Best shoes to wear in NYC during August?

Starting the hunt now.

Sketchers Go Walk. They’re not exactly the most beautiful things ever but you won’t care what your feet look like when you’ve had to slow down cause your feet hurt.

Toms are super comfy on me but I know they’re not for everyone. If you do get some then break them in before you go. They come up nicely in the washing machine so could be good for afterwards. A friend of mine went to NY and ruined her lovely white canvas pumps with all the dirt on the subway and streets.

sketchers worked great for me

Birkenstocks worked for me last August. Break them in here, and I find you can walk for miles.

God they're hideous.

Which Sketchere Go Walk? With/ without socks? Don't they make your feet sweat?

Re hideous was referring to those Sketchers,might have found the wrong ones. Which Birks, I get on well with Gizah although they tend to crack.

Go walk 4. They’re breathable and you can wear them with or without trainer socks.

It will be hot! I’d wear Reef flip flops with the canvas toe post as I find them incredibly comfy! Or any Russell and Bromley sandal.. also comfy

NYC in August is often hot and very very humid, so it's the worst time to go sightseeing. New Yorkers go away if they can. Spring or fall are better.

We did a week there last August and walked about 9-10 miles a day. I took soft bed Birkenstock Gizehs, a pair of white leather trainers (they had a tooling lining so worked in the heat) and a pair of strappy but v comfy Russell & Bromley sandals. This meant I didn’t wear the same shoes two days running so could allow them to breathe/recover.

Following as we are going in July, I was thinking trainers or fitfops sandals

I walk miles a day when in Manhattan. In August l take worn in Birkenstock’s, Superga pumps and soft bed sandals.
I always have the sandals and a wrap in my back pack just in case we go anywhere even slightly fancy.
It’s stinking hot in August.

If you are a walker, invest in a pair of very good trainers. I walked about 11-16 miles a day and couldn’t imagine doing that in anything other than good quality trainers. Have fun - it’s an incredible city!

I was there for the whole of August last year. So hot but actually I ended up wearing my Adidas pumps the most. Trainers seem to be what most New Yorkers wear to walk
around in.
