It's official there are no jeans for me!

After having to return yet ANOTHER pair of jeans to Next (lift, slim and shape pair) I have come to the decision that there is no jeans for my wonky body!

I asked for help with my Christmas night out dress and had some wonderful advice that resulted in a cracking Phase 8 dress and many compliments on the night that's in hoping the same happens again!

I'm a size 12/14 with a mum tum (thanks kids!), little of arse and skinny legs. I like skinny or slim jeans and don't want to constantly have to pull my jeans up all the time due to my lack of bum.

The trouble I have is that if I get ones that fit my waist and don't make me look like a burst sausage that they inevitability gather at my knees and look ridiculous or give me saggy arse or a builders butt.

Is there any suggestions or am I consigned to wearing leggings or looking like a kid in her mums trousers?

Watching with interest! Exactly the same problem here. I'm beyond sick of hoiking my bloody jeans up or feeling like I'm wearing a torture instrument because I have to have my belt so tight!
I had some success with cord White Stuff jeggings a while back but just got another pair and I'm back to square one because they've changed the fit.

Bobbybobbins · 29/01/2019 17:02

No recommendations but following as I have a similar problem - I am a size bigger round my tummy than anywhere else so struggle to get a good fit

sleepismysuperpower1 · 29/01/2019 17:05

you could try jeggings? because they have an elasticated waist they might stay up better.

all the best x

Huggingslothsallday · 29/01/2019 17:16

A belt? That’s what I’m using as I have the same problem. I’ve given up finding a pair that actually fit AND stay up.

WineNotTea · 29/01/2019 17:17

I’m exactly the same as you and love the Next Rinse skinny jeans, £22.

They are bigger on the waist than most, I do have to hoik them up occasionally but not all the time.

MrsRubyMonday · 29/01/2019 17:19

Peacocks Kate jeans or Dorothy Perkins Eden jeggings are my go to, snug around the waist, different lengths, loads of colours.

Grandmastersnitch · 29/01/2019 17:20

Levi’s 720. Amazing.

EngagedAgain · 29/01/2019 17:27

Ah yes the jeans problem... After years of wearing jeans (before all the latest new fangled styles) with ease, now find it difficult to find a pair that fits properly. Just brought a new pair, thank goodness only a tenner, and had to move button twice. Luckily they have an interior button, then a tab with popper on outside. As I'm not planning on wearing tops tucked in, I'm now going to take tab off. They will 'do'. Anyway, my problem is my stomach. I like comfort and have concluded high waist for me, slightly tight when trying on, and wearing for short while at home before taking labels off. If not right get refund!

EngagedAgain · 29/01/2019 17:34

Also previously I had phases of wearing trousers instead, in the boot cut days. If all else fails with jeans, I've decided to wear black leggings with long tops, but I suspect it'll then be another mission, to find the perfect leggings, that don't sag at the knees!

traceyturnblatt · 29/01/2019 19:14

So glad it's not just me! I do like wearing jeggings but sometimes I just want a pair of jeans. I wear belts too but with no luck!

I'll try the dp Eden ones, I think I had those before I had kids and looked vaguely less like a lumpy carrot.

Levi's are amazing so I'll look there too xx

Have you tried Topshop or River island, they are my go to for jeans I can’t get on with next jeans the sizing has got a lot bigger the last few years.

SpinMill · 29/01/2019 19:19

I recently bought some Wonderfit jeand from George at Asda on the reccomendation of a friend and they are amazing, I've never been able to find jeans to fit properly before. They seem to stretch to your shape, then return to their original shape when washed.

DeadZed · 29/01/2019 19:46

The only jeans I can wear (from the many pairs I own) without a belt are the pair I bought from Weird Fish at Christmas. The waistband just seems to sit at the right place and they don't fall down on me. They also have a very small lycra content so don't seem to get all stretchy and baggy.

traceyturnblatt · 29/01/2019 20:35

@dontcallmelen I haven't been in topshop or river island for years- I actually feel myself drawing attention to my aging creakiness as I enter! However if my jeans are in there I'll go!

OP posts:
traceyturnblatt · 29/01/2019 20:36

@SpinMill I'll pop there tomorrow- should I go a size up?

OP posts:
SpinMill · 29/01/2019 20:46

@traceyturnblatt I've just checked mine and they actually span 2 sizes, they say 14-16 (I'm usually a 14).

dontcallmelen · 29/01/2019 20:59

tracey you should venture in, I’m very old but they fit really well they have lots of styles, skinny ones in Topshop are the Jamie ones & River island they are the Mollie jeans.

Lucked · 29/01/2019 21:04

M&S Autograph good for mum tum and true to size. Also better denim than next jeans I have bought.

Honestly ladies do try the Next Rinse skinny jeans that I mentioned earlier. I’m a proper apple shape and these are a perfect fit for me. You must get the ones that have Rinse in the title, any others are rubbish and don’t fit.

dontpointatme · 29/01/2019 21:16

I'm the same as you - 14 with a mum tum and skinny legs. Oasis Jade jeans in a 12 look fantastic on me (if I do say so myself), however I'm pissed off with them at the moment as a pair I bought in September have a hole in the knee already, but that's because I spend all day playing on the floor with a two year old... If I was buying naice jeans today, that's what I'd go for.

PineapplePower · 29/01/2019 21:46

Just give up. It’s an unforgiving fabric and there’s so many different options these days anyway.

greenelephantscarf · 29/01/2019 21:48

m&s sculpt &lift

DeRigueurMortis · 29/01/2019 21:58

Was just about to post the same as the poster above.

I love the M&S jeans range. The skinny sculpt and lift are brilliant.

traceyturnblatt · 29/01/2019 22:11

Thanks so much for all your help. Looks like my next child free day will involve trying on a lot of jeans (oh joy! Fitting room mirrors are the devil!)

I wouldn't even have thought of looking in Oasis or topshop or even M&S for jeans. Think I've lost my way a bit after wearing maternity leggings for what feels like the last four years!
