Does anyone wear tights without knickers?

So, solve this one for me please.

If I wear a dress, I tend to have: knicker line, tights line. I have never found a brand of either that solves this problem. So far so bad, but I currently also have a tummy with a few more pounds than usual so I have three bumps, which makes wearing a dress so dispiriting that I have given up.

The only solutin I can think of is losing a few pounds (under way) and nt wearing knickers. I feel horribly self-conscious at the idea of going comando at all, let alone in a dress.

What do you do?

Second pair over the tights. Magic

Percy11 · 06/01/2019 16:51

@margaritasbythesea don’t go too big. Eg M&S tights might say on the back if you’re a 10-12 buy small. I’d buy medium instead.

waterplease · 06/01/2019 17:18

@Percy11 these ASOS ones are actually amazing and so soft. So yes, you can get comfortable thongs. :)
They're cheap and seamless too.

I'm not sure of your weight though OP so don't know if they'd be super comfy if you're overweight.

WWWWicked · 06/01/2019 17:21

I don't wear tight without knickers but these look good and keep appearing on my instagram!

Percy11 · 06/01/2019 17:22

@waterplease oooh I like the look of those! Thanks. They’ll be added to my basket (in a medium!)

Ginger153 · 06/01/2019 17:23

I go for pants a size up so they don't cut in and Tesco body shaper tights. They're great, and the extra stretchy-ness of them means they cling and smooth but without being too tight round the waist. More expensive than a standard multi pack but last far longer. I also wear a slip - m&s do great plain ones

waterplease · 06/01/2019 17:29

@Percy11 haha I'm glad I could help Grin (I'm a medium too😉) they really are so comfy.

coffeeneeded · 06/01/2019 17:45

Snag tights are awesome! They don't fall down.

Or (if you're feeling flush) the best tights i own are from heist. No seams- huge waistband- no lumps or bumps.

I'm a size 14-16 with a, leftover from a twin pregnancy, tummy

Jojoanna · 06/01/2019 17:50

I wear tights no knickers

geekaMaxima · 06/01/2019 18:25

Heist tights. The high top version.

I don't wear tights often because I normally hate the things, but Heist tights were a revelation... actually comfortable and don't move / fall down at all.

user1457017537 · 06/01/2019 18:27

I wear tights with no knickers

2cats2many · 06/01/2019 18:28

How about wearing a different style of dress? Skater style maybe?

LordPickle · 06/01/2019 18:29

I don't know your budget OP but Victoria's Secret sell these amazing pants called "shorties" and i wear them with tights with no problem. They are the only pants that work for me with tights.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 06/01/2019 18:30

I’d be worried about the formation of static charge between pubes and tight if I decided to go commando in that sense. My hair would probably stand up like I was gripping a Van Der Graf generator.

AmeliaMae · 06/01/2019 18:51

When I was much younger and used to go clubbing in tight dresses I always wore tights with no knickers. My friend did this as well. It was tights with a cotton gusset never had any problems.

CrazySheepLady · 06/01/2019 18:51

Wear tights under big knickers, so the tights don't roll down?

Bloominglovely · 06/01/2019 18:52

I’ve found my tights fall down because I need to size up.

I’ve noticed it too with my young daughter. She is six (average weight but not slender iykwim) and when she wears tights that she is growing out of, she is always trying to pull them up. It is because they are not high enough on her waist. Obv she wears wool tights and VPLs do not concern her 😀

ChodeofChodeHall · 06/01/2019 18:59

Just wear a slip with dresses. It smooths it all out.

CherryPavlova · 06/01/2019 19:10

Heist tights are good but so are M&S autograph velvet luxe ones.
Wear a dress that doesn’t cling?
No vpl knickers.
Stop fretting as nobody really cares that you are wearing knickers/tights and the line shows.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 06/01/2019 20:19

I wear knickers and hold-ups. Tights without knickers sounds very unpleasant to me.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 06/01/2019 20:20

Can someone recommend a decent slip then as I have to wear one under my spring weight maternity dresses (that are a bit too cleavage for my liking)

OneMoreForExtra · 06/01/2019 20:27

Opaque tights with cotton gusset are basically big pants with feet - really don't get the squeamishness. I wear them all the time with no pants. The idea of pants/tights/pants makes me feel claustrophobic!

CottonSock · 06/01/2019 20:33

I didn't like snag tights which was disappointing. I'm a bit obsessed with vpl and my generous arse so following this thread closely

margaritasbythesea · 07/01/2019 07:07

Thanks for all your responses.

The dresses I'm thinking about are knitted dresses. I've always thought that a slip underneath would cause a lot of static as slips usually seem to be man-made fabric. Am I wrong in this?
