Oh wise people of S&B, please find me a hobo style bag. It needs to:

• be large (at least approx. 30x30)
• have a longer cross body strap as well as a grab handle
• be black, dark brown or oxblood
• ideally have a zip at the top, rather than just open
• be leather

I feel like I’ve looked everywhere!

Could you buy a long leather strap or use one off another bag - might make those where you've mentioned the strap is the issue more workable

I second looking on etsy. I have just taken up leather working as a hobby (still rubbish) we have loads of exceptionally great leather workers in Britain, most of which sell on etsy.

I’m afraid I’ve gone rogue...I decided I couldn’t justify hundreds on a bag when it’ll likely end up with squashed bananas and snotty tissues in it, so I’ve gone off spec and ordered this from Boden (no zip! No long strap!) and also ordered a cross body strap from Etsy which I hope will match fairly well.

I was going to suggest you go rogue with Cath Kidston but I didn't want to have to hand in my S&B credentials!

I also completely forgot that I saw some pretty nice bags at Joules recently... But I'm glad you found something that you think will work for you!

TK Maxx has a number of Osprey bags at the moment including a nice black leather hobo bag of the size you wanted, with zips for £69. The compromise would be the strap length, but worth having a look on their website.

I'm always put off Osprey by the sheer numbers of them stocked in TKMax.

Personally I am a Radley fan but am older. I would go for a small cross body for your personal bits and something for £50 max for the child related grunge and shove it on the buggy.

Look at the grab bags

Look at these ones - not leather but they are good quality - my Mia day bag has lasted 3 years so far and I’m not swapping!!
DD DSis and DN all have the same one in different styles - and I’ll buy a friend one for her birthday

They seem to design well with handles and compartments etc

I’m back! The Boden bag is going back as it doesn’t really work cross body and I’ve decided a zip-up too is a must have. I think I might order one from Osprey, one from Radley and one from Fossil and see where I get to!

I haven’t seen this model but saw another bag from this brand in John Lewis and liked the look of it. I’m also going to link to another range that I saw today that don’t particularly have a hobo but have nice shapes and have some really great discounts in case somebody else is tempted. I post below.
