How to wear / accessorize this dress for a wedding?

It's a jersey dress from Jigsaw - hope link works.

I do have more weddingy stuff but can't fit into it. Apple shaped 12/14, 5'4", struggling with autoimmune disease shit and medication and have put on weight that's gone straight to my stomach.

This dress disguises that and looks quite nice, but is also definitely on the casual side and am not sure what to put with it to make it more suitable.

Really don't want to buy a whole new outfit so would like to make this work. Wedding is early October and whole thing is in a hotel so unlikely to be outdoors much.

I have foot problems and can't keep slip on shoes on at all, so footwear is always an issue for me. I have wedge sandals in yellow that might coordinate. Also possibly some ivory sandals. No suitable shoes - literally the only shoes (ie not boots / trainers) I own are black. Are sandals going to look okay in October?

Not sure about handbags / clutches either. I absolutely have to have space to carry medication, eye drops, sweets for dry mouth etc, so I don't find the kind of tiny evening style bags women take to weddings very practical. Would consider buying a new bag though - any colour ideas? I have a Coach Chelsea crossbody bag that's about the smallest I can go in bags. Sadly it's in red so is not going to work, but something similar might do.

Also - would jacket / cardigan be best? I want some sort of cover up. Should accessories all be the same colour? There are obviously lots of colours in the dress so hard to know what to go with.

Do people bother with 'hair accessories' nowadays? I doubt if it will be a hat-wearing do.

It's ages since I've been to a wedding, and I feel quite anxious about how I'm going to manage all the health related crap, so would like to feel happy and comfortable in what I'm wearing. It's also the first time in adult life apart from pregnancy that I've put on weight like this and it's dented my confidence. I'm still supposedly okay re BMI but it's a stone and it really has all gone to my tummy so I look bloody awful in most dresses.

Any ideas on any of the above would be brilliant. If the link doesn't work it's the spot print knot waist jersey dress.

something similar to this maybe ( a navy blazer) would smarten it up a bit? www.next.co.uk/gl1132s1#l64591

in terms of hair accessories, i don't tend to bother. i do like wearing earrings though, blue tortoshell hoop ones could work with this

I think this one does call for a (whisper it) fascinator or something. Or what sort of hair do you have? Maybe a casual updo to glam it up a bit?

Lovely lovely dress. Great choice. IMHO.

I think a navy blazer could work well, if I can find the right one. I do have an old Boden one that still looks smart, but doesn't work with the dress - seems to give out workwear rather than wedding vibes. Love the look of blue tortoiseshell - didn't even know it was a thing!

Thanks, Don'tcallmeCharlotte - you could well be right about a fascinator. I've got shoulder length hair with a wave so accessories work pretty well, though I'm crap at putting it up.
