Fit Flop D'Orsay Superskate Loafers - Yay or Nay?

Hi there, I am seriously considering a pair of these for kicking around in or for commuting before changing into prettier shoes (standing on the tube in rush hour is not a pleasure and don't want to cripple myself).

I saw these in the FitFlop sale and wanted opinions please. Are they too grannyish or does the loafer styling and cut down sides keep them respectable for an early 40's gal?

Hmmm I'm not averse to an f-sporty and always avoided their ballet flats. These are quite nice actually..

Hoppinggreen · 27/11/2018 19:31

I don’t hate them

FluffikinsTheThird · 27/11/2018 19:35

Good god no.

Heismyopendoor · 27/11/2018 19:36

The sole is horrible. The top view is quite nice but that sole!! Nooooo!

florabel · 27/11/2018 20:10

Fluffikins and Heismyopendoor ha ha! Don't hold back GrinGrinGrin

lease and Hopping, I am not going to look or feel Gisele Bundchen-ish in them but in crappy British winter weather and having to stand for 40 mins to commute, just want something that won't hobble me or look like Rosa Klebb! Would be worn with trousers or with black opaques so hoping they would sort of 'disappear' visually...

These are the ones Uma Thurman had a hand in promoting/designing.. at least they aren't the gold ones which I think belong firmly in cruise ship wardrobe territory!

They are grim.

Wear trainers for the commute - less gopping.

fringegrin45 · 27/11/2018 20:16

Gold fit flops! Good grief

I think these are ok for everyday stuff but the cut out sides not all that sensible for a winter commute, though the sole lifts it a bit

Low heeled boots or brogues better for winter

florabel · 27/11/2018 20:17

Ed, I need something comfortable but made of leather to cope with wet weather

KeysHairbandNotepad · 27/11/2018 20:19

Wear leather trainers. Please don't buy those things.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 27/11/2018 20:19

They'll do the job.
All the fitflops I have had have been super comfortable, more than trainers. They will as you say disappear.

florabel · 27/11/2018 20:34

They work out at £31 with all the discounts plus free delivery. The only other ones that are OK are in the region of £80 which I just don't have money for at the moment. They have the F sporty sneakers for a couple of quid more but they. have white soles??

This is what the pic of the model wearing them is like

These are the F Sporty sneakers - leather as an alternative and within budget.

They aren’t as smart though
I do prefer them but for work I would probably go or the first ones, especially at that price

shecamefromgreece · 27/11/2018 22:20

Jesus my eyes!!!
No just no.
Second ones are a bit better but im sure you could find something nicer.

MsJolly · 27/11/2018 22:24

Fuck me those are well fuglyShock

florabel · 27/11/2018 22:28

Not to wear IN work but just to walk to station and stand on tube before changing shoes inside.

I used to work at FitFlop HQ. Product tested A LOT of shoes. Don't buy their closed toe / sneaker type shoes. They rub awfully, its like the fit was never right and I always got blisters. Their sandals on the other hand - live in them all summer, every summer.

florabel · 27/11/2018 22:34

I guess that I should have put a 'viewer discretion' advised warning on this thread lol! You guys have tickled me as I am imagining you all reaching for the smelling salts!

Sinead100 thanks s much for the insider info although I am surprised that you have outed yourself given the reactions here tee hee!

Meh, not my company and I wasn't anybody important (!) So it doesn't bother me what people think of them! Sadly, none of their ballet pumps, boots, sneakers or loafers were ever comfortable past the first hour or so.

I would hope that others in similar situations would also tell us when it is or isnt worth us spending our money on not inexpensive footwearGrin
