Fit Flop D'Orsay Superskate Loafers - Yay or Nay?

Hi there, I am seriously considering a pair of these for kicking around in or for commuting before changing into prettier shoes (standing on the tube in rush hour is not a pleasure and don't want to cripple myself).

I saw these in the FitFlop sale and wanted opinions please. Are they too grannyish or does the loafer styling and cut down sides keep them respectable for an early 40's gal?

They look like something Hotter would stock.
Or perhaps one of those shoes advertised in the back of a Sunday newspaper’s magazine.
Not for the under 65s.
Sorry, but you did ask.,.......

I have repented and turned away from the path of shame known as FitFlop. You have shown me the light and that the true path does not mean Nana shoes! For a terrible moment I was seduced by the demon of FitFlop into thinking 'Hmm, cheap price and they look comfy!'. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! GrinGrinGrin Shall save my pennies and look elsewhere... does anyone have any suggestions for more stylish but comfortable closed shoes for winter commuting?

Try Gabor

I've been wearing Fitflops for a few years. I'm mid 30s. Bloody comfortable; who gives a crap what they look like. But then I work on a shipyard so I'm switching mine for steel toecap boots. I've got the black patent Oxfords with the tassle laces.

BobbinThreadbare123, I have been looking at Dune, Office etc and it seems that loafers with thick soles are everywhere right now, from high end stores to bargain stores. It doesn't matter what store I have looked at online, unless one is wearing boots (I can't wear super flat boots but don't want a heel ecause of having to stand) then ALL of the winter proof shoes are going down the frumpy/sensible line and that includes for 20 somethings. I need something with good support as I get recurrent plantar fasciitis in my left foot and lower back problems so very flat or heels are absolutely no good for me for walking or standing for any length of time. Having slept on it, I am sort of coming around to the thought that who gives a monkey's because they will literally be shoes for 'in transit' and only Hoppinggreen has actually come up with any decent alternatives I am really open to suggestions so if anyone has any, throw 'em my way Smile

Yes I started wearing them to help with plantar fasciitis. They do the trick!

My suggestion is to be comfortable and not care who thinks they are gopping. It is not your job to look ornamental and if your shoes offend people it's their problem not yours.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel, I am thinking that I agree with you. It seems that sensible black loafers/brogues of some type are the way to go. They will be worn with trousers or black opaque tights so hopefully, they will 'disappear' visually anyway. I am not going to be looking like a sex kitten in the damp, windy, grey London winter and though there are some gorgeous shoes out there, they are definitely 'car to bar' and not 15 minute walk to station, 40 minute ride then further 15 mins on foot in rain/cold. x
