When you were early twenties did you know icons who had influenced fashion?

I’m having a mare trying to create this 80’s Madonna look for tomorrow. I’m in Oxford St and the youngsters look so fashionable and cool but, do they know who Madonna is never mind what we wore in the 80’s? No. I’m surely the fashion capital of the world. It was the same in Mac of all places. I asked if they could help me put an 80’s look together and I got passed around three people and ended up nearly crying. So, when these guys study fashion/art does history not come into it? Don’t they know that fashion is all influenced by what went on before? When I was 18 we were in the second hand shops every week customising our outfits for that night.

I’m really anxious now I’m a size 14 and can’t find a fish net tshirt anywhere!!

Yes a men's black vest would do. Or a black lace underwear top.

You could make your own from an oversized tshirt. Cut a scoop neck, big armholes and crop it to whatever length you feel comfortable with. Tshirt material won't fray and fall apart for one night.

Im a 36h im getting stressed can you imagine all the drag queens that have got Madonna down to a T? Its going to be fierce ill look like a ragamuffin. I have everything except the top half

You're stressing too much for something that should be a good night out! Wear a vest with a visible bra. The hair and jewellery will be more noticed.

Do you have a bustier? go to an underwear shop, Rigby and Pellers! next to Harrods. Ask for black lace or champagne coloured satin with cones! They will remember who Madonna is! And the drag queens won't have authentic boobies!

lookinghere I see a lot of bra tops and bustiers and corsets. I think the baggy tops were more bananarama. Madonna was form fitting, tight and flaunting what she'd got!

For me, this is the 80s Madonna look. The cones were later I think when the designers wanted to dress her.

Get a mans tshirt a couple of sizes to big, cut the arms off and chop it to sit at midriff (or top of skirt/jeans, if like me you hate showing flesh), crap tonne a mousse in hair for BIG hair, badly applied blusher, bright lippy, 20 million bangles on each arm, bandana in your hair and dont forget the beauty spot!!

I know. It’s quite hard finding proper neon. I was hoping for nail varnish but have looked all over
