I’m in public wearing a coat that looks like a dressing gown

I’m mortified.

Have a job interview and desperately needed a smart coat to wear so ordered one online last night.

It looks like a full length posh dressing gown Blush.

I’ve no choice but to wear it. I’m sitting on the train wishing the seat would swallow me.

I tripped over it on the stairs up to the platform.

Photo?

Bishalisha · 22/01/2019 15:12

I don’t want to embrarras myself further by trying to take a selfie on a train. Knowing the current situation it will make the snapping sound. Ill attempt one when I’m hiding in some public toilets killing time once I’m close to the office.

If it's good enough for the Duchess of Sussex...

Good luck with your interview!

Bishalisha · 22/01/2019 15:14

God that was obvious. Terrible pic as I was trying to be discreet.

Link to the site you purchased from?

PinkArmadillo · 22/01/2019 15:15

Can you link to where you got it online?

I think this is one of those things that your aware of 1000 times more than anyone who might glance at you, do try not to panic!

Stinkytoe · 22/01/2019 15:16

Looks cosy OP

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 22/01/2019 15:16

I don’t think it looks like a dressing gown neither in colour or material. I thought you meant one of those fluffy ones!

avocadosrus · 22/01/2019 15:17

I like it! I'd wear it!

QuaterMiss · 22/01/2019 15:18

Looks rather stylish and businesslike (if a little military in colour).

(And yes, I meant a website photo! Grin)

Bigonesmallone3 · 22/01/2019 15:18

I like it!

MeOldChina · 22/01/2019 15:24

I think it looks fine. There's lots of coats like that around that the moment so you won't look odd.

Bishalisha · 22/01/2019 15:24

I’m 9 inches shorter than the model.

Well, you can get it taken up when you have time.

Good luck with the interview!

Bigonesmallone3 · 22/01/2019 15:29

Oh! It must be very long on u!

Just own it, I'm sure u look great

Northernmum100 · 22/01/2019 15:31

I don't think that it looks like a dressing gown - not fluffy enough and it looks like a stylish coat, not run of the mill. I would say hold your head up high and try to project confidence! Good luck with the interview too.

sirmione16 · 22/01/2019 15:31

I like it! Wear it open for a relaxed blazer look and so people can see clothes. I do get what you mean and coats like this do risk having a stripper vibe Grin but I genuinely don't see an issue with it- the material and colour looks professional. Good luck with the interview!

BumbleeBeeMe · 22/01/2019 15:32

I think it looks lovely! You're probably nervous about the interview and picking yourself apart. You look fine Smile

Bishalisha · 22/01/2019 15:53

I would say hold your head up high and try to project confidence!

I’m trying to but my new shoes are also slightly too big and keep coming off Blush

I’m now sitting in a coffee shop trying to figure out how to get there. Luckily it’s raining which means I held the coat over my head to walk to the coffee shop and it swamped me like a double bed sheet

Meghan Markle vibes and comfort, can't go wrong!
Good luck with the interview

dudsville · 22/01/2019 16:19

This made me laugh op. Shrug this off, of it's the worst thing that happens then it's just funny. Hope the interview goes well!

Bishalisha · 22/01/2019 21:02

Am home and reunited with my actual dressing gown.

Interview went ok. Not sure I’m entirely keen. Journey up there and back was slightly disastrous. I blame the coat (which was ankle length on me Blush)

Tripped over the coat going up the stairs to the platform. Shoes keep coming off. It was raining when I left the coffee shop and I have absolutely no sense of direction so got lost and had to take shelter outside Deloitte and catch some poor sod who had to help me with the directions I was following city mapper but that made me even more confused. Tried to enter the building from the wrong door and someone from the building who happened to be walking past took pity on my and showed me the correct door. Interview was ok, got tested on my technical skills related to the job on pen and paper and NO CALCULATOR thank god I got it right. Still raining when I left. Trains were absolutely packed and took forever. Got back to my area and the pavements were ridiculously slippery so had to be extra careful to not rip over my stupid coat or let my shoes fall off in the ice. Ugh.

Looks great!

And we all have days like that. At least now you have a stylish new coat (that only needs a slight alteration), you know what size not to buy in that brand of shoes, and you'll be able to find your way to and into the building should you have to return ...

Well done on being on top of the technical stuff in the midst of a stressful day.

Blondielongie · 23/01/2019 08:15

Love the rest of your outfit!! (and the coat too)
