Dungarees....yay or nay??!

Soooo I saw a lovely pair of black denim dungarees in Toast over the weekend. I'm tempted but at nearly 42 can I get away with them or is age irrelevant? Can adults really look coolish in dungarees??!

I am 5ft 3 and a size 12. I'm just not sure I can pull off the look!! I'd wear both boots and trainers...here's a couple of pictures I love...please let me know what you think. Tia

@fishonabicycle, I'm 5ft 3 and a size 6 and I got the Lucy&Yak cord dungarees in XS, leg 30". They fit really well, relaxed fitting and just right in the length. So comfortable too.

cindersrella · 27/02/2019 09:18

I love them, size 14, 5ft 6 and I feel cool in them 😂

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 27/02/2019 10:16

I had the same debate with myself last week. I bought the Fatface denim dungarees and I love them. Black cord Fatface dungarees are in the sale. I’m 60 in the summer.

Swiftier · 27/02/2019 11:08

I definitely think they can work. I want some but I’m tall and haven’t found a longer length pair.

Most important thing is you like wearing them, who cares what other people think.

crunchie12 · 27/02/2019 17:40

Thanks @Pinkrach - have ordered some Grin

SalliSunbeem · 27/02/2019 17:47

Dungarees if you're over two not a good look.

sizzledrizz · 27/02/2019 18:12

I have the indigo Toast dungarees, and will probably get the black pair soon. The look amazing

captainflash · 27/02/2019 18:18

@JaneROchester- if they still fit and are in good nick, bing them in the wash with a Dylon machine dye. It’ll bring back the black and save you buying a new pair!

I am a 38 year old, size 12, 5ft 7ish and live in mine. I have a few different pairs. I love them and always get complimented when wearing them .

captainflash · 27/02/2019 18:21

Bold fail there!
JaneROchester machine dye them!

spreadingchestnuttree · 27/02/2019 18:28

The @ sign bolds automatically @captainflash Smile

IfNotNowThenWhy · 27/02/2019 18:31

I have several pairs. .I'm wearing some now! Men seem to love them, weirdly. (Although I wear them because I find jeans dig in). I'm fleshy, not skinny.

IfNotNowThenWhy · 27/02/2019 18:32

I even have "dressy" dungarees Grin

Holidayshopping · 27/02/2019 18:53

I’m not at all keen on dungarees on me (I look like a tank!), but love knee-length dungaree/pinafore dresses!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/02/2019 19:03

I like the ones that look like Japanese shop worker ones - so straight legged and 3/4 length. Very cute. I also like the dresses with the dungaree top - until I realised they were the women’s clothes of preference for certain labour luvvie (and that not really the look I’m going for).

17CherryTreeLane · 27/02/2019 19:43

I'm 45 and love mine. I get compliments on them when I'm out. I like to wear black slim fit style, rolled up at the angle, and with leopard trainers.

JaneR0chester · 27/02/2019 19:51

Will give that a try, thanks captainflash

user122397743 · 27/02/2019 20:37

£150 for the Toast dungarees? Shock

Bipbopbee · 27/02/2019 20:39

I live in my maroon cord Lucy and Yak ones!

fishonabicycle · 27/02/2019 20:40

Thanks unbelievable! Will have a look.

dubbyoo · 27/02/2019 20:45

I only seem to see them on trendy pregnant people lately. But then I live in a bit of a nappy valley

lotusbell · 27/02/2019 20:57

I want some put am 5ft nothing and dumpy so I think I'd look ridiculous and I'm.not normally one who gives a fuck about what other people think. I am also not cool enough to pull off the style I would like to Hmm

Pinkiii · 27/02/2019 21:14

Matalan has a really nice black denim one, i live in mine

Blankscreen · 27/02/2019 23:24

I tried some but I have big boobs and they frankly looked ridiculous as the top bit wasn't big enough to cover me properly.

If I could find some that fit I'd buy a pair and in 40.

MaudesMum · 28/02/2019 07:34

I'm 57, size 16, and have just bought the ones from Sainsburys, on the grounds that if they don't work out for me I've only spent £25! Or I can divert them into decorating wear... I do look slightly like a decorator/car mechanic, but they felt so comfortable when I tried them on.

notsurewhatshappening · 28/02/2019 10:31

Do it!!! I have denim Hollister ones (skinny) and Lucy and Yak black cord ones. The latter are my favourite - really soft and comfy. Only £30 in the sale. I'm after some raspberry pink cotton ones next. I'm 5 ft 1 in and size 8-10 so possibly look like a toddler but give zero fucks.
