SUNGLASSES : Designer or cheapo ones?

Every summmer the same dilemma....

I don't see the point in spending over £150 n a pair of sunglasses when I ame either going to lose them or break them...

I don't seem to be able to have the same pair for two seasons in a row...

What about you?

Well if you're like me and lose them all the time then cheap ones. Eve are giving away a pair with next months magazine I think

DulwichDolly · 13/06/2007 09:27

i've just broke my second pair from Topshop... so far 2 pairs @ £16.00 = £32 squids on silly sunglasses!

I got some Micheal Kors ones from TK Maxx for £9.99.

Desinger for less

DulwichDolly · 13/06/2007 09:29

i got a pair of CD ones that have lasted 3 seasons but they seem so out of fashion.... so imo designer last longer but they go out of fashion so quick

I would NEVER spend £150 on sunglasses. What's the point? The cheaper ones look just as good and do the same job. Plus, you can have several pairs and leave them in the car/different handbags etc.

Wolfgirl · 13/06/2007 09:35

I bought a pair of Ted Bakers from Boots last summer . I did my best to look after them, always put them back in the case they came with etc. All went well....right up until a week or so back, when they got nicked out of my car. So went back to a cheap pair I used to wear for cycling, and now lost those too.

The TB fitted beautifully and tbh I COULD tell the difference (but am open to persuasion that I was psycologically twisted into believing this becasue they were way over what I would normally pay for SG's)

Im desperate for SG now, and will pop into TK Max see what cheapies they have, as can no way justify paying out for expensive pair this time round. But if I could.... I would.

dustystar · 13/06/2007 09:37

Cheap for me - if I don't break them or lose them ds is guarenteed to do it for me.

BishyBarneyBee · 13/06/2007 09:39

cheap for day to day and expensive for when I want to look nice or I know they wont be lost / broken.

NoodleStroodle · 13/06/2007 09:41

Expensive because I find the cheap ones just don't work. Oakley's rather than Armani.

francagoestohollywood · 13/06/2007 09:44

I'm short-sighted and need the right lenses. But I'm fed up of spendimg so much money for glasses, that I decided I don't buy sunglasses anymore. I have a very old pair of ray ban, I can wear them for another 10 yrs.

NoodleStroodle · 13/06/2007 09:46

Am going out and can't find sunglasses!

FFS

francagoestohollywood · 13/06/2007 09:48

It's cloudy here

francagoestohollywood · 13/06/2007 09:48

nuddle, I'm always searching for my glasses. I think I lost one year of my life in this activity...

NoodleStroodle · 13/06/2007 09:49

It's really bright & sunny here - could not drive without them...

francagoestohollywood · 13/06/2007 09:49

sorry noodle

WaynettaSlob · 13/06/2007 09:49

There are some nice ones here
i like the way the home page calls the glasses "you can afford to lose"!!

SSSandy2 · 13/06/2007 09:49

franca I have my age old raybans as well! I was thinking of getting some of those huge fly-eye type ones but not sure if they're OTT. Think summer will be over before I decide

spykid · 13/06/2007 09:50

TKMAXX

got pair of Oscar delerenta for 9.99
lush

CatIsSleepy · 13/06/2007 09:51

might as well go cheap if they look nice...they'll be just as effective at blocking out sun (y'know...what they're actually for...). vaguely recall some tv thing where they tested loads of sunglasses for ability to block UV. even the cheapest did the job.

oliveoil · 13/06/2007 09:52

you can tell the difference with the expensive pairs though

I had some £££££ ones in Australia as my cheapos were rubbish, I just squinted the whole time

atm I have some from H&M for £4.99

francagoestohollywood · 13/06/2007 09:53

ssandy I love huge sun glasses, I actually think that they could suit me... but I won't be tempted, I've been wearing glasses since I was 1...

SSSandy2 · 13/06/2007 09:56

do you franca? I wasn't sure about them but I feel a shopping urge coming over me... might get some cheapo ones and see how I like wearing them

also need some new underwear, some nice sandals.....

expatinscotland · 13/06/2007 09:58

cheapo.

it's just one more thing to keep track of.

PITA.

TheBlonde · 13/06/2007 10:06

cheap from H&M as the toddler breaks them if he gets his mitts on them

I did get some mid range ones from Boots when they had the 1/2 price offer
