It's official there are no jeans for me!

After having to return yet ANOTHER pair of jeans to Next (lift, slim and shape pair) I have come to the decision that there is no jeans for my wonky body!

I asked for help with my Christmas night out dress and had some wonderful advice that resulted in a cracking Phase 8 dress and many compliments on the night that's in hoping the same happens again!

I'm a size 12/14 with a mum tum (thanks kids!), little of arse and skinny legs. I like skinny or slim jeans and don't want to constantly have to pull my jeans up all the time due to my lack of bum.

The trouble I have is that if I get ones that fit my waist and don't make me look like a burst sausage that they inevitability gather at my knees and look ridiculous or give me saggy arse or a builders butt.

Is there any suggestions or am I consigned to wearing leggings or looking like a kid in her mums trousers?

I posted on here a month or so asking for jeans recommendations and lots of people recommended Asda George.

I went to try on a few different styles this weekend (eg wonderfit but there were others) but found that on me they were too stretchy/snug in the bum and leg.

But that might suit you if you normally find jeans too baggy

EngagedAgain · 29/01/2019 22:22

It's just working out the right style then trying on as many as you can bear in different shops. I've grown to hate trying on, don't like buying to try at home, and don't like online for clothes. Not much hope for me then!

Nnnnnineteen · 29/01/2019 23:16

I wear jeans from everywhere, but my day tl day jeans have always been DP. After years of DP jeans being perfect, they now don't do slim, only skinny, which don't fit my mahoosive cankles. After much experiment, m and s are bloody awesome! I wear slim which they are and regular, which they are. They come up to my waist, don't bag at the knee and actually don't need a belt, which is v rare in jeans for me.

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 30/01/2019 13:41

I'm similar body shape to you (including the mum tum), and I love my Levi's 606 1969, they are high waist and slim leg, flatten the stomach and even give me the appearance of having a bum. I think they are discontinued, but I snap them up whenever they turn up on eBay, I have three pairs in different colours. I'm size 10/12 and go for 27/28.

Lost5stone · 30/01/2019 15:22

I am the opposite to you with a big bum and small waist so the ones that work for me won't work for you, however have you tried Joules? I only say this as when I tried some they were super tight in the leg and bum but big on the waist so by that logic they could work for you?

River Island Molly jeggings are great, they feel like proper jeans to me but they're a bit more flexible.

Welshheart · 30/01/2019 20:15

I have a problem finding jeans now after having my son at 42, he's now one. I have a mum tum & am size 12/14 also.. Ive tried on loads of jeans.. Jeggings but I like M&s jeggings the best. They fit over my wobbly tum & with a Longish top over don't look too bad & don't dig in like others do.
I know they're not jeans, but I'm wearing these now as I can't be bothered trying on jeans anymore. Hope you find a good pair. X

HisBetterHalf · 30/01/2019 20:17

River Island - nice bit of stretch that hold their shape

HildaZelda · 30/01/2019 20:19

I bang it home of every jeans thread, but: River Island Amelie. End thread/

Palestperson · 30/01/2019 20:24

I’ve recently had success with Tesco Contour jeans (£15) not falling down. All other jeans fall down all the time on me so it might be worth you trying some on if you happen to be in a store soon.

littleleeleanne · 30/01/2019 20:40

River island is a def for jeans - the 'molly' jeans are the best, think they're classed as jeggings but they are just amazing - feel more like a proper pair of jeans - think I have about 12 pairs

traceyturnblatt · 30/01/2019 20:55

Looks I'm off to River Island!

Topshop Joni

Mumof1andacat · 30/01/2019 21:13

Try bon marche. It's quite a 'old ladies' but the jeans fit very well and have elastic on the sides with a normal button and zip fly opening. The elastic gives extra comfort all round

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 30/01/2019 21:18

another vote for tesco contour....but do not believe their leg lengths, check them and try them on

I have two "L" pairs and the second pair I bought are at least three inches longer that the first pair!!

LoniceraJaponica · 30/01/2019 21:24

Bon Marche only go up to 29" leg length, which is way too short for me.

tangledyarn · 30/01/2019 21:54

I can never find jeans that fit. Apart from topshop kirsten but they stopped making them. I bought some 20 quid Stradivarius high waisted ones from asos last week and they are good..really high waisted and skinny but they fit so might be worth a try.

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 30/01/2019 23:23

This thread is so helpful! I'm another 12/14 apple who is seriously about to abandon jeans! I've just bought another disastrous pair from h&m, it's so depressing! I was considering going back to dresses as I've also given up trying to change my body for said jeans.

GreyBird84 · 30/01/2019 23:29

Tesco jeggings are fab & only £12.50

ZaZathecat · 31/01/2019 10:03

Ever tried men's skinnies? As men don't have much of a hip/waist difference they might work.

chapthedoor · 31/01/2019 12:41

Next Sculpt jeggings are ace ! Only £22 I have two pairs and going to get more, I also have the next skinny jeans at £18 which are good, going to try the £22 rinse ones tomorrow Tom there. For ref I'm a 10/12 but hourglass

chapthedoor · 31/01/2019 12:42

Posted too soon - my tummy is soft too and I find proper high waist jeans like Topshop Joni are too uncomfortable as the button digs in when you sit down. Look for a mid rise they're much more comfortable.

NicoAndTheNiners · 31/01/2019 12:47

Tesco do some great jeans.

Also I often find ones which fit in Gap. And I got some nice ones in Primark last week for £13!

Problem is at the minute (for me anyway) there's so many high waisted ones which I won't try on as I don't like them. And so many bootlegs (ditto). So the amount of low rise/mid rise skinnies to choose from gets less every week.

I reckon another 18 months and we will all be back in bootlegs circa 2001!

LoniceraJaponica · 31/01/2019 18:25

But low rise are so uncomfortable, and always in need of being hoiked up.
