Where do my fellow ‘petite’/short (!) people get tights from?

Every year I fall into the trap of grabbing packs from M and S and finding they wrinkle round the ankles like Nora Batty. This year I have bought shoes as well as boots for the winter so I really need tights that fit.
Where can I find these holy grail of tights that fit the very short?

If you've found this page in search of tights that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best tights useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Snag! Best tights ever! I'm five foot and fat and it's the only brand that doesn't roll at the ankles or leave dents round my middle.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 19/09/2018 07:39

Wolford.

Teenagemaw · 19/09/2018 07:41

Tk maax is where i go. Not sure of the make but they are really good.

ihatethecold · 19/09/2018 07:46

I need leggings that are petite and don’t wrinkle at the knee.
Any suggestions?
My Boden ones are fab but they have small holes in the legs now. Probably through overuse not because they are inferior.

Flaminghotcocoa · 19/09/2018 10:58

Teenagemaw - if you find out the make (and this thread is ancient by the time you are next in) please could you PM me :-)

DesperatelySeekingSnoozing - where can you get those? Online or are there any high street stores?

Riskit4biscuit - any particular style from Wolford?

Thanks fellow shorties!

4 foot 11 inches here and I get all mine from TK Maxx. I like Falke best but experiment with a different additional brand each year. Falke and Wolford are definitely best.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 19/09/2018 12:56

5 ft 1. TKMaxx were great but I've definitely done a lot of the Nora Batty look!

brassbrass · 19/09/2018 13:04

Primark always reliable. They did boot tights last year which had lovely padding on the sole. So comfortable! Not bought any this year.

peachgreen · 19/09/2018 13:15

Snag are the BEST. If you're a size 6-8 OP, if you PM me your address I'll send you some free ones! I bought them by mistake and they replaced them with my size and told me to pass these ones on but I don't know anyone IRL that petite.

DesperatelySeekingSnoozing · 19/09/2018 20:38

Sorry for late reply, snag are online. You won't regret it.

ShellieEllie · 19/09/2018 20:42

Agree Primark - I think they must scrimp on the length to keep the price down!. Just bought M&S petite leggings which seem good.

Flaminghotcocoa · 19/09/2018 21:44

Thanks peach but if you sewed those two together you might make enough room for one of my legs! Really kind offer though Star
I’m really relieved there are actually tights that fit out there, I’m going to try all suggestions and when I find the right ones I’m going to hide them from my (also petite) dd!!

That's why I love Snag so much, they make tights to fit height and size so you can get them just right. I appreciate I'm sounding like an ad here but I'm honestly just an evangelist, they're so great!

Flaminghotcocoa · 20/09/2018 19:28

Peach - They have slightly annoying sizing though! I’m a 14/16 and their sizes are 12-14 and 16-18! Grrrr. I’m still going to try them though Smile

Im sure its the falke ones I get. Nice and snug. @peach im a size 8 and could give the tights a home if you dont have anyone else in mind for them. (Hope thats not too cheeky)

Teenagemaw · 21/09/2018 08:31

@Flaminghotcocoa mark your ones with a blob of nail varnish inside the waistband so you know they are yours. Thats what we do in my house otherwise we fight over tights Grin

peachgreen · 21/09/2018 09:04

@Teenagemaw Not cheeky at all! They're in mustard, grey and burgundy I think. Are you under 5'6"? If so PM me your address and I'll get them posted out ASAP. Really pleased to be able to pass them on!

peachgreen · 21/09/2018 09:05

@Flaminghotcocoa I always size up because I find it more comfy and they don't fall down. Hope you get on well with them!

Flaminghotcocoa · 21/09/2018 13:13

@teenagemaw - genius! I’m definitely doing that!

Love the sound of all the funky colours peach Smile!

Thanks peach... will pm you now. Smile

MadamesNet · 23/09/2018 09:21

Do any of them do woolly ones or cable tights?

RiskIt4Biscuit · 23/09/2018 10:23

Flaminghotcocoa, no any style from Wolford is good IME. I mainly get the plain black/brown/nude tights, but I've had a lot of their tights through the last 20 years.

They last really well as well - I have some that are 10 years old and are still fine.
I've never had them go saggy or wrinkly.

ArfArfBarf · 23/09/2018 10:26

I bought snag tights following the last recommendation on here but managed to get a hole in them within an hour of wearing them for the first time so currently wouldn’t recommend. I bought 5 pairs though so fingers crossed the others will last a bit longer!
