The perennial issue of good quality t shirts, where to find??

As the title says really, I just want some plain t shirts (including white) that are not see through/won't shrink etc and will look smart enough for work. I'm really struggling this year to find anywhere with any decent ones. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

ooglyboo · 01/05/2019 19:11

Definitely uniqlo.

Thankssomuch · 01/05/2019 19:13

I get mine from Jigsaw.

StarShapedWindow · 01/05/2019 19:14

The White Company ones I bought last year have been great quality.

Thinkle · 01/05/2019 19:19

uniqlo

fiorentina · 01/05/2019 20:15

Uniqlo definitely. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-uniqlo-u-relaxed-fit-short-sleeved-t-shirt-415793.html are v good quality.

Oasis and ASOS. I only buy the pure cotton ASOS ones though.

Oasis have some lovely , smart drop hem shirts in white , black , green , grey and navy.

Ivegotthree · 01/05/2019 20:23

Following as I have yet to find this holy grail.

Ivegotthree · 01/05/2019 20:25

Tell you what's to be avoided IME and that's Arket. I bought a white t shirt from them the other day and it's just not nice.

It's almost got a blue/grey tinge (before washing) and is so far from being the good quality white t shirt of my dreams.

HeyMicky · 01/05/2019 20:26

Weekday are amazing. Wash brilliantly and hold their shape. They have a website but they're also available through ASOS

DameDoom · 01/05/2019 20:36

Just bought a few Me and Em t-shirts and they are fabulous.

goose1964 · 02/05/2019 08:02

Cotton traders are usually good.

NigellasGuest · 02/05/2019 09:46

Me and Em are the best. I bought a black and a white one 2 years ago and theyre still going strong. They were recently recommended by Claudia Winkleman in one of the papers, and I thought yup

Thegirlisnotright · 02/05/2019 09:57

GlossyTaco have you got a link for ASOS ones? Thank you!

PurplePiePete · 02/05/2019 10:05

I hate the Uniqlo ones that people rave about! Too boxy, heavy fabric and very long sleeves.
What I want to find is a recreation of the ones Gap used to do in supima cotton with lycra - much finer / softer fabric and fitted.

FreeFreesia · 02/05/2019 10:33

decent thick cotton I have it in a denim blue from last summer and it washes superbly.

loveliesbleeding1 · 02/05/2019 10:35

Not a popular choice but I like m and s for basic cotton t-shirts.

Sakura7 · 02/05/2019 10:46

Had a look at Me+Em, but the price of £35+ for a basic t-shirt is a bit offputting.

I find Giordano good but they're not easy to find in the UK, may need to order online.

Swiftier · 02/05/2019 10:57

For plain tees I have a few Jigsaw ones in their Pima cotton and a few Whistles ones in their Rosa style. Both types are nice and soft and wash and wear really well.

TheCanterburyWhales · 02/05/2019 14:11

I hate the Uniqlo for the same reason as pp. They look like old fashioned men's t shirts. Thick and shapeless.

M&S supima are brilliant, as, oddly are their "viscose mix" They are a flattering shape and feel like soft cotton rather than viscose.

To add to the "avoid at all costs" list: Mint Velvet. Like everything of theirs I've ever ordered, it's gone straight back. Poor quality for ££££s and if you order colour, it is nothing whatsoever like the website colour. (White Stuff also buggers for this,) Boden t shirts v similar, virtually transparent and lose shape after one wash.

I've bought a couple of H&M linen ones this week and so far am liking them enough to order a couple more.

NigellasGuest · 02/05/2019 18:58

Me&Em t-shirts are expensive but you get what you pay for. Cost per wear they've really learnt their keep IMO.

theemmadilemma · 02/05/2019 19:00

I got one of the Next Emma Willis ones and back for several more. Washed well, nice fit, not see through.
