Lip Balm Replacement.

The lip balm I’ve been using multiple times on a daily basis for many years (NIVEA Hydro Care Lip balm) has recently been reformulated. Unfortunately it doesn’t work anymore and the smell is revolting.

I’m on the hunt for a new one that hopefully works just as well.
I’m in panic mode because I’ve only got two left of the old version which I located in Bodycare in amongst the new ones.
It needs to be in stick form, goes on quite smoothly, smells mild or unscented, very moisturising and needs to be reasonably priced.

Any recommendations please?

Nuxe Reve de Miel. Best one on the market, used it for years Smile

I like burt's bees, but recently got a freebie neal's yard one that is v nice.

LaPampa · 02/01/2019 23:55

I have one I bought in New York by a brand called Bite which is good. I also like Burts bees and Bioderma.

Holidayshopping · 02/01/2019 23:55

I use the Nuxe-it’s fab stuff.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 02/01/2019 23:56

Ohhhh I had a Neal’s yard hand cream last year (also a freebie, come to think of it), it was excellent. Kinda makes we want to try their lip balm...

I like Palmer’s Cocoa butter lip balm.

I buy whatever’s on offer when I run out. This time it was Blistex, actually very good.

Honey Bee Beautiful "Guard Bee" lipbalm is lovely.

I swear by Malibu lip balm.
I get a pack of 3 in Home Bargains £1

Very smooth texture, they are scented though.

Bodycare and B&M still have the old versions where I live. Might be worth checking out in your area. I’ve been in a bought practically all the stock!

I used to love Burt's Bees but they have changed formulation so that it now has soy oil in it, which I react to. I tried a few different ones from the health food shop and the one that I like the best is AloeDent Aloe Vera lip balm.

Tartyflette · 14/01/2019 15:10

Boots own brand (blue and white tube, plain white stick and don’t go for any of the ’flavoured’ ones.)
It’s very mildly scented and is thick without being sticky. ; I’ve been using it for many years and it works a treat for me. cheapo too.

WildFlower2019 · 14/01/2019 15:20

Another vote for Palmer’s Cocoa butter lip balm.

My O'Keefes is not at all crumbly

Sitranced · 14/01/2019 16:00

Malibu, scented but not overpowering - the mint one is lovely.

GobblersKnob · 14/01/2019 17:09

Eight hour. There is nothing else like it. Get the unscented if you are smell sensitive as the original is quite medical smelling. Usually fairly cheap from Amazon, or get it here. I use it as lip balm, cuticle cream, hand cream, highlighter, hair tamer and after sun and a small tube generally lasts me at least 2/3 years, so it's a bargain really.

Goldenears1983 · 06/05/2019 15:11

OP I’m in the same situation as you.

I’ve found a really good lip balm very similar to Nivea:

Mellor & Russell Derma Intensive+ Lip Balm.

£2 for 3 in Tesco.

TheCanterburyWhales · 06/05/2019 20:54

Carmex for me has been a lifesaver.
I splashed out on Decleor and Nuxe ones at Christmas, and they are OK if you just have a bit of a dry lip, but for me (if I don't put lip balm on before bed I wake up with cracks and blood) they were no good at all.
I've tried 8 hour but like the face 8 hour I find it Emperor's new clothes.
I have some Roche Posay Lipikar at the moment, but tbh, it seems like vaseline.
Will go back to Carmex once this lot is finished.

Used to use Palmer's which is good, then i couldn't find any in the US when my lips decided to become chapped after my flight, so had to get Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment. They have a UK version which i use now.

Duster12 · 06/05/2019 21:09

It soothed my chapped lips straight away, i practically ripped the packet open at the till and applied it there and then 😆
