What's the one beauty trick / item you never thought you'd try but now can't live without?

For me it's sheet masks all the way.

Always looked at them and thought they were a gimmicky waste of time. I judgementally cackled every time I saw one on instagram.

Now I'm running around the house in my charcoal sheet mask looking like Batman every second day – it's made the hugest difference to my skincare of anything I've done in years...

What did you never think you'd try but now swear by?

Fillers.

GVmama · 02/10/2018 16:52

I might try a sheet mask now, they've never appealed before!

Mine would be home lip waxing. I would have never thought I'd need to or want to wax my own top lip, and now here I am waxing every few weeks. It takes me about 20 seconds, costs pennies a time (using little wax strips) and it works!!

hairbearbitch · 02/10/2018 17:02

What is a sheet mask?

onlyconnect · 02/10/2018 17:22

Acid toner: it's made a massive difference to my skin. I have fewer spots and clearer, brighter skin

Lottapianos · 02/10/2018 17:24

Acid toning here too

And bronzer. Im pale faced and used to worry that it would make me look orange. Now I wear it every day. It makes my face look much more awake and adds some shape to my round face

zippyswife · 02/10/2018 17:41

Almond oil. My skin has never been in better condition. It has transformed it from dry dehydrated rosacea prone skin to lovely soft normal skin. It £2 and lasts a couple of years.

HarrySnotter · 02/10/2018 21:46

What acid toner do you use?

Lottapianos · 02/10/2018 21:47

At the moment, I use Lactic acid 10% from The Ordinary. What sort of skin do you have, Harry? Not all acids are right for all skin types

Sitranced · 02/10/2018 21:54

Firm hold mousse. I thought it was to use with curls and my poker straight hair could never hold a wave for longer than an episode of EastEnders. But a hairdresser used it to style it once and I've been converted. It gives my fine lank hair some volume and bounce well only a bit really but enough to make a difference.

Polkapjs · 02/10/2018 22:04

Eyeliner. I miss it if I haven’t got it on now but it’s a recent discovery

Petalflowers · 02/10/2018 22:06

Maybelline sure 24 (or what ever its s called) - lipstick stays on all day.

PouchofDouglas · 02/10/2018 22:07

Botox. You don’t dick about with creams

MrsEricBana · 02/10/2018 22:10

Acid toner here too - Nip & Fab Glycolic pads.

marmaladecats · 02/10/2018 22:14

Where do you get the sheet masks from OP?

MayFayner · 02/10/2018 22:16

Dyeing my own eyelashes (naturally blond eyelashes). I’ve done my own eyebrows on and off for years but thought eyelashes were too difficult. Turns out they’re not and I don’t have to spend €30 or €40 a month getting an eyelash and eyebrow tint.

lotta what bronzer do you use?
I’m pale too (obviously) and I use Smashbox halo powder but it ain’t what it used to be. I’m half-heartedly shopping around for a replacement.

Smellybears · 02/10/2018 22:18

No7 eyebrow sculpting pencil.
Never thought I’d use one as I always used to think of big fake slugs drawn on with what looked like a marker pen! But then mum bought me one to try and I love it! No slugs in site Wink

BillywigSting · 02/10/2018 22:20

Eyebrow pencil.

I've only recently got the hang of filling in my eyebrows without looking like groucho marx but the difference it makes to my face is enormous.

I can get away with no other make-up as long as my eyebrows are properly shaped and filled. Total revelation.

ChicagoLil · 02/10/2018 22:27

Vitamin C serum

keiratwiceknightly · 02/10/2018 22:29

Eyelash extensions

GrumpyOldMare · 02/10/2018 22:29

Coconut oil from Superdrug.

My skin loves it!

Smellybears · 02/10/2018 22:30

So glad someone else agrees regarding eyebrow pencil!
I was nervous about using one as I’m hopeless at doing make up and thought brows would be difficult. So simple though!

Nettletheelf · 02/10/2018 22:39

Acid toner and bronzer here too.

A friend recommended Nars Laguna liquid bronzer and it is bloody brilliant.

Elledorado · 02/10/2018 23:04

Years ago now but blusher.

madmomma · 02/10/2018 23:42

Eyebrow tattoos, powder under the eyes, contouring, bronzer (another pale moon face here) brown eyeliner rather than black.

LittleWingSoul · 03/10/2018 00:08

Epistick springy coil hair remover thing - only bought it a couple of weeks ago but wish I had known about it for all these years being hairy of face. Would have saved a lot of money and pain and I can now talk to people without fiddling with my top lip or putting my hand over my mouth to hide my tash.
