Is there such a thing as a full / heavy coverage foundation with a glowy finish?

I am after a foundation with medium to full coverage but all I can find are matte formulas. I have dry skin and want a glowy / dewy finish with a bit of life to it. Any recommendations? Ta

The Armani Power Fabrix

GailTheFish · 16/01/2019 22:12

Dammit, hit the wrong button! Armani Power Fabric has goodwdium coverage with a nice glow. Quite spendy though. I’ve heard good things about the Bourgois foundation as a high st alternative but haven’t tried it myself yet.

GailTheFish · 16/01/2019 22:13

(And that’s meant to be “good medium coverage”.)

Until recently I'd have said no.....but I've found my holy grail!!! All Xmas presents (bought with vouchers gifted to me).

I have dry skin and bought this from hourglass:

https://www.spacenk.com/uk/enGB/makeup/complexion/tinted-moisturiser/illusion-hyaluronic-skin-tint-spf15-MUK200014256.html?dwvarr_MUK200014256_color=UK200014237

It's hyaluronic so locks in moisture and has a beautiful glow to it.

Don't be put off that it's billed as a tinted moisturiser - it's coverage is actually as intense as my Charlotte Tilbury foundation, but far more flattering.

I set it with the Hourglass Ambient lighting powder (I have the 6 pan palette www.spacenk.com/uk/en_GB/makeup/sets-palettes/complexion/ambient-lighting-edit-volume-4-MUK200022277.html) which is equally brilliant (the blush, powder and strobe powders are excellent).

My skin has honestly not looked better.

Its bloody pricy but I'd buy it all again in a heartbeat (and will do so when it runs out).

I'd recommend you find somewhere that's a stockist and give it a try.

I have dry skin. Get a good primer, works wonders. I’m actually loving The Ordinary foundation at the moment, only one that doesn’t stick on my dry patches even with powder over top. I’d also recommend Hourglass Ambient Light trio palette, swirl all three over your face to look instantly like you’ve slept 10 hours and never had a gin in your life. Wonder stuff

YSL touché eclat! Recently (within the past year or so, changed formula and is higher coverage than before but still leaves a glow)

FromEden · 16/01/2019 22:52

I was wondering the same thing recently. I discovered that Mac prep and prime leaves a nice glowing finish, even with double wear which is usually pretty matte. A spritz before and one after if you want works wonders.

Elledorado · 17/01/2019 03:40

Closest I've found are foundations that have a satin finish like MUFE ultra HD with buildable coverage (it is about medium-full I would say but you can build it up).

The MAC prep and prime fix spray with the shimmer (goldlite or whatever it is) is supposed to be amazing for adding a glow too - i have it on my wishlist

IT Cosmetics BB cream has amazing coverage (despite being called a BB cream) and is very glowy/dewy. I love it. Their Bye Bye Under Eye concealer is also my miracle makeup product.

vaz119 · 17/01/2019 07:05

Lancome teint idole ultra is one of my favourite foundations and I dig it out when I'm looking for exactly what you've described. It's a good solid medium coverage (I still need a wee bit of concealer) but it's got a lovely 'satin' finish. There is a fabulous range of shades and the counter girls are usually good at giving out samples for you to try. I had to try a few samples to get my ideal colour (but admittedly I'm difficult to match)

One I'm also quite liking just now is the new(ish) dior forever undercover. Not just quite as dewy as the lancome but not flat and matte on me like ELDW. Again fairly easy to get a sample if there is a counter near you

Floralhousecoat · 17/01/2019 13:06

@1wanda did you mean the it cosmetics cc cream? I'm trying to look for the one you recommended.

OyWithThePoodles · 17/01/2019 15:18

Clinique Even Better Glow is lovely and builds to full coverage.

MrsBrianWarner · 17/01/2019 15:21

Kevyn aucoin ethereal is amazing.

All his stuff his amazing though.

Dont be put off by him being the father of contouring.

1Wanda1 · 17/01/2019 15:42

Floralhousecoat yes sorry I did mean the CC cream. Fantastic stuff and a little goes a long way.

Floralhousecoat · 17/01/2019 16:07

@1wanda thanks. X

Floralhousecoat · 17/01/2019 16:09

This is a really good tutorial on the whole it cosmetics cc range. There are 3 in the range. Op, you may find it helpful.

Following! Exactly the type of foundation I go for. I’m cheap though so no longer venture into the pricier makeup brands since having kids.

If you are looking for a good drugstore alternative, Maybelline Dream Satin is one of my favourites. L’Oréal used to do a version of True Match callled Lumi and it was AMAZING. Have no idea why they discontinued it, unless they have reformulared the regular (IME dry and watery) True Match?

Bourjois Healthy Mix is lovely too and very natural, slightly less coverage though.

My number one tip regardless of what foundation you use is to mix your foundation with a bit of glowy primer like Mac strobe lotion or S&G Hocus Focus, well mustn’t brands do a glowy primer these days. Also try a setting spray instead of powder.

I love dewy skin, can’t be dealing with matte looks.

boredandtireds · 17/01/2019 16:19

For a cheaper version, L'Oréal infallible 24hr wear is a complete dupe for Nars Sheer Glow - a fresh and dewy finish but high coverage!

Lottapianos · 17/01/2019 16:40

'L’Oréal used to do a version of True Match callled Lumi and it was AMAZING. '

Yes I remember it. Didn't know it had been discontinued. Bourjois Healthy Mix is too yellow on me

Thanks for the tips everyone

I second the IT Cosmetics CC cream recommendation. It has great coverage and also has serum built-in and SPF. The 'regular' one is quite dewy but there's also an 'illuminator' version if you want to go further.

Isleepinahedgefund · 17/01/2019 21:29

Hourglass vanish stitck and Nars Sheerglow are both medium/full buildable and glowy finish.

Isleepinahedgefund · 17/01/2019 21:29

Ooh and cover fx natural finish. Beautiful foundation.

SilverDoe · 18/01/2019 01:35

Bourjois have bought out a new shade for us English roses, a pink toned one :) it is very fair though.
