Do you wear heart jewellery?

I might be being daft but I have various bits of jewellery that feature hearts in some way (those Tiffany/Paloma Picasso earrings everyone used to have, pair of very pretty little pavé heart studs, couple of other bits) and I never wear them because I feel like hearts might be a bit childish. I'm late 30s and subscribe to the Meghan Markle school of understated jewellery Grin If you saw someone my age wearing heart jewellery would you think it looked a bit odd?

Not sure but I'm 40 and wouldn't wear hearts for the same reason. I also like understated jewellery

Tryingtogetitright · 25/09/2018 08:32

I hope it doesn't look odd or childish - my DH just bought me a heart bracelet for our wedding anniversary and I've been wearing it all the time! Think it depends on the style?

Tryingtogetitright · 25/09/2018 08:32

I'm v late 30s...

Waitingonasmiley42 · 25/09/2018 08:34

Early thirties and I would feel silly wearing heart jewellery. I wouldn’t judge anyone else wearing it though.

legolimb · 25/09/2018 08:35

I am older and would wear hearts. Am quite conservative in my jewellery wearing though and choose EITHER earrings or necklace.

AbeautifulBeast · 25/09/2018 08:38

I'm mid thirties and wear a heart shaped locket necklace that my husband bought for my birthday a few years ago and sometimes I wear heart shaped earrings.I think it depends on your personality tbh, if you are already questioning whether you should then I would say probably not if that makes sense 😁

ilovecherries · 25/09/2018 08:41

I am much older and have several pieces of heart jewellery. One is a silver pendant with a fairly solid heart, which hangs off centre from an edge rather than its middle. I also have earings. I never wear them at the same time though, and the pieces themselves are plain.

SD1978 · 25/09/2018 08:41

I don't like it, but I don't like several different jewellery styles (necklaces with children's names) or stars, hearts, etc. but I don't have to wear it, and I'm sure that some of my choices aren't someone else's cup of tea. I wouldn't pass verbal comment though (not saying you would either)!

oohyoudevilyou · 25/09/2018 09:40

I have a couple of necklaces with hearts on that I like wearing but I've had them ages and they were presents. Hearts are a wee bit romantic and whimsical for me, but I'm a solidly build, not particularly girlie 47 year old.

ToftheB · 25/09/2018 10:08

I’m not a massive fan of hearts - but I do love and regularly wear a heart shaped pendant that I got for my 18th birthday. It’s a sort of spikey garnet effort, so I hope it’s not too twee - but I don’t really care if it is because I love it!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 25/09/2018 10:22

I don't think there's a time where people can no longer wear heart jewellery.
I think it's a matter of personal preference and style, not age.

There are many really nice pieces of jewellery with hearts.

I have a few pieces of jewellery with hearts on, but I don't wear them at the moment because I tend to wear other things that seem to suit my (current) style better.

Maybe it's also a matter of fashion - rose gold, mixing metals and dainty jewellery have been in for a while, it's only a matter of time before we start seeing hearts, chunky jewellery and other styles again.

Jewellery should be a personal choice - I wear jewellery for myself (for sentimental reasons, because I like it, because it makes me happy, because I feel it looks good and so on), and I don't really care if other people think it's childish/ugly/too much.

Doobigetta · 25/09/2018 11:10

I wear loads of heart jewellery because I like simple, understated pieces. Very dramatic, large-scale statement stuff doesn’t work for me, and neither do busier hippyish styles. Never occurred to me that I was too old. The kind of things I’d put in the “too young” category would be animal motifs- kittens, unicorns, whatever. But I think it depends on your own style- I do go for a very safe and dull preppy look.

lolarose896 · 25/09/2018 11:23

I have heart shaped diamond earrings that my grandfather bought me before he died that I wear whenever I want to be close to him and a heart shaped necklace that my DH bought when when we met that I also wear.
I wouldn't buy heart shaped jewelry for myself because it's not really to my taste but when it carries sentimental value I wouldn't care what it looks like or what others think of it.

Sgtmajormummy · 25/09/2018 11:35

I’m 50 and have a few heart shaped things, some with sentimental value, like the only piece of DM’s jewellery I actually asked for, or a Lidl (!) set of nesting key ring hearts which I share with DD.
What you wear is entirely your choice and nobody else’s business.

GorgonLondon · 25/09/2018 11:39

Personally I think it looks childish so wouldn't wear myself but wouldn't judge someone else for it.

ArkAtEee · 25/09/2018 12:58

I'm 43 and wear a white gold heart pendant every day that my dh gave me not long after we got together. It never occurred to me that other people would think it childish, but I can't say that I care! Grin

tkband3 · 25/09/2018 13:03

I have a very simple Tiffany heart that DH gave me for our anniversary a few years ago. It has extra sentiment attached to it, because it was also in memory of our dog, who'd had to be put to sleep a couple of months before. I wear it every day unless I'm wearing a different necklace to go with a specific outfit. I'm nearly 50 and not 'girlie' at all Smile.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 25/09/2018 13:09

It depends on the style I think — I have a chubby little gold heart I wear a lot. I also have a silver one where it's an outline, half is plain, half has crystals, and that feels younger.

sonlypuppyfat · 25/09/2018 13:12

I've never heard so much rubbish. How on earth is heart shaped jewellery childish

Sleepthief · 25/09/2018 13:27

You wouldn't judge someone for it, except to say you think it looks childish Wink

I really can't be doing with this 'too old' shit - if you like it, wear it. The world would be a very dull place if we all looked like slight variations of each other. I love a bit of heart jewellery myself, but I'm talking big, in-your-face Perspex bits. Not to everyone's taste, but it suits me down to the ground Grin

myusernamewastakenbyme · 25/09/2018 15:16

I wear a small silver heart locket necklace...in fact i never take it off....i dont like big statement jewellery.

GorgonLondon · 25/09/2018 15:31

You wouldn't judge someone for it, except to say you think it looks childish

I wouldn't even notice it. The op specifically asked the question "would YOU wear it?"

Personally I wouldn't

YeTalkShiteHen · 25/09/2018 15:34

I’ve got a tiny Tiffany heart pendant that I wear with other necklaces sometimes.

YeTalkShiteHen · 25/09/2018 15:34

Late 30s too!

SenecaFalls · 25/09/2018 15:38

I have several heart shaped pieces that I wear sometimes. I don't think of it as childish, and I don't know anyone who does.
