I'm looking for an everyday black shoulder bag which is not too big or small, stylish, practical and a little bit wow and a bit of prestige to it! I've seen this one- is it nice? I can't decide if it's designer enough or if I'd be better of with a more 'designer' brand like Michael Kors, Kat Spade, Marc jacobs or DKNY. Budget is up to £300- is there anything nicer out there for the money?

I can’t help as it is abundantly clear that we do not share taste in bags. Your links have had me recoiling in horror from the screen. You’d probably do the same at my boho type choices. I have a Campomaggi leather tote with cross body strap. It was expensive but the older it gets the better it looks. Maybe take a look...although I assume they won’t be your scene.

Slight overreaction there ... [Grin]

If you can up your budget how about hill & friends or Anya hindmarch?

NigellasGuest · 18/08/2018 12:59

This is nice, for a slouchier bag. Not sure if it has a bit of "wow" though, as per your original request,OP.

Pictish - so you can confirm that Campomaggi do indeed look better with age? Just bought a wonderful tote that I'm almost feeling too precious about to use - even though it was bought to be hauled about!

OP - I'd be looking at Rebecca Minkoff as previously mentioned. Nice leather, some good sale prices last time I looked, just a little blingy. That Kurt Geiger bag is not likely to wear well. A smart sale buy will do you better.

MoltonSilver · 18/08/2018 13:22

Mint velvet leather bags are lovely and soft.

pictish · 18/08/2018 13:29

Honestly my Campomaggi is dreadfully mistreated...it gets stood on, chucked around and unceremoniously hauled about everywhere. It likes the rough treatment. It looks brilliant and it’s about 5 years in. I’ll have it for 20 or more I reckon.

pictish · 18/08/2018 13:59

Cinnamon this is mine. It has aged beautifully and goes with everything I wear.

Cinnamonbunbun · 18/08/2018 14:30

Pictish - I can't see the pic, sadly! :( But reassuring to know that the Campomaggis do indeed age well. As soon as I have lovingly attended to mine with its special care pack, I will have to take it out. It's still at the 'petting' stage right now.

pictish · 18/08/2018 14:50

How about now? It’s showing on my phone but not my tablet for some reason.

Fresta · 18/08/2018 14:54

No Pictish- that’s not my style at all- I can see it’s made of lovely tanned natural leather but I’m looking for something a little more refined for my taste.

I like the Rebecca mink off bags- might have a look at them - maybe a slightly smaller one though .

Yes...it is a ‘rustic’ look I agree.

Butterflycookie · 18/08/2018 15:12

What about Sophie hulme bags? Guess bags are also quite nice but not as designer. I like Radley bags as well.

heattreated · 18/08/2018 15:25

has anyone suggest mansur gravriel?

I havent personally got one but they are higher end, known amongst people who "know" fashion and style. They are minimal, clean styling though, so i don't know if bling enough but they will definitely still look good in 10 years time.

If you want a known a more identifiable brand, i'd go for an MK or Lauren by Ralph Lauren.

heattreated · 18/08/2018 15:42

as for the amanda wakeley one, i quite like the mineral colourway but for a smart/casual out of work look. I unfortunatelydont think it will still look in 7+ years time as its very fashionable and would look lovely with a blazer, a biker and jeans with pointed flats or heels. Its quite detailed and fussy but if you like it, really go for it.

EnidButton · 18/08/2018 16:07

Designer enough for what?

Grace32 · 19/08/2018 07:56

What about Village England or Demellier? Lovely British brands with lots of great timeless shapes.

SleepFreeZone · 19/08/2018 07:58

I like it OP 👌

Fresta · 19/08/2018 09:22

I meant designer enough for the price/worth the money.

Well thanks a lot @butterflycookie. I have literally just had a word with myself with the amount of money I'm spending on things I don't need and you post that Coach bag. And now I NEED that bag ...
