Vol85 was far too slow and hopefully a shiny new thread will get us all excited again.

Lots has been going on with lots of stress for many of us but our love of fashion and friendship keeps us here.

You need some tassel earrings now

shopafrolic · 01/06/2019 22:19

I bought some last year Dry but not sure they work now I have short hair....

DryWhiteagainW · 01/06/2019 22:47

True.....

libertyonhertravels · 02/06/2019 09:49

I suspect I might be the only person at the MU not wearing Castaners!

Ok, I have a bag hunt challenge for you all. I need a new work bag. I want tan or brown leather, not too structured but not hobo. Actually I'd be happy with dark olive too. Must be able to fit 13 inch laptop and A4 notebook / papers, cables, phones, iPad, water bottle, glasses case, sunnies case and small make up bag. Preferably able to wear on shoulder but not cross body. Need a shorter strap too to be able to carry by hand. Holy grail bag will have at least one outside pocket for keys, change for parking and will fit easily under aeroplane seat.

Budget up to 500 pounds...would like to spend less as it will get a lot of wear and tear. Not finding what I want in NZ so would appreciate a short list to check out when I'm in London.

Thanks Smile

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/06/2019 10:01

I don't own castaners yet, but my zara wedge espadrilles are a bit high so I am thinking of getting some that are more walkable Blush

First bag idea for Lib (though I am not sure madewell have a store in the UK?)

I have definitely seen another leather bag with short and long handles but I'm going to try and remember where it was from.

libertyonhertravels · 02/06/2019 10:26

Thanks Blair. I don't like the logo on the Madewell. Am also already messing with my own criteria as I'm finding myself veering towards more structured - may well drive you all mad!! Very grateful for suggestions though. I seem to be simultaneously craving structure but something a bit boho or not too plain.

libertyonhertravels · 02/06/2019 10:28

Oh and must be gold tone Hardwear, no silver.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/06/2019 10:49

It's surprisingly hard to find totes with both short and a long handle but not long enough to be solely crossbody!

I think I found the one I was thinking of, which is this Marc Jacobs - but now I think I'm going to have to get it myself!

Found a few nice ones on not on the high street - obviously not ideal with getting a delivery though.
Leather tote bag
Double handle bag
Loads of nice ones here

A couple more:
a bit different, olive suede
Cos, but not boho nor structured

Finally I saw this and thought of QueenC.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/06/2019 10:51

The Marc Jacobs does come in olive but it doesn't have an outside pocket :/

libertyonhertravels · 02/06/2019 11:36

Thanks so much Blair. That leather shop on NOTHS is great but probably don't have the time when I'm over for online shopping and returns.

The Marc Jacobs is great but I don't love it. I think my issue is that I saw someone at work with a fantastic bag just as I described from Fat Face apparently many moons ago. I can't find anything quite like it. Also I keep being drawn to more structured bags as they are just so practical especially for carrying laptop etc but feel a bit meh about them.

libertyonhertravels · 02/06/2019 11:39

My favourite work bag ever was a black Modalu tote. Gorgeous leather, gold hardware, lovely lining, zipped, extra clip on pouch and outside zip up pocket. It had super thick straps which were perfect length for carrying on shoulder but could also carry on arm or in hand without dragging on the ground. The strap broke and I haven't been able to get it fixed properly. I got it in TK Maxx for 150 and it was just perfect.

maradesbois · 02/06/2019 15:33

lib I have a great bag for you Chylak. It’s a young Polish brand, great quality and all produced in Poland using Italian leather. This one looks good for work but they have some lovely smaller ones too.

maradesbois · 02/06/2019 15:41

Shop your wardrobe is on fire atm 🔥

Dry the Whistles dress is beaut, really lovely.

Ootd is black marant linen dress from a few years ago with black castaners. Am debating getting the off white ones too...

Applefairy · 02/06/2019 16:08

I’ve dipped in and out - not sure if anyone remembers me - I have a question: white ankle boots? Yes or no? I recall one of you has a pair.... I am short legged so always conscious of limiting contrast with shoes (and why I can’t do the ankle tie Castaners).

Love love love those Chylak bags.

I picked this up Wandler one in the NAP sale - really updates my jeans and boots look Smile

shopafrolic · 02/06/2019 17:12

Thanks Mara I am loving the new purchases recently :)
I nearly bought the off white Castañer to go with my new KM jumpsuit but 3 pairs seems excessive.
So ladies, I need to find shoes (for the evening) to go with that jumpsuit. Not brown! Any ideas? Suitable for cocktails and dancing and cobbled streets!
Hi Apple I have white ankle boots which I wore to death a couple of years ago but I haven't really gone back to since. So I'm a not sure I'm afraid. Gorgeous bag :)

MarshaBradyo · 02/06/2019 17:31

I need a good run soon Hmm must try

Hey Apple I liked some Marant ones I saw recently, think the shape is key. Great bag

Love the sound of Marant linen Mara

MarshaBradyo · 02/06/2019 17:32

Run of clothes that is, although have just been for a hot run - with ds he’s up for it

shopafrolic · 02/06/2019 18:44

Raining here now. This weather is just the weirdest. Confused

kittyhello · 02/06/2019 20:37

Apple these Nicholas Kirkwood boots are pretty cool Geri wearing white boots

Great buys Shop Fedup & Viva I haven't bought anything for ages, I've been toying with some Castaners, not the strappy ones though but not sure if I'll wear them much.

Dreamqueen · 03/06/2019 14:16

Forgive me MNV for I have sinned badly against all style by buying the black Teva flatform sandals on here Waiting for them to arrive & plan to wear them walking to and from the beach on upcoming holiday.

MrD is doing well. Thanks for all good wishes. It's a very slow progress & he gets very frustrated and grumpy with himself because he can't do things as he used to. He's doing so well that I am going to go on holiday with my family for a week as planned. Someone will stay in the house at night with him to be on the safe side.

Can I play it by ear about confirming for MU please?

MarshaBradyo · 03/06/2019 18:42

Of course Dream sending all the good vibes and best wishes to MrDream

QueenCatalina · 03/06/2019 20:29

That jacket is so you dry
lib my first thought was coach but didn’t see anything on there to fulfil the brief
blair I don’t own castanets either. Theyre too high for me. And I’m not sure when I’d wear them as if it’s hot I prefer my feet out in sandals
shop I like the sort of sandals pictured with the jumpsuit or did you want a heel?
dream fab news

It was lovely to come back from holiday to parcels but I love everything loads which is bad money wise!!

the wristlet is divine
I adore the hush top but will wait for the dress to be delivered and see if that suits as I won’t keep both
this drss is more maxi than midi on me but I really like it. I was just a bit paranoid about my tum when I tried it on but I pigged out last week so am waiting a couple of days until I try it again
another frivolous purchase but again, love at first site.

I’m doing lots of overtime this month due to staff shortages so hopefully that will pay towards all these!!

FedupNagging · 03/06/2019 20:53

Just popping in quickly to say I’ve been —lurking— on the royal thread and loved Melania’s white dress with navy accents; She looked very elegant.

Also there’s a brilliant thread in chat about forgotten 80’s music - for those of you in a similar age bracket to me - you know who you are Wink

Stokey · 04/06/2019 10:41

Lib Monnier Freres have a sale starting tomorrow. They have a good selection.

I bought the office version of Castaners last year, they've been great & have lower heel so I can wear them on the tube.

I'm going somewhere very humid & potentially wet this summer so apparently need quick dry clothes, MMF not cotton.
Not sure where to go, maybe just a sports shop. There's going to be a fair bit of walking through jungles.
Maybe joining you in Teva hell Dream 🤨. Glad Mr D is doing better

Stokey · 04/06/2019 10:46

Fedup didn't Melania come dressed as an air hostess?

Liked the way Harry avoided having his pic taken with them. Like when your Gran makes you talk to her racist mate, and you're like "but Nan..."
