream, blush pink, grey. I'm 5'4" a size 12/14 - with a menopausal tummy and big busted. Don't like my arms much either but wouldn't put me off a sleeveless dress if I liked it. Wedding is very low key and informal so looking for something like the dress in my post as will fit the "feel" of the wedding and the venue.

At 5'4 do you ever wear petite? I'm that height and feel that petite clothes often fit better. You could start googling which ranges do petite clothing.

Rivendale0506 · 18/05/2019 08:24

@user1474894224 I ordered that! It was ok...but not wow on me...sent it back.

It’s nothing like you picture but this is lovely and has sleeves:
