Dyed my hair and hate it!

It’s turned out way more red than I am comfortable with, can I just whack a brown on top?
Help please, how can I quickly fix it?

Photo here. It’s also quite patchy 😑

I would leave a day or two. In the meantime wash your hair with washing up liquid/vosene shampoo to get rid of some of the colour x

ImAGoofyGoober · 16/08/2018 08:26

Do you think a brown on top would ‘fix’ it though?
Will try the fairy liquid.

I know you don't like it but it really suits you! I used to do this colour, if it's long and thick you might need two boxes to make sure you're not missing bits (same goes if you're going to dye it back to brown.)

Eminybob · 16/08/2018 08:33

I actually really like it. What colour and brand is it?

Rollerbird · 16/08/2018 08:35

It looks great (not what you wanted to hear)

ImTakingTheEssence · 16/08/2018 08:37

Colour b4 its about £5 from b&m strips the colour off depending what colour hair you had before the dye. Then new dye on stripped hair. Ive had to do it recently to get pink out of my hair.

Standinguptononsense · 16/08/2018 08:39

I think it looks amazing. Brings out the blue in your eyes xx

fortyandfrumpy · 16/08/2018 08:41

If you put a Brown over the top it's likely to go really dark. Try washing it a few times to get the excess colour out of it. The colour remover is a good idea as it will strip the colour out and then you can dye over the top.

Branleuse · 16/08/2018 08:43

I like it. Can you give it a few days

buttybuttybutthole · 16/08/2018 08:44

I like it!

Rarfy · 16/08/2018 08:47

It looks nice but dont worry. Red fades exceptionally fast. Use head and shoulders or johnsons baby shampoo. Ive used washing powder mixed with head and shoulders to help fade before and seen vitamin c tablets on here.

A brown wont really cover it. Even though it fades quick its hard to cover. Fade it first before doing anything else.

flapjackfairy · 16/08/2018 08:47

Oh I love it as well. Give it a few days to see if you get used to it is my suggestion.

Namethecat · 16/08/2018 08:48

Red fades out pretty quick. There is also a shampoo that will speed it up ( might be Vosene or Head & Shoulders) but like a few other posters - it suits you.

mistermagpie · 16/08/2018 08:55

It's nice but I've been there, don't stick a dark brown over the top or you'll have black hair that will cost a fortune to fix (been there). I would use a semi permanent light or medium brown but try for a 'cool' tone, ash brown rather than golden brown to offset the red. Stay away from 'chocolate' brown because it will be quite red too.

guiltynetter · 16/08/2018 08:58

it looks lovely! and as others have said, it’ll fade within a few weeks.

elf1985 · 16/08/2018 09:03

Colourb4 is awful in red. I know from experience. It will calm down.

ImAGoofyGoober · 16/08/2018 09:08

Well I feel a bit more reassured now, thank you Smile I think I got a bit too much in my own head panicking about it! It looks rubbish down but I think that’s because it’s patchy and desperate for a good cut.

I’ll rock the messy bun while I’m at work the weekend and then try a cooler tone on it.

Thanks for the tips!

No tips I'm afraid, just wanted to say I really like it!

oohyoudevilyou · 16/08/2018 09:12

Agree with others who said it'll fade quickly. Sunshine and H&S shampoo will accelerate the fading. It does suit you though, and one person's "patchy" is another's "multi tonal" Grin

IJustLostTheGame · 16/08/2018 09:52

I like it.
Sorry!
It will fade in a week, just wash it every day

RoseWhiteTips · 16/08/2018 11:35

I like it too.

🙂

sparklepops123 · 16/08/2018 12:05

Yep I like it too 😀

youvegottobekidding · 16/08/2018 12:11

The colour does look nice, however of you're still wanting to remove the colour you could try the Vitamin C & Shampoo method, just google it, all you need it some of those Vitamin C effervescent tablets & a clarifying shampoo, head & shoulders or vosene works best.

TomHardysNextWife · 16/08/2018 12:12

I was also going to suggest Vosene.
