I meant - I stand in the bathroom, I wasn't correcting your spelling

SpongebobControlpants · 05/07/2007 15:04

I dream of having a dressing table... sigh...

I also dream of looking like Audrey F-H

was she the penelope keith character, or t'other one?

smurfgirl · 05/07/2007 15:04

Bathroom, or I sit on the floor in front of the full length mirror in our bedroom, our bathroom is downstairs so I tend to do all the faffy stuff upstairs in the bedroom.

I do mine in the hallway We live in a tiny apartment atm, no room for dressing table and have the biggest mirror and best light in the hall.

The bathroom.

However I would love a small corner of the house to call mine where I could lay out all my expensive creams lotions and potions, somewhere anyone under the age of 30 couldn't get to. I caught DD2 smashing together 2 of my Jo Malones perfume botles today. I nearly had a heart failure and she's obsessed with trying to get to my body moisturisers!

I think secretly I'd love a really old fashioned huge ornate dressing table with hundreds of little bottles of things wfileld with gorgeousness! And I'd sit there, wearing a sheer black dressing gown with a featherery trim ad fuether mule slippers, powdering my nose!

Ah yes.... I have the beige clothes, just need to tweak the hairdo and I'll be there

BettySpaghetti · 05/07/2007 15:11

Neither -I tend to sit on the bed with a hand-held mirror (unless its anything complicated like liquid eyeliner where you need 2 steady hands and then I use the bathroom mirror).

Oh I keep my stuff in my top drawer...

expatinscotland · 05/07/2007 15:13

My mother has a dressing table like that, TC.

She always had and we didn't DARE touch it.

We used to sit on her bed whilst she got ready for all those sophisticated-sounding 'cocktail' parties, dinners and soirees in the late 70s and 80s.

SOOOO chic. She'd dab on her Chanel No. 5 or Joy Patou and do her makeup and let us play with it. She'd be sipping something bubbly and smoking - back then, people did stuff like that.

We'd be allowed to open some of her drawers and flounce around in scarves and costume jewellry and then play 'Dynasty' and Mexican soap opera characters with the baby sitters after they'd left.

fishie · 05/07/2007 15:15

kitchen, keep makeup bag in mixer bowl. slap it on while making scrambled eggs and hunting for keys etc.

cod that audrey pic is rather how i imagine you to look.

SpongebobControlpants · 05/07/2007 15:19

I tend to slap a mixing bowl on too.... all in the name of aspiring to the beige Audrey look... (you know, those ceramic mixing bowls beige on the outside, white onthe inside)

I have a dressing table. With a large oval mirror. It is a right tip, but rather nice I think.

No ivory backed brushes though...

SpongebobControlpants · 05/07/2007 15:28

took me long enough to think of it when i registered. So now i spose i'd better use it aplenty!

TootyFrooty · 05/07/2007 15:30

I have a dressing table where I dry my hair but I put make up on in front of bathroom mirror (more light).
