Where to buy a decent quality leather handbag these days?

Used to love Mulberry but think they’re really overpriced now and the quality isn’t as good - and don’t have that money to spend anymore!

Looking for a decent quality leather every day handbag - in a bit of a sucker for cross bodies but if they’re not cross body I like a strap big enough to go over the shoulder, none of this crook of the arm business!

Really don’t love Michael Kors and tbh doesn’t need to be a “brand” as such just after the quality!

sorry for double post but does anyone rate Osprey or Fossil?

Got a lovely Coach bag in the sale if that helps?

LuxuryWoman2018 · 04/11/2018 17:27

I have 2 Osprey bags and 2 purses so yes I like them. Coach bags are lovely quality. I am surprised by how nice some of the bags are in M&S are this year and I’ve had some great bags from a company called My Exquisite I found via Facebook.

TK Maxx is always worth a look and although you don’t like MK bags I find they are good quality and hard wearing so maybe worth another look for the more discreet ones.

A lot of people here rate fossil but I don’t have any.

Oh, brand alley had some lovely jaeger bags in the last few days, non flashy and lovely looking. I’m very tempted 😊

Leather isn't everything when it comes to handbags. I use all sorts; fabric crossbody ones (Radley) for day, a woven silk tweed or vintage velvet for evening and all kinds of stuff in between.

Si1ver · 04/11/2018 17:49

I've got a couple of lovely bags from Conka.

EmpressJewel · 04/11/2018 17:53

Try;

Coach (I think they have good sales after Christmas)

Coccinelle (I have a purse from there which is a few years old and still is perfect condition).

Blondie mania (came across them on here).

ChishandFips33 · 04/11/2018 17:59

I have had many fossil bags for years - the ones I have take a beating and wear it well!

Coach get good reviews on here - usually have good sales after Christmas

Not leather but Elvis and Kresse use decommissioned fire hose for their robust but lightweight bags

mmmgoats · 04/11/2018 18:00

hmm good point about waiting for the sales after christmas...
Never had a Coach bag, they do look lovely though
Will check out the sites suggested thanks :)

Have a look at fairfax & Favour or Fubarry! More equestrian but good prices for the quality! X

BeaLola · 04/11/2018 19:02

I have quite a few Osprey - bought from local outlet and all are very good. I also have 2 Coach that I bough online after Christmas in sale and they are fab, I think I took a punt as hadn't seen in flesh but they had free returns . They are lovely quality and i have used them constantly.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 04/11/2018 19:16

What do people think of Radley? Just asking as I had my eye on one but it was expensive. I've had some bitchy put down comments about an M & S handbag that I thought was perfectly fine and I don't see the need to bring posh handbags to the stupid school gate.. but after this I don't trust my own judgement anymore. Would love to know what MNetters think.

TheWombat · 04/11/2018 19:22

I quite like:
www.demellierlondon.com
www.aurora-london.com
www.strathberry.com

(Although Strathberry is approaching Mulberry prices..)

AnnaMagnani · 04/11/2018 19:28

Can I recommend www.tusting.co.uk - super quality, will refurbish your bag when it gets worn and if you can get to their factory in Bedfordshire they have regular factory sales.

I love my bag from them and am slowly building up a collection.

OrcinusOrca · 04/11/2018 19:39

I love my Cambridge Satchel. They do some bags that are not satchel like too.

LizzieBennettDarcy · 04/11/2018 19:42

We've got a local Osprey outlet and I'm completely in love with the current one I'm using. It's a red tote, no zips and the most buttery soft leather. It was around £200 instead of £400. I've got several others and a couple of purses.

Always struck me as very good quality.

SoftSheen · 04/11/2018 19:44

I really love my leather Radley bag.

PoshPenny · 04/11/2018 19:45

I went in the coach shop at Bicester shopping village and thought their bags were lovely and very reasonably priced. Why are leather bags so expensive these days? My daughter tells me that the new designer at Coach used to be at Mulberry.

mrwalkensir · 04/11/2018 19:46

Blondie Mania (although they may have changed their name to a more "commercial" one as the cheery name apparently didn't reflect their beautiful quality and practicality). When they're at shows like the Malvern Spring show, you can pick them up half price...

Coach and fossil are excellent generally

EdWinchester · 04/11/2018 19:49

Thanks to my generous husband, my day-to-day bag is a Mulberry Bayswater. I will admit to completely abusing it, but nonetheless, it is showing sign of wear much more than the Osprey tote I used previously.

I've just bought a tote for work from Azurina, not expensive, good quality and style

VanillaSugary · 04/11/2018 20:20

Aspinal- absolutely love them!!

coffeeagogo · 04/11/2018 20:37

I bought my last bag from here: www.demellierlondon.com - it is gorgeous quality and I love their designs
