Just out of curiosity can I ask your age and where you shop?

I'm 32 and for the first time I went into new look at the weekend and though...oh god am I too old to shop here now?!

Defo going to put h and m on my list seems quite popular...the one near me just seems so messy it puts me off!

Going to scout eBay and some charity shops for some bargains too...again I go into charity shops for things like vases/ books etc but never thought of clothes

I'm 31, about to be 32 and I mainly shop in H&M (though the quality/sizing is variable) Primark, & Other Stories is a recent fave, Zara, the odd thing in Topshop but if anything I think that feels too young rather than New Look. My local New look is huge though so perhaps it's that.

I find wherever I shop it's a case of swerving certain ranges tbh, like those clearly for teens, the stuff that's a bit too twee, or is not on trend, or is too on trend and you can't pull it off. I like browsing for inspo on ASOS but only really buy occasion dresses from there or the odd top. It's not cheap and whenever I do a large order I send most of it back.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 03/04/2019 18:09

38 and boohoo, river island and primark mainly

Aimily · 03/04/2019 18:14

I'm 28, a huge fan of Matalan, I also shop at warehouse, Tesco and TÜ at Sainsbury's (sure this is the second time I've recommended Sainsbury's today)
10 years ago I would have scoffed at supermarket clothing, but it's really fashionable these days!!!
New Look I tend to walk in, look around and really struggle to find stuff I like, same with River Island and Top Shop...

mummymonica · 03/04/2019 18:43

27 and mainly boohoo or river island Smile

Terramirabilis · 03/04/2019 18:49
  1. Uniqlo for basics, Aritzia for anything apart from tops, Cos for work clothes although I have to be very selective as the tent look isn't great, Amour Vert for anything, Shopbop for anything. (I'm in the US so some of these might not be available to you.)
Terramirabilis · 03/04/2019 18:49

And I also like some stuff from Anthropologie.

I think most places will come up with a gem at some point. Most of you are virtually half the age of my friends and I and we still buy the odd thing from New Look. One of them in particular has that knack for getting it spot on, and she's not trying to look too young etc. So I am sure none of you are really too old yet for New Look 😬😬

XingMing · 03/04/2019 21:23

62, and I shop mostly online for basics like T-shirts (Uniqlo) and jumpers, then locally at independent boutiques for bigger purchases and quirkier accessories. And everywhere else too; my favourite jeans came from the men's department of GO outdoors while kitting DS out for Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

Doonut84 · 03/04/2019 22:12

Mid 30s

Reiss
Whistles
Jigsaw
LK Bennett
Mint Velvet
Cos
TK Maxx
Charity shops (for above brands)

evilharpy · 04/04/2019 10:17
  1. I shop mostly second hand, from charity shops, facebook groups, ebay etc, but stick to mostly the same brands:

Hobbs
Karen Millen
Jigsaw
Whistles
Reiss
Max Mara
Zara
Topshop
Warehouse
Oasis
French Connection
LK Bennett
Banana Republic

When I'm buying new it tends to be lower end stuff, basics etc. I like Sainsburys, Tesco (especially for jeans), H&M, Asos, the odd thing in Primark. And stuff from the list above but generally only in the sales. If I bought everything new I would still stick mainly to the above brands but buy less of it.

Biancadelrioisback · 04/04/2019 10:29

29 and I shop in New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Next, H&M and Debenhams.
I like the jeans in NL and their jumpers.

Floisme · 04/04/2019 13:34

62 and a year or so ago I’d have given you a long list, headed by H&M, TK Max and Whistles but lately I’ve lost patience with the high street. I’m now buying mainly from a dress agency and supplement with charity shops. It’s hit & miss but I do a regular circuit. I look out for labels I can’t normally afford, especially Margaret Howell, Joseph, Toast, Me and Em. I save up and occasionally buy in the sales.

I like a bit of vintage and have a weakness for 1940s-60s coats and jackets but they’re getting harder to find.

If I’m buying new I start with Cos and, if I had a local branch, I’d be a regular but their website continues to flummox me. I think Uniqlo is still pretty reasonable and keep an eye on the Christophe Lemaire U range. I’ll probably try Arket some time but I’m really cheesed off with online shopping. I still have a soft spot for H&M but rarely buy these days.

MinesaPinot · 04/04/2019 13:52

I'm 56, and shop in mainly Hush, Cos, Zara and H & M (they have just revamped the branch opposite my office and it is lovely - they've included some homewear, and it all looks very cool and inviting unlike the hot jumbled mess that it used to be), with a few selective gems that I've picked up from Tu in Sainsburys.

I have just discovered Next jeans in the sale - absolutely great - good fit and comfy.

There are some nice independents near me so I do a bit of a circuit there when I'm out and about. Also love a good charity shop rummage and have picked up bargains from there.

Online I like Emily and Fin, Roman (I have to be selective but good for reasonably priced evening wear) and have just found Aspiga via a recommendation on MN.

Bluesheep8 · 04/04/2019 19:01
  1. Charity shops, Primark and Sainsbury's.
Bluesheep8 · 04/04/2019 19:03

Oh and tk maxx

elasticfantastic · 04/04/2019 19:23

I'm size 20 and find a lot of plus size stuff crap cut and quality. I buy fewer things but spend more on them for a good cut/fit. I tend to buy monsoon or stuff from John Lewis. I've recently discovered Navabi website and had some nice dresses that really suit my shape.

For work office clothes I tend to get Sainsbury's stuff on the 25% off weekends!

Overthinker33 · 04/04/2019 19:29

I am early 30s and felt like this the other day in new look...after seeing a T-shirt printed with “born in the 90s” 🤣

Overthinker33 · 04/04/2019 19:30

To answer your question...I don’t actually shop though (due to bf/no time/not happy with body after baby2) Blush. Working on it (the body). Will be checking out Zara, mango, oasis, warehouse (old faves) and trying some new shops like Reiss and cos
