These are my wants:
sinks in fast and no greasy film for ages
hardly any smell
deeply moisturises so nothing too watery (I'm old!)
under a fiver-ish (I get special stuff for birthdays etc.)

I have just bought Aveeno with almond oil. I know Aveeno gets a good review on MN but in all honesty is smells weird- like porridge (oats.)

I used Neutrogena for years and like it except it doesn't sink in- leaves a greasy film, tacky on the skin.

I've just bought Palmers shea butter one and it stinks- far too perfumed. (I don't like their cocoa butter for the same reason.)

Aveeno smells like porridge because it's got oats in it-highly colloidal.
Was going to say neutrogena, the intense one for very dry skin.
Garnier-the one that is in the pale green bottle.
Super drug vitamin e range.

PickledHoneybuzzard · 23/07/2018 09:44

Hi Reading have you tried the Palmers invented version? Not completely scent free but a lot less scented than their others.
I'm using a new Neutrogena lotion atm, Hydroboost Gel, absolutely love it. Very moisturizing and non sticky, not particularly scented, the gel consistency is great in this hot weather. Not sure that it meets your price requirement though.

PickledHoneybuzzard · 23/07/2018 09:46

😂😂🤣🤣 invented version?? No, it's real. That should have said 'unscented'

ReadingRoom · 23/07/2018 10:07

Aveeno smells like porridge because it's got oats in it-highly colloidal.
Yep I know that :) I think the smell is too horrible though.

There are loads of Aveeno ones- do any smell any different?

Happy to pay more Pickled just not £30. (My friends buy me those!)
I love Ren rose one but not paying £28 to slap on twice a day.

Will look at the others too thanks.

Just use natural coconut oil. Sparingly.

ChishandFips33 · 23/07/2018 11:20

I buy aveeno lotion - smell is noticeable when applying but soon goes

It's not my favourite smell but I find it's an amazing moisturiser so I compromise

Bought 3 tubes (300ml?) for £8

Nivea?
Is Vaseline intensive care still around?
Dove?

goose1964 · 23/07/2018 12:20

If you have really dry skin Cetaphil . I get dry patches on my shins and it's a miracle worker

holycityzoo · 24/07/2018 09:53

Aldi body moisturiser in the blue bottle. It looks like fake Nivea. It's bloomin brilliant.

pitttapatter · 24/07/2018 09:56

Aldi one is amazing and costs just 99p for a big bottle.

MissVanjie · 24/07/2018 09:57

Another vote for superdrug vit e

dontgobaconmyheart · 24/07/2018 10:57

I don't think it will be necessarily right for you OP as it does have a cocoa butter smell (which does fade to be fair) but as someone who can't even shower without moisturizing straight after due to dry skin, my surprising all time favourite is the Tesco own brand cocoa butter smoothing body lotion. Cheap as chips at a quid for 400ml! Sinks in, isn't greasy, you don't need loads. It's way less thick and fragrance than the palmers, which I find too much.
I've been using it for a decade and always go back to it. They do a couple of other versions, aloe Vera and I think vitamin e? The aloe isn't bad. Maybe worth a go just because it's SO cheap.

SendYouUpInFlames · 24/07/2018 10:58

Aveno lotion is made with oats. That's probably why. I'm sure they're all made with oats.

mintmagnummm · 24/07/2018 11:05

I was just coming on to say palmers fragrance free Smile

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/07/2018 11:08

Aveeno lavendar is good, and doesn't smell like oatmeal (or lavendar actually).

The Superdrug Vitamin E one is good, but smells quite strong (not unpleasant) and takes longer to sink in than Aveeno.

WellTidy · 24/07/2018 11:13

The Garnier Intensive 7 Days Shea Butter Body Lotion for Dry Skin recommended early on in the thread is fab. I have very dry skin and like aveeno very much, but I know what you're saying about the smell. I put up with it, but I understand you wanting something else. The Garnier one is half price in Boots at the moment - £2.60 odd for 400ml. It is in a green bottle.

MinesaPinot · 24/07/2018 13:48

This one - used it for years. Light and sinks in easily which is great as I don't have a lot of time in the morning and need to be able to put it on and dress quickly.

Another vote for the Garnier one in the green bottle. It ticks all the boxes

WellTidy · 24/07/2018 15:05

The Garnier one in the green bottle that Minesa linked to above is the one for normal skin. There is another green bottle one for dry skin and yet another for very dry skin. It is the very dry skin one that I buy. It has shea butter in it. Not at all greasy, nice smell, very cheap and effective. £2.62 for 400ml in Boots atm.

MissMarplesKnitting · 24/07/2018 15:08

Body shop body yoghurt is my favourite at the moment. It's like a gel texture and just disappears into the skin quickly and my skin feels lovely.

I got mine cheaper as a friend sells it and it was on offer.

MissMarplesKnitting · 24/07/2018 15:09

The body shop do rose scented body yoghurt too.

Or try the Nivea one with rose. Saw it in Wilko recently

Nestinghedgehog · 24/07/2018 15:15

Make sure it is the skin therapy one not the ordinary one - that one never sinks in

bingohandjob · 24/07/2018 21:21

Soaper Duper range is lovely (I love the ginger one) and on offer in Tesco at the moment www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=soaper-duper

SassitudeandSparkle · 24/07/2018 21:26

Have you tried Nivea Soft, the one in the white tub? Not too heavy a scent (quite fresh) and quite moisturising.
