Orange shoes - what do we think?

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 07:45

I am sure Aitch mentioned them on my epic skirt thread and at the time I thought Noooooooooooo

however now I am coming round to the idea

I have been trying to find a nice pair of brown pumps for ages, and it now occurs to me that orange shoes with e.g. a brown dress would look a lot more interesting than brown shoes with same

They are a nice shade of orange not dayglo.

Orange crocs?

ChippyMinton · 15/06/2007 07:49

No no, crocs in 'Sienna' (burnt orange) more tasteful

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 07:49

Nooooooooooooooooooooo nice pumps with a kind of flower on the front, I don't know how to describe them

(well actually they are cheapy shit shoes from a shit shoe shop but I am not in funds and I need something to wear for going out tomorrow night AND they look nice. Probably rub like hell and make my feet smell vile, but...)

link?

i have some pinky-orange-brown fly london kitten heels which are rather fabulous, so i vote for them. what's the rest of the outfit like?

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 07:57

You can't link to Shoeworld, I don't think

I have loads of things I could wear with them, I think

I have a new chocolate brown linen smocky pinafore dress (12 quid Dotty Ps - may start new thread actually) and that's what I want to wear them with

I also have brown sundress, brown and orange skirt, brown and orange tunic dress...I think I need orange shoes and I can't believe it only just occurred to me

WaynettaSlob · 15/06/2007 08:01

Please say they're not going to be too orange - otherwise people will only look at your feet...

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 08:03

I think they are a nice tangeriney colour

I don't know

I shall have to go and peruse further and report back

any links to nice (pref comfy) pumps in orange gratefully received, in case these don't work out

I think turquoise would be a better option. Unless you have gorgeous ankles, and great tanned legs.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 08:09

of course I have gorgeous ankles

I am not going to be showing vast amounts of leg anyway

they are not vastly dissimilar to these I suppose but have a little flower made out of strands of the same material, instead of the bow

I want to think orange shoes may work.

But all I can see in my head are those bright illuminous 80's colours.

Chopster · 15/06/2007 08:13

owww, my eyes, my eyes!

Ignore me, I'm a croc wearer.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 08:18

I don't think they are quite as bright as that

I don't know

I haven't actually been in to look at them I have just been walking past all week until eventually "mmmmmm.....orange shoes" got into my subconscious

harpsichordcuddler · 15/06/2007 08:43

oooh yes orange shoes fine as long as rest of outfit not orange
we have a shoe world too will check them out today

indiasmum · 15/06/2007 09:01

ghosty, my 4 yo ds has orange crocs. theyre very nice. if youre a small boy.

franneyandzooey, sorry, back to your orange shoes. i think they might look cool with skinny jeans andn not much else colour. i think the whole orange and brown matching outfit might be a mistake personally. a bit too 70s curtains and swirly carpet for my liking.
so in answer i think potentially yes to the shoes but only with something dark and 'quiet' iykwim

CuddlesomeCod · 15/06/2007 09:40

I like orange.

It suits me. Cod, we have very similar colouring, i think, so how come it doesn't suit you ?

ahundredtimes · 15/06/2007 09:47

F&Z - orange and brown is a bit well, Malory Towers isn't it! I quite like orange though, I once had a great pair of suede orange shoes, but could only wear when very very brown.

Green?

fireflyfairy2 · 15/06/2007 09:58

I like them

My sister has a pair of coloured pumps to go with every outfit.

So you can imagine how we laughed on Saturday night when she turned up to go out in a bright orange sun top, a pair of jean cut offs & bright otange shoes..... plus a 3 string of orange beads, 4 orange bracelets & orangle dangly earrings

We argued about who was going to walk in beside her when we got to the pub!

CuddlesomeCod · 15/06/2007 10:13

mathcing is NOT good is it?

erm ornage i duno
no good for me
aheva pink hue to complexion

MrsBadger · 15/06/2007 11:55

I would

but then I am a Wearer of Orange

probably as the only orange item in an otherwise brwon/tan outfit though.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 11:57

LOL everyone has just convinced me MORE

swirly 70s curtains fab

Malory Towers fab

Cod I love the Office pumps but where were the orange ones?

I think I am not going to be too terribly matching as the skirt and dress I have with orange on have lots of other colours on too. But you might be right, will be on the alert for alarming matchingness

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2007 11:58

MrsB can I wear say brown / orange / pink smock, jeans and orange shoes?

If I wear all brown I look like a librarian

and orange and black would be kind of Halloweeny
