Style wobble - what do you think of these poor sandals?

Came home delighted with these, but DH took one look and said 'clump frump'.
He has shaken my style confidence. What are we thinking?

Style wobble - what do you think of these poor sandals?

They’re not my style so I wouldn’t wear them. I wouldn’t give 2 hoots what my dp thought though. And I have some weird taste.

HundredMilesAnHour · 21/07/2018 09:38

Must admit that I agree with your DH.

MrsMozart · 21/07/2018 09:40

I actually like them... Though 'stylish' isn't the word normally applied to me...

hauntedsemi · 21/07/2018 09:41

Mrs Mozart:-)

Glitter and Hundred - can you educate me?
I am (frankly) brilliant at choosing clothes, don't care what anyone thinks
But shoes - I am blind

I’m with your DH here. My thoughts:

  • colour dreary
  • instep cut far too high leading to a clumpy look and that’s before we get to the wedge
  • undefinable something that makes them the summer equivalent of a mum boot
  • would be worn by a lady of a certain age matched with cropped white jeans and a floaty “tum skimming” top, the uniform of the middle aged on holiday (disclaimer: I am fat and middle aged)

Alternatives: lower instep, flat or flat-form, no strap at the back, tan not brown

sagasleathertrousers · 21/07/2018 09:52

I like them

hauntedsemi · 21/07/2018 09:58

Gosh. A whole universe opens up.
I think I will go back to my white lacoste trainers
(those probably don't fit the criteria, either)

TeeBee · 21/07/2018 09:59

He's right.

TigerDroveAgain · 21/07/2018 10:05

White Lacoste trainers sound lovely!

PurpleDaisies · 21/07/2018 10:05

I don’t like them at all.

LiveatCityHall · 21/07/2018 10:05

They're not to my taste but then if you like them you shouldn't worry about what other people think. I wear irregular choice shoes and my DH HATES them but he'd never tell me I couldn't have any!!

ScreamingValenta · 21/07/2018 10:07

I really like them. They also look unlikely to hurt your feet. I find sandals with that crossover design elongate the appearance of your legs.

sunshinesupermum · 21/07/2018 10:07

Look fine to me (and comfy in this hot weather) Pah to DH!

ScreamingValenta · 21/07/2018 10:09

I'd wear them with one of my boho style summer dresses.

CoconutAmericano · 21/07/2018 10:17

I’m with your husband I’m afraid. They’re blah

RaininSummer · 21/07/2018 10:41

I like them. Not my colour but they look good and prob comfy. I am a bit old though.

teta · 21/07/2018 10:57

I like them too
I’ve seen a lot worse on Mn.
Just ignore everyone else and wear them with pride.

paceyswife · 21/07/2018 11:47

If you like them wear them but IMO they verge on frumpy. I think it's the cork base I'm not keen on

itwasallveryfuckedup · 21/07/2018 14:10

I like them. Wear them with a maxi dress.

starryoctopus · 21/07/2018 14:12

oh dear no. and also.no to the other suggestion too. clumpy frumpy and just hoofy

dontcallmelen · 21/07/2018 14:42

They are not horrible, just a bit meh think they would look better if they were a proper wedge shape.

ThomasinaMouse · 21/07/2018 15:45

I like them. I think they'd look good with a dress or skirt and make your legs look good. I'm 36.

Ionlylookatthepictures · 21/07/2018 15:47

Hmm sorry op, I’m with your dh here Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 21/07/2018 16:03

I really like them but I fear the damage to your love of them has already been done.
