Mascara Holy Grail?

I'm trying to find a mascara that lengthens, thickens, doesn't clump or flake or leave me looking like Alice Cooper by the end of the day

Currently using Bobbi Brown Smudge Free. Which doesn't smidge but doesn't really give a massive amount of oomph to my eyelashes. I've spent a fortune over the years trying to find a perfect mascara.

Does one exist? Don't mind how much it costs if it's good.

Anna Sui Curl & Volume is my go to - it smells amazing and it's completely waterproof - I can't bear the thought of trying anything else now - highly recommend Star

I won't pay megabucks for a brand name if I can get a High street mascara that does the job or is even better. I love Wilko's Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect mascara (the green one) .It's about £3 and gives amazing length and volume to my lashes. You have to build up the layers slowly as it can be a bit tricky to get the hang of at first .Some people like it, some don't. I have been asked if I have false lashes and my eyelashes are nothing to write home about.I also bought the Essence Waterproof" I love extreme" volume mascara in the purple tube. That's good too. Worth a go and you haven't wasted a load of money !

Rimmel wonderfull. Best ever.

I get oily eye lids Grin even though none of the rest of my skin is oily. I uses benefit mascara in the silver tube they're real I think. It's great. Stays put and good volume. Although it's not cheap it lasts well.

Annoyingly there doesn’t seem to be a majority winner!

HabbyHadno · 13/08/2018 22:13

Benefit's Bad Gal Bang all the way. I've tried SO many and this one is amazing.

MyYoniFromHull · 14/08/2018 04:58

Bad Gal Bang was excellent this week. Minimal panda eyes next morning and lovely wand, really good big black lashes. Still not opened the Lancome grandiose.

I have ordered the Collection one after reading this thread, thank you. Tbh, I think that most mascaras are pretty good when they are fresh. They only become disappointing after a month or so.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/08/2018 08:19

You make an ace point @bitoffun

I think I have unrealistic expectations of my mascaras at times; no mascara is as good at week 6 as it is fresh open.

Stupid side question; how long is your average tube of mascara supposed to last if you apply it every day once or twice?

DorisDays · 14/08/2018 08:25

The best I've ever had and always come back to us Lancôme Hypnose

mommybunny · 14/08/2018 08:27

Is Collection available at Boots?

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 08:28

Lancôme Hypnose, it’s expensive but wow!

I use it between eyelash extensions and it gives the same effect!

Another vote for the Japanese KissMe Heroine Make mascara, I have the ‘length and curl’ and the ‘volume and curl’ and they’re amazing. Waterproof like you’ve never seen before, you have to paint on a special remover to get it off. Lasts all day and night no problem. I don’t think I’d buy any others now.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 14/08/2018 08:36

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I think lots of mascara’s get better over the weeks, they’re often too wet to start with

Alicatz66 · 14/08/2018 08:40

Not mascara but I'd agree the L'Oreal Paradise primer is really good and half the price of the Lancôme one I was using ... I'm still searching for the perfect mascara too .. currently have Benefit Bad Gal Bang and Too Faced Better than sex !!! .. ok , but I'm not sure worth the price ..

NashvilleQueen · 14/08/2018 08:40

I think it all depends on what your own lashes look like. Mine are quite short and have no natural curl. So I need something that will turn them upwards a bit and keep them there. A lot depends on the wand rather than the product I think.

My own personal favourite is benefit roller lash which seems to lengthen and curl and doesn’t clump. It lasts a long time too.

BabyPigeon83 · 14/08/2018 13:12

Lash power mascara from Clinique is the only one I found that lasts through rain, tears, eye rubbing. It comes off with warm water in the shower, so no panda eyes. It's not a holy grail , because it separates and adds length but it does not add much volume. It's perfect for me for daytime/work.
For a more spectacular result I found In extreme dimension from MAC works ok as long as I do t cry or rub.my eyes...
There is a mini version of this available:
m.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13827/56446/products/skincare/travel-size/in-extreme-dimension-lash-mascara-little-mac

I think mascara should not be scented, it's too close to the eyes and it might cause irritation.
