Why has everyone got acrylic nails? They're vile!

Well, not everyone, but too many people at work are sporting them imo, I think they're horrible.
Explanations?

I want to know - how do you wipe your bum or dig the garden with them?

I have them because after my last lo my natural nails were realy rubbish and brittle so I thought Id try them. I have them fairly short and just have a french style which is quite natural looking. Its also nice if Im going somewhere special to have a pattern painted on them. Its a bit like getting your hair done or choosing a new outfit. Plus being in a household of men this is my special lady/Mummy treat

Actually, they don't look bad for gels , betcha they aren't as strong as mine LOL

I can pick up coins off carpets, concrete, grass etc, not off laminate

AND

I cant get coins out of trolleys.

Ginge my lovely... I have always used a nice soft tissue paper to wipe my bum and I use gloves in the garden.

I don't like them if they're long with square ends. I think they look a bit pornstar/chavvy.

Ones which are more natural looking are ok though.

i am very lucky to have nice natural nails, but its genetics as well as old fashioned caring fo r them!
personally i have seen some really really vile nails on people. fine if they are looked after, but a lot of people think that they dont need to be cared for. fake nails still need to be kept CLEAN, and the hands need to have moisturiser applied occasionally, and nailpolish musnnt be allowed to get chipped, or look as if it is growing out etc. but most of all, they just need to be kept clean.

it's not difficult doing stuff with long nails.

My SIL has hers done, and also little diamantes and artwork - stars and zigzags - wots that all about then?

Anyone ever had acrylic toenails? When my sis was doing her Beauty Therapy course, a girl had her toenails done, along with jazzy design. Why?

I think that in most cases they look nice. Don't have them myself as mine seem to grow pretty long & last for a while & don't want to risk weakening them.

No toe nails are yuk! Last summer I had my natural toe nails painted at the place but thats because I was so pregnant I couldnt reach them and I wore flip flops cause its the only pair of shoes I could fit into.

Sorry but gel toenails are FAB!!!!!!

Because they don't get the same heavy duty exposure as finger nails,they look fab for 6wks at a time-and you only really need to do them in the Summer...

I once had a client with 2" long nails WHICH WERE PIERCED with horrid little hoops & pretend diamonds.
I was fascinated by them, couldn't concentrate on her sob story.

Because I naturally have gross nails, they never ever look nice, the white starts really low down and they are so so weak. Acrylics look fabby - but ONLY when they are done very very short and with a french manicure.

I am not sopisticated or posh though, maybe if I worked in the city in London I would not like them??

i bite my nails very badly in an almost cannibalistic disfiguring way. hence to sport this look would be a waste of my money.

Because my real nails literally will not grow past the ends of my fingers? And if they do, they are paper thin. My acyics, like Mars', are kept very short (though I favour a dark polish rather than french). I would post you a picture, but I'm a week in (fortnightly infills) which means I need to repaint tomorrow . I will post pic after that, and again ina weeks time when done properly
