Any beauty tips? I'm getting married in 7 weeks

I'm not going to be able to afford to have my hair and make up profesionally done.

What should I be doing in the run up to the day to make sure I look my best? I've been trying to drink 2 litres of water a day and making sure I remove my make up every night.

Any tips on products? Hair and make up techniques?

I just want something simple. I'm never going to be the most beautiful woman in the room but I'd like to look half decent on my wedding day!! I'll also be 27 weeks pregnant

I couldn't afford to have my makeup and hair done either. As you're PG you're hair will probably be all lovely at the moment so I'd make the most of that and keep it down. Simple make-up I reckon - just go for a nice freah look that you can do well.
You can get free make-overs in dept stores you know - I had a benefit one last week and then bought a lippy.
Oh and crongratulations x

If you have a MAC counter near you try there for a makeover, they have lots of nice natural shades.
How about wearing your hair half up, loose at back and tied up at front/sides and then add a pretty hair accessory? I bought a lovely draping/diamente type thing from Monsoon and everyone said how pretty it looked from the back.
Would recommend a subtle fake tan for the big day too.

"professional" make-up usually looks awful imo. Have you ever looked at those women at the make-up counters? keep it light and normal. get lots of fresh air as well as water in these last two weeks, if you haven't much time to exercise at least try to walk more, sleep well, eat well, stay off the booze. you'll glow. all brides do.

BornToBeAPrincess · 10/07/2007 11:53

Thanks for the advice. Think I might curl my hair to make it a bit different.

I'll have a trip to debenhams, see if I can get some make up tips!!

Drink lots of water. Boring, but really works

Pannacotta · 10/07/2007 11:59

If thery sell Origins at your local Debs try them ouot, nice, natural make up and some lovely skin care too. Great skin polish type products and very natural too so less likely to give you a bad reaction. And agree re walking lots and keeing off the booze

BornToBeAPrincess · 10/07/2007 12:13

Thank you

Loads of water. Lots of sleep. Gentle facial exfoliation and some body brushing in the shower. All-over moisturising.

MrsBadger · 10/07/2007 13:07

also exfoliate and moisturise shoulders if you will be flashing them, esp the red lumpy bits on back of upper arms. And elbows. And feet.

Use hand cream (hands will be in lots of pics if you are having rings).

(Agree with Cod that the name has to go though )

BaggieBird · 10/07/2007 13:15

Is that better?!

I forgot about my hands. My nails are crap so might have to try and find the money to get them done.

Thanks for the advice

zookeeper · 10/07/2007 13:16

Don't have a facial less than three days before the big day day - I had one the day before a wedding recently and looked decidedly spotty on the day

EmilyDavidson · 10/07/2007 13:20

No! The princess one was much nicer, more glam. Change back pls.

As regards the beauty ,do a full body exfoliation. Can be dead cheap just use a rough flannel or salt. If you are gentle ordinary cooking salt make you feel like silk. Can you do a fake tan when you're pregnant cos that would be good too.

newlifenewname · 10/07/2007 13:22

I have seen scientific evidence that demosntrates the water thing is Beaulox in terms of making your skin look better! So, don't bust yourself trying to achieve that - just drink enough to avoid water retention.

Doing your own make up is often a good idea. I had a make over at a make up counter for ideas and then did my own.

BaggieBird · 10/07/2007 13:29

Which fake tan should I use? MIL has a sunbed but I'm guessing I shouldn't.....

I'm definatly going to go and talk to some make up people in Debenhams and maybe buy a few new things if the budget allows

newlifenewname · 10/07/2007 13:33

St Tropez or Benefit. Definitely go to the Benefit make up counter in Debenhams too!

newlifenewname · 10/07/2007 13:33

One off sunbed sessions would be okay if you are a chancer

LittleLupin · 10/07/2007 13:33

Do NOT use a new fake tan. And don't forget your skin can do bizarre things when you are pregnant. I would suggest bronzer, tinted moisturiser and that wash-off colour that Boots sell - you really don't want to be Tango-ed for your wedding!

I second going to a MAC counter - I had a free makeover there pre-wedding, and it was great!

LittleLupin · 10/07/2007 13:34

Oh, and it's your wedding day - you will be the most beautiful woman in the room

chipkid · 10/07/2007 13:34

sleep sleep sleep! water! water! water!

BaggieBird · 10/07/2007 13:36

I guess I could just go on a couple of times...

I'm pretty crap at make up and in desparate need of some help so I'll get myself down there.

Thanks again.

newlifenewname · 10/07/2007 13:37

Nah! There's loads of time to practise with fake tan. And wash off ones will stain wedding dress if white/light coloured - particularly if you get a bit, um, sticky.

BaggieBird · 10/07/2007 13:40

The dress is white, I just hope I'll be able to fit into it!
I've never actually used fake tan.

EmilyDavidson · 10/07/2007 13:43

Dont do a sunbed when you're pregnant cos you can tan all blotchy. Get whatever is on offer in boots ie johnsons holiday sun or the dove one or even boots own and try it out on your legs first.

Another thing that makes a big difference is eyebrows. Its about a tenner for an eyebrow shape in a beauty salon but if thats too much then ask whichever of your mates has got the best brows to have a go on you.Do it now for a practise and if you dont like it it will have grown out before the wedding anyway

Pannacotta · 10/07/2007 13:43

You could get a St Tropez fake tan done, have heard it looks natural then you dont need to worry about doing it. Perhaps have a trial run now?
