Can a size 14/16 apple shape wear a bikini??

If not, what else can I wear & where would I buy something??

I am off to France in 2 weeks time. I have 2 full swimming costumes that I wear to the pool at home, but would like something for holidays.

Can I wear a tankini?

Would you laugh at a fatty on the beach in a bikini?

I value honesty.

Of course you can wear a bikini! I certainly did at that size. It's entirely up to you how you feel about yourself. If you feel more comfortable in a tankini, then go for that option.

WanderingTrolley · 19/06/2007 21:48

imo, if you're on holiday, everyone can fark off, and you can do what you like

I would not larf at a fatty on the beach, and I don't consider you one btw, I yearn to be a 16.

I am so far beyond 'fatty' myself that if I lay on a beach some blardy do-gooder would attempt to roll me back into the waves.

'Be free, orca, be free!'

Get yourself a fab bikini or two and come back with a glowing tan.

TippiHedren · 19/06/2007 21:49

Yes absolutley!

Pannacotta · 19/06/2007 21:51

Of course, there is some great advice on bikini styles and fit on www.cocobay.co.uk

fireflyfairy2 · 19/06/2007 21:53

I think perhaps a bikini top that has lots of support like an underwired bra... and high wasted pants

Nah, a tankini it will be I think!

My stretch marks have faded a bit & I would feel better in a tankini.

Might order some online though so I don't have to look at myself in harsh changing room mirrors.

DOnt think high wasited bottoms are the best on apple shapes (also am a bit appley myself).
perhaps try a hipster pant in a size big enough not to cut in or a tankini.
Seafolly do some glam bikinis and tankinis.
Figleaves.com also worth a look plus swimhut.com.
Hope you find sth nice

fireflyfairy2 · 19/06/2007 22:43

Oh hadn't thought about hipster bottoms.

The coco ones were very expensive But then that may be the price of them & I have just never noticed before.

I think bikinis are nicer than tankinis. You look slimmer

You'll look fab!

GLoveandSpecialSauce · 19/06/2007 22:44

come one girl... don't buy a bikini online... you must try lots before finding the right one....

MarsLady · 19/06/2007 22:45

Oh and I got my bikinis from BHS... they were amazing! I looked so good

There's a BHS in town, might go in a run tomorrow afternoon for a nosey.

What colours work best on bigger boobs?

And yes... I have never worn a bikini before.. should I stick to the swimsuits? But aren't they too warm on the beach?

I suit chocolate browns & greens.

Nothing really bright, like neon yellow or anything... I know that is a bad example but I remember going on holiday 3 months preg with dd & I tried on a bikini, that was triangle bits & bright yellow.

I came home & cried & stuck to t-shirts over a swim suit...and I was a size 12 then.

I had never worn a bikini before St Lucia earlier this year. Blardy liberating!

I had to buy a size 18 top to get my boobs in comfortably, but I looked and felt sexy! I had an apple green and white horizontal striped one and a red and white floral (but not busy) one. Wondrous! I will never wear a swimsuit or tankini on hols again!
