...or are leggings not a good look - definitely not worn on their own,I hasten to add.

Depends if you can carry it off or not!

toesh · 29/06/2007 16:36

definitely a good look if you have passed the age to wear mini skirts 'au natural' (as i have sadly....)

meandmyflyingmachine · 29/06/2007 16:37

Could look fab, could look awful.

MamaG · 29/06/2007 16:39

not unless aged under 13

doughnuts · 29/06/2007 16:40

toesh, that's what I was thinking - was toying with them under a denim skirt. One of my friends is joyfully embracing the return of the legging but she is quite a flamboyant dresser - I think it's because I remember wearing footless tights the first time round as a groovy art student (bought from the Dance Centre in Covent Garden as I recall - we were cool !)

ahm mamaG, surely not?

  • skulks away to clear wardrobe
MamaG · 29/06/2007 16:40

i wont budge on this

Mellin · 29/06/2007 16:40

Only if you are 14 and have twig legs

toesh · 29/06/2007 16:41

go for it doughnuts - there will be at least two of us pretending to be under 13

WigWamBam · 29/06/2007 16:44

On a six year old ... great.
On a teenager with skinny legs up to her armpits ... great.
On anyone else ... not so great.
On a woman over a certain age (and a certain waist size) ... mutton dressed as lamb.

doughnuts · 29/06/2007 16:44

how about leggings with crocs ?

yes.

embrace the legging.

perfect under a skirt/dress/whatever.

you can sit like a bloke and not worry that your pants are on show.

and they're warm.

and cheap.

hurrah for the legging

KristinaM · 29/06/2007 16:47

puppydavies · 29/06/2007 16:48

is fine imo - i never stopped tbh been wearing them with little dresses longer than care to remember...

toesh · 29/06/2007 16:48

hmmm.....less sure about that one doughnuts.

But if you like the outfit on yourself, then you should go ahead and wear whatever, because you will feel nice and have more confidence. No matter what we wear, there will always be people who think and those that think

JodieG1 · 29/06/2007 16:50

I don't like anything over trousers or leggings, looks stupid imo.

toesh · 29/06/2007 16:52

oooh, JodieG1, wash out your mouth...aghast.

doughnuts · 29/06/2007 16:56

I was joking about the crocs !

OP posts:
JodieG1 · 29/06/2007 16:56

Hehe I've just never liked that look.

toesh · 29/06/2007 17:14

doughnuts...did think you were serious.
as you can see, i have possibly had a few fashion mistakes myself....

i say , all hail mslucy, that's exactly what i would (but didn't) say

MintyDixCharrington · 29/06/2007 17:28

actually I think leggings are OK under dresses and skirts IF you have good slim legs without big calves AND you wear flat ballerina-ish shoes or pumps with them (not flipflops) AND the leggings are quite long (ie don't end on the knee)

But the effect is always a bit boho

Which is not necessarily bad

magnolia1 · 29/06/2007 17:38

I have been toying with the idea myself but you lot have made my mind up

I will just have to wear the mini skirt without

doughnuts · 29/06/2007 19:07

oh toesch -I'm sure you are a very stylish person !
