Hello,

I’m starting a new thread because you lovely lot filled the old one with pics suggesting gorgeous dresses for- ahem- older or less-confident brides.

Thanks to you all I’m now in a position of having to choose between three I love!

Let’s hope the pics work this time!

Yay, keep to the pink!

BentBaastard · 18/04/2019 21:35

Definitely pink

Now could you go and tidy your room please......🙏🏻

PineapplePatty · 18/04/2019 21:37

Are you having a bag?

Pinkarsedfly · 18/04/2019 21:51

That seems pretty unanimous, then!

I wasn’t planning on having a bag...but I’ve just thought, where will I keep my phone, lipstick, etc?

What do brides do? Maybe DS’s girlfriend will look after them for me?

Yes so someone else to carry your stuff, you don’t want it be fading wih a bag.
You just need a hand for flowers and a hand for your new Husband! ❤️

The pink one by miles.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 18/04/2019 22:04

Hi gorgeous OP

The ref one is nice but that's it. Fine for work. A meal or a night out but looks more wedding guest than bride. I get that you don't want to look too bride but you want bride with a twist which the pink one is.

I didnt even see the red and green dresses on your other thread.

Can't wait for more to arrive. For what it's worth I think white or sparkle sandals with peonys and a hair clip will look beautiful x

TinselAngel · 18/04/2019 23:36

Even if somebody else carries your bag during the ceremony, you still deserve a new bag.

Crafting1Queen · 19/04/2019 00:43

PINKarsedfly PINK, pick the pint lace one, though I think IT has picked you ….. Same thoughts as PP re the red and green dress, if you don't mind us saying. Cut of green dress does not do you any favours at all (sorry as I know you liked it), but it drowns your figure & your lovely flat stomach, in fact it actually creates bulk around your middle which we've seen from your previous pics isn't there (ie in the pink floral with the lace, which came at same time as The one).

If you love the red dress, and can afford it, keep it. You deserve it after all the stress you've been going through to find your dress etc.

Having just gone back to look at the pics of the red one again before I finished my post and just realised - em, it's covered in white flowers, quite a busy pattern of them really, which is fine if it's being worn on it's own - but wouldn't you're bouquet, especially as you've updated you're having one and just ordered cream peonies as your flowers, not actually disappear into the dress?!?! It might be hard to distinguish in photos where that dress ends and the bouquet begins and where the bouquet begins and the dress ends? Especially if maybe you are not having a professional photographer and it'll be family/guests at the wedding taking shots on the day.

I think a sparkly hair clip will be a fab look on you too :)

Also, may I pass on an excellent tip from my wedding photographer, as she knew I was worried about my apple shaped/excess weight I was carrying, re your original post being annoyed at yourself for being a wee bit bigger at the moment - do not carry or hold your bouquet/pose for pics with it directly in front of your stomach/sitting up near your bust line, with your arms making a kind of stiff U shape. This makes any bride look bigger, even very slender brides. I know we've established you have nothing to worry about re your figure, and I know you now believe that :) but just wanted to pass the tip on so you can look even more amazing in you pics.

Hold it slightly lower down with a more loosened arm (if you know what I mean), around about just under you tummy button, when walking down the aisle, and the same when posing for pics, and at times drop it even lower when holding it to the front, and also hold it off,, arm fully dropped but loose, to the side a bit.

She'd also suggested that whilst you are talking to people after/being congratulated etc (where guests may be snapping away without you noticing take natural shots) holding it with a slightly loosened arm (if you know what I mean) off centre, down to one side. It does feel a bit contrived at first, but the pics I have holding it like this are very flattering. You may wish to try holding something similar sized to the shape/size of your bouquet, in front of your mirror, both in front of your tummy like most brides do, and then lower/off to the side to see what I mean. I think with the way you carry yourself, and that lovely lean back you have in your swanking photo, that will actually look very natural for you.

Anyway, I've done it again, another war and peace post, when I was only going to jump on and say a few lines lol. It's all falling into place in plenty of time for the big day, so woohoo, hopefully soon you can take a breather from trying on dresses/bras/shoes and so forth, and reading/posting/updating comments in this thread & actually relax a bit and enjoy the run up to your wedding!

Last thought, honest. You need to save/screen shot, or some other way be able to record these 2 amazing threads for posterity, so that you have a record of the utterly amazing story about how you found your wedding dress :), you know, to be able to show your grandchildren lol.

Pink lacy one with the red shoes!
(& please give us a pic of your Boston!)

ChristmasCalamity · 19/04/2019 00:57

I love the green but I guess I agree it's slightly unflattering around the tummy. Only slightly though. The pink is awesome too and you'll look so beautiful. Hair up or down? Are you having a honeymoon at all? Maybe you could do red shoes 👠 for after the daytime but when you won't be carrying your flowers anymore and won't need to match

SleepWarrior · 19/04/2019 04:17

Awesome, so glad you are going with the pink and feeling excited! Ivory shoes to match Ivory flowers sounds perfect.

sashh · 19/04/2019 05:16

Another vote for pink.

But I also think you should keep the red one. Can you wear both? Not at the same time obviously.

And is anyone else getting adverts for lovely floaty type dresses?

Get a new bag for the Ivy and ask someone else to hold it for the ceremony.

SpeckledyHen · 19/04/2019 05:51

Definitely pink - and I don’t even like pink - in fact I hate it - but that just shows how right it is for you . Have a wonderful day , and don’t forget to post a picture of the day .

Ellenborough · 19/04/2019 06:21

I love both those dresses on you. If you can afford it, keep them anyway.

I think the red shoes look great with the pink dress.

TSSDNCOP · 19/04/2019 06:37

I like the pink one too. The sleeves swung fitted make your middle look smaller than the awful triangle sleeves on the red.

You could have some small pale pink bud roses with the peony and tie the stems with red satin, that way you’d get red back into the overall look.

Pinkarsedfly · 19/04/2019 06:49

Do you lot want to be my virtual bridesmaids?

In fact, you already are! What a lovely lot of supportive women you are.

Oh and for the pp who wanted a pic of the Boston...there are two, Delilah and Scout. The stairs are for Delilah...she’s only got little legs and can’t quite jump up. Scout (the one with the patch) is the skinny athletic little sister Grin

Oh I missed loads!

Yes I agree the pink, aside from everything else you look very happy in it.

So....when's the virtual Hen night??

Loopytiles · 19/04/2019 07:42

Cute dogs!

I too think that if money allows it’d be good to keep the red one for other occasions.

Think a small bag would be good, as part of the look and to keep your bits and bobs, as there are so many nice ones around and it’s potentially something you could use again.

TheSassyAssassin · 19/04/2019 07:52

Awww Delilah and Scout are v cute! Now, about this hen do......?! Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 19/04/2019 08:09

This thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

The pink is flipping LUSH I love the red shoes and I think you will have an amazing day.

Enjoy!!!

nettie434 · 19/04/2019 08:36

The pink ‘swank’ one was amazing but agree that if you can afford the red as an extra non wedding dress, it looks great on you. A little red clutch would be nice if you are wearing the red shoes (not sure if you ever tried the shimmer ones but I liked the red ones, plus you said your partner was keen on them too). Then you can ask your DS’s girlfriend to look after it at the ceremony but you can go to check lipstick etc at the restaurant. Very excited we can all be virtual bridesmaids. Have never been one before although I was once a best woman.
