Mascara Holy Grail?

I'm trying to find a mascara that lengthens, thickens, doesn't clump or flake or leave me looking like Alice Cooper by the end of the day

Currently using Bobbi Brown Smudge Free. Which doesn't smidge but doesn't really give a massive amount of oomph to my eyelashes. I've spent a fortune over the years trying to find a perfect mascara.

Does one exist? Don't mind how much it costs if it's good.

My DM swears by the Estee Lauder double wear.

I LOVE the Clinique High Impact mascara
Lovely fluffy brush so no clumps. Lengthens and thickens really well. I've been using it for years!

Kilpitlees · 07/08/2018 08:41

YSL volume effect false cils (false lash effect). I have used this mascara for years and it gives fabulous lashes. It is expensive, I have tried other brands when trying to cut costs, but they in no way compare.

Love They’re Real, although it dries out quickly but then I don’t wear mascara every day so don’t really get my moneys worth out of it.
Bad Girl Bang is the best- it’s my ‘going on a night out’ one every time.

Have Max Factor False Lash if I put any on for work but I got that free.

Also bought a Rimmel one which I hate, takes forever to dry so just smudges all over my face.

I've spent a fortune hunting for the perfect mascara and tried almost every one mentioned already! My best one has been Soap and Glory!! And it's only £10!. ... but I once bought one from Aldi that was amazing for £2.99 ! Sadly I've yet to find it again except on eBay for £30 ! I'm sticking with my S&G now

Blatant placemats

2ManySweets · 07/08/2018 23:01

Or placemark even Grin

Hatemyjob2 · 07/08/2018 23:02

Love Eyeko Black magic and Benefit They’re Real. No smudging or flaking from either.

ThenCameTheFools · 07/08/2018 23:05

Dior Pump and Volume. Never believed anything could give me proper lashes. Have tried Benefit, Hypnose, the lot. Am on my 3rd Pump and Volume and won't change ever again.

ThriceThriceThice · 07/08/2018 23:06

Another vote for Lancôme - all of their mascaras are brilliant. I have tried other ones (Benefit, YSL etc.) but always come back to Lancôme - theyare the best.

I have long, curly but very fair eye lashes and love Dolls Eyes for the day. If you want a more mega impact, evening style - try one of the Hyponose range.

itsgood2talk · 07/08/2018 23:15

Christian Dior blackout is my favourite. Quite expensive but definitely worth the money and lasts ages!

JeSuisPrest · 07/08/2018 23:19

Gave Aldi 3D Effect a go after flinging it in my basket as an impulse buy

  • usually use Eyeko or EL DW. Won't use anything else now. I always stock up when they have it in. It's ridiculously over packaged though.
plusonefail · 07/08/2018 23:45

Collection Lash Surge - really really cheap and honestly the bet I’ve ever used - way better than some very expensive brands.

Don’t bother with Rimmel mascara though - by far the worst ever. I’ve tried 3 different types and they were all clumpy, difficult to use and didn’t dry.

Onynx · 08/08/2018 08:28

Lancôme Hypnose Volume or Hypnose Drama. I bought Dior Pump n Volume after hearing amazing reviews- it does give stunning lashes but I have quite hooded eyes and it tends to transfer on me unfortunately.

HRTpatch · 08/08/2018 08:29

Kevyn Aucoin tube mascara. Amazing. Doesn't shift

N0tfinished · 08/08/2018 09:00

Lancôme Volume a Porter 4 eva. Nothing does the same - lifts curls lengthens and great dense black. I can't cope with a huge bristley brush, this one has a small dense plastic bristle brush. I found others that are cheaper & ok but nothing beats this one

Elledorado · 08/08/2018 09:13

It's funny I have tried the vast majority on here and don't rate them. I read an article once that most mascaras have a similar formula but this is obviously bullshit!

creamcheeseandlox · 09/08/2018 07:22

Maybelline lash sensational only mascara I've ever re bought

QueenoftheNights · 09/08/2018 07:38

Lancome Hypnose- it doesn't make lashed hard and spiky. I got a sample of Lancome Drama and that was even better but they are around £25 and only last me 3 months.

I've tried some Bourjois- terrible waste- and Maybelline, and L'Oreal and all disappointed. I'd love to find one for under £15 as I use masses.

YessicaHaircut · 09/08/2018 08:03

Another recommendation for Collection Lash Surge, I’ve tried loads of expensive mascaras and honestly this one does a great job! Really good volume and definition without being clumpy, stays put but easy to remove. I’m very careful to bin mascara after 6 months so never liked paying high end prices - CLS is around a fiver.

QueenOfIce · 09/08/2018 17:05

Clinique power lash, tubing mascara so I'm not left with panda eyes at the end of the day and it gives mine a good length no clumping.

PickleSarnie · 12/08/2018 13:50

Thanks all.

I bought the travel sized version of Hourglass Caution. And so far it seems really good. Gives a decent curl and I don't end up like a panda. Although it's forecast to rain for the next week so time will tell if that stays true.

Estée Lauder ones are always good, don't rate the rest of their make up but the mascaras are fab.

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/08/2018 21:51

What works really well for me is Mavala waterproof. It has a curved brush which I like, and I use a very dark blue (bleu nuit) which I find is a little bit softer than black (am older). Being waterproof, it also survives me (inevitably) rubbing my eyes through the day.
I'm not sure of its availability in the UK, though. There seem to be about a million online sellers, though.

RebeccaCloud9 · 12/08/2018 21:55

I've got the loreal paradise waterproof and it is AWFUL! So so clumpy - unusably so - from the very first use.

YouBetterWORK · 12/08/2018 22:03

Big fan of YSL Babydoll, after no7, maybelline, rimmel etc got a trial size of this with a touche eclat and never looked back! The only one that omphs up my lashes without sticking them all together!
