I love the dress but slightly miffed it's a tad see through. What knickers do I wear???

I wouldn’t wear it at all.

It’s so annoying when you buy something new and it’s see through!

BarkandCheese · 08/05/2019 12:59

I bought some seam free, flesh coloured pants in Primark the other day to wear under a new pair of pale coloured trousers.

Kokeshi123 · 08/05/2019 13:02

How about an opaque slip underneath? I would hate to go about all day feeling slightly paranoid that people can see my knickers etc.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 08/05/2019 13:04

Flesh colour would be the obvious choice but I'm sure I've read that pink or even red ( Shock ) works too

HastaLaVistaPrint · 08/05/2019 13:06

I would go for a slip close to whatever skin colour you have. A bright white one will show through the dress.

thenightsky · 08/05/2019 13:06

Really big flesh coloured pants. I have two such pairs purely for my linen dresses and trousers. They need to be big so the edges don't show. Mine are like high waisted shorts with little legs in.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 08/05/2019 13:10

I didn't imagine it...red underwear under white clothes

Drogosnextwife · 08/05/2019 13:10

None

LittleLongDog · 08/05/2019 13:17

I never knew that Kenny!

Aquamarine1029 · 08/05/2019 13:18

You need a slip, obviously.

Firsttimemummy19 · 08/05/2019 13:40

I don't fancy wearing a slip, it's something my grandma would wear. Plus it's a lovely summer dress I think it would ruin the look of it.
I'll try flesh or pink/red knickers I think

I have a pair of seem free 'flesh' coloured pants for this situation.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 08/05/2019 13:49

a slip is the only thing that isn't going to have you fretting about showing your pants the whole day, i would try to match the dress, then any see through would only be shoulders/legs.

or maybe get the dress lined? Might not be cost effective, but if you love the dress??

DulcieRay · 08/05/2019 14:20

Bright red lace thong or big black french knickers

Because I'd want the world to know I wasn't naked underneath Grin

Seriously though, I wouldn't wear it or would only over leggings

BIWI · 08/05/2019 14:22

Slips aren't the preserve of the elderly! They exist for this very reason!

Otherwise, flesh coloured pants.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 08/05/2019 14:27

i don't get this slip/fuddyduddy connection

I mean I am quite old, (50+) but nothing makes a dress look nicer than wearing it with a full slip underneath, no cling, knicker lines, dress doesn't ride up

It's very glam when you undress and waft about for a bit in your slip
are you trying to seduce me Mrs Robinson?

LittleAndOften · 08/05/2019 14:30

Definitely flesh coloured pants. Everything else shows. A slip only works if the neckline matches that of the dress. Otherwise it looks like an old man vest underneath!

HastaLaVistaPrint · 08/05/2019 15:59

I meant a waist slip! Is that what they’re called? Like a skirt but made of slippery material.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/05/2019 18:51

I always wear a slip! A skirt type one, not a whole dress thing. In winter they stop your skirt sticking to tights, and in summer they stop accidental knicker flashing.

A slip makes a dress hang better and stay crisp for longer, especially with linen.

I wouldn’t wear the dress. Summer dresses with a slip underneath is not going to give me that lovely ‘slip on a summer dress’ feeling! Nude knickers will still show as well.
