Glad you are getting a break, especially after being so poorly.
Dunno really, I find it hard to get jeans that fit properly I’m such an odd shape, usually buy them from topshop but have found the quality isn’t as good as it was, I think I will order them later they are a good price & im sending the caro top back, so haven’t spent too much lately.

SoyYo · 02/08/2018 18:54

Yes you need to be 100% happy otherwise they’ll just sit there reminding you of the waste of cash (regardless of how bargainous they were to start with)
Funny I’m exactly the “right” shape for skinnies with slim hips/legs and I also really rate Zara biker style skinny jeans (their black version looks sooo cool, I’ll have a look to see if they still stock and if yes I’ll link later)
If ONLY my top half matched my bottom half I’d be sylph like...but NO my top half is hefty and keeping it under control is an ongoing battle against the bulge, if it wasn’t for my boobs I reckon I could pass for a bloke with a beer belly sometimes 🤣

SoyYo · 02/08/2018 19:05

Nope they don’t do them anymore 😢 and they were only like £25 (I have a new black pair I bagged in Spain stashed away for A/W plus the older pair I wear regularly but now a bit tired/faded)
Mint Velvet do a very similar one but really not good enough at full price:

Ellapaella · 02/08/2018 19:06

Unfortunately my lack of boobs means that my tummy sticks out further than my chest in some outfits, never a good look! Grin hopefully a decent bra will go some way to helping with that.
I suppose I could do something about it if I was inclined to keep up with Pilates or do specific stomach exercises in the gym but I'm afraid I'm a bit gym averse.
I run and I walk the dog everyday, I enjoy it but am not a gym bunny and doubt I ever will be.
I live in skinny jeans but I am still searching for the holy grail - basically skinny but not skin tight. Slim leg don't work because they are too baggy at the ankle and it doesn't look right.
Sigh....
I'll spend another winter no doubt hunting down these elusive jeans. If anyone has suggestions please let me know.

Actually SoYo those MV ones look promising but the model probably has pin stick legs which is why they don't look skin tight.

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 02/08/2018 19:09

And I am very much between sizes with MV, 12 too big and 10 too small. I wish they did a size 11.

SoyYo · 02/08/2018 19:14

Yes Ella it’s an ongoing battle. I find my twice weekly Pilates classes really helped, but with the work travel, then virus/infection, then injured ankle I’ve fallen off the bandwagon really badly the last 5/6 weeks, I’m going to have to motivate myself and start hitting the mat for some floor abdominals or I’ll soon be a pot bellied holiday maker (😱I have THAT bikini to wear end of August)
If you spot the Zara skinnies in that MVelvet style in store do give them a go, they’re my favourite skinnies ever...maybe keep an eye on MV for future reductions.
I’ll let you know if I spot other likely candidates...

dontcallmelen · 02/08/2018 19:15

@Ella &SoyYo it’s so frustrating, it is indeed like searching for the holy grail, my problem is I have no bum or hips & twiggy legs so even though skinny’s fit, I always feel like Olive Oyl I sooo want a pair of slim fit but not baggy at the ankle, I haven’t tried mint velvet might be worth a go.

dontcallmelen · 02/08/2018 19:18

Ooh they do a short length as well, along with all woes listed above am also 4ft10”😳

Laska5772 · 02/08/2018 19:21

Soy the last time I was 10st (5yrs ago -i know because it was when DGs was tiny) My DH bought me some of those Mint Velvet jeans in charcoal for Christmas ..and they are still in the bottom of my wardrobe (and yes, right at the bottom of the jeans pile) .. One day ...Wink. Quite a bit to go yet though , they are very skinny..

Ive sorted out my desk soy and guess what I found! An unopened jiffy bag containing .... Santana - Supernatural/ Shaman.. ! So i did buy it ! (probably didn't open it because there was no point) .. Now if only we had something to play it on .like a music centre? Hmm. ( but there is the car .. )

Talisin · 02/08/2018 19:22

I actually have those Phoenix jeans in a 12 from a couple of years back, Ella. Unless the sizing has changed significantly then there’s no way you’d be more than a 10 in them. I do find them slightly short in the regular length at 5’8 though (they didn’t have the long option when I got them).

Laska5772 · 02/08/2018 19:23

The MV jeans did fit me ( for a few months anyway ) ..

SoyYo · 02/08/2018 19:27

That’s funny laska both on Mint Velvet biker skinnies AND Santana Cd.
I think you should play it on your laptop CD player and do a bit of Zumba to it (it’ll cheer you up no end and I’d join you remotely if it wasn’t for my busted ankle) it all helps towards a sylph like skinny figure Wink seriously I’ve noticed wobbly tummy since I’ve stopped my regular Pilates so must DO something till I can rejoin...and it’s not weight as I have lost a few pounds with recent virus, it’s just “loose muscle” 🤣

SoyYo · 02/08/2018 19:31

melen you’re beautifully petite, I’m sure you’ll like the Hollies but if you do try go for the size 6, they’ve a lot of Lycra in them so should stick to your slim legs.
MV are fabulous too, I wish they were half price though and if you do pop into a Zara have a try there too as they do different lengths and tiny sizes

Ellapaella · 02/08/2018 19:31

That's worth knowing @Talisin thanks. I wonder if the soloution to slightly looser fit on legs might be buying them in a longer length so they ruffle up a bit and don't look so skin tight.

Favourite tracks in double cd: primavera, corazón espinado, smooth, game of love, why don’t you and I...it’s all fabulous though!

Nearlyadoctor · 02/08/2018 19:55

Just tried on arnies and jumper, love them both but need an opinion on xs or small jumper. Dd and I are thinking the small but DH thinks xs. Opinions please. 1st pic is xs

PrimalLass · 02/08/2018 19:57

I have two pairs of the MV Phoenix jeans. They are flattering but I'm not feeling like skinnies just now.

I did two Hush orders today. I annoy myself.

dontcallmelen · 02/08/2018 20:05

@SoyYo you are very kind, yes I will order the six then if not I have a zara not that far away, agree the MV ones are a bit expensive.
@Nearly I think they both look good, not to big or to small ifykwim maybe keep what feels most comfortable, how do you find MV Jean sizing?

dontcallmelen · 02/08/2018 20:06

Oops sorry that last bit was for Primal

SoyYo · 02/08/2018 20:07

nearly you look great!!! Love it on you.
Personally I’d go for the S, your DH likes XS because it shows off your figure and tiny waist better than the S...but what if after washing in goats milk (or similar) they end up shrinking just a tiny bit? That would make the XS too tight whereas the S could happily take it.
But the XS has a more “sexy” less “slouchy” look on the pics...
Does this help?

Laska5772 · 02/08/2018 20:07

This is It soy , they are all on there .. Ive got to go wash up ( no fancy dishwashers here ) ! ill put it on..

Nearlyadoctor · 02/08/2018 20:08

I actually do have 2 pairs of MV jeans melon . I’d say pretty true to size but leaning towards the smaller end of sizing. I’m an 8-10 and both MV jeans are 10.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/08/2018 20:10

Not sure which one is which but I prefer the shape of the jumper in picture 2.
