Wanted to get an idea of good brands/styles before I go shopping, as wont have time to browse with 6 week old baby.
Would prefer jeasn with some stretch in them.
Any ideas? TIA

Have you got loads of money ? Those Not my daughters Jeans look fantastic, I'd have bought those post baby.

Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:22

the Rome ones from Per Una (i know, awful, but hear me out) have been designed with actual women's waists in mind so aren't uncomfortably hipsterish.

Pannacotta · 27/06/2007 22:22

Not sure on budget as I dont know how long it will take me to get back in my old jeans. Got a bit wider round the hips this time round... Suppose I am open minded.
What are the Not my Daughters? Havent heard of them...

well the M&S ones cost about £25. they're straight leg, dark blue, quite inoffensive.

meant to say are these the M&S ones you meant? they look wuite straight, do you think they would look ok with a jelly belly? thought a more bootleg style might be more flattering...

OP posts:
Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:26

i've got them, i like 'em. but then i have no arse and skinny legs so hipsters that fit me there look RID-iculous when they hit my wobbly tum. there are also Paris ones (I know, awful) designed for the pear-shaped woman.

Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:27

bootleg is deeply, deeply, deeply over. rome for apples, paris for pears.

AllBuggiedOut · 27/06/2007 22:27

I found ones that came too high (ie to my waist) actually look worse than hispter ones because they give all that extra bulk over tummy area with button, zip etc. I found best was lower cut and a not to clingy top to hide the flab... Current faves were £25 from TK Maxx, made by Seven.

Pannacotta · 27/06/2007 22:29

but what about columns Aitch? Ie straight up and down, which is more or less my figure type.
Not too worried about what is in/out, more what looks ok and fits, never did buy skinny jeans as they just dont flatter my body...

Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:29

that's a good price for Seven jeans.

hhhmm, i am not experienced with a column. what's your feel re: hipsters?

foxinsocks · 27/06/2007 22:31

is this your first baby?

tbh, I didn't fit or feel comfortable in jeans for months and months

I know it might be different for you but I really would leave it till you have had the baby.

Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:31

i think the thing with the per una ones is that they don't dig in at teh waist. i reckon they're worth trying on, tbh. regular straight leg, though, not skinny not boot.

foxinsocks · 27/06/2007 22:32

oh sorry, have re-read post and realise that you have the baby already!!

Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:32

hang on... are you still pregnant? lol. wait awhile.

Aitch · 27/06/2007 22:32

foxy...

Pannacotta · 27/06/2007 22:32

I like hipsters when slim with no extra weight but only 6 weeks after giving birth I def have some poundage round the old midriff.
Perhaps looser fit jeans just below waist would work as Psychobabble suggests, just cant face digging around in TKMaxx...

foxinsocks · 27/06/2007 22:33

I have those per una ones and they are quite comfortable (though fairly tight around the waist - tighter than most jeans I find)

AllBuggiedOut · 27/06/2007 22:33

Yes Aitch, TK Maxx is fab, isn't it!

Suspect, Pannacotta, that comfort will be major consideration - don't forget to try sitting in your favourite feeding positions when trying on as that's what you'll be doing in those jeans

Pannacotta · 27/06/2007 22:33

x posted there
yes have had baby, its the second and the amount of wine I am drinking it may be a while before I get my pre-baby belly back!

foxinsocks · 27/06/2007 22:34

aitch, wasn't sure if she meant shopping now (while pregnant) because she wouldn't have time once she'd had the baby (iyswim) but re-reading it, she must mean won't have time shopping with a 6 week old baby
