I know this has been done before, but I want to sort my bikini-line out, but think the pain of waxing could be unbearable. Is it really bad, what tips do you do to reduce pain, and what are the alternative??? TiA xx

would you like to borrow my dp's beard trimmer?

jenwa · 28/05/2007 22:52

pelvicfloornomore - lol i use my dhs, it is fab for keeping rest of neat and tidy

PippiLangstrump · 28/05/2007 22:56

jenwa years ago i tried doing it myself. well shall I say that because I was scared I pulled but not hard enough and I was left with half strip attached and a massive blue mark. never ever will be brave and rutless enough to do it myself .

Smurfgirl · 28/05/2007 23:04

I don't think it hurts that much tbh, its over very quickly as well, def worth doing. I have never waxed my legs though so can't compare the pain.

jenwa · 28/05/2007 23:05

PippiLangstrump - oooohhhh, ouch! Yeh think it can put you off doing it! I trained in it so felt bit more confident but still hurts a bit as easier when someone else does it! I did dh chest and he was red raw afterwards and I drew blood! I admit I never did it on him very well and had never done a chest wax!

PippiLangstrump · 28/05/2007 23:08

uuuuhh that's almost as gory! has he allowed you to do it again? or did you do it on purpose as an act of revenge for all his shortcomings? (I have poisined mine once with a cream pasta souce! )

PippiLangstrump · 28/05/2007 23:09

poisoned, and sauce, even

jenwa · 29/05/2007 08:19

Sorry about the hijack but are there salons that use hot wax, the one that's reused, just filtered to remove the hairs? I had the feeling that because it doesn't sound so hygienic it wasn't done anymore.

It's much less painful and efficient but maybe not so safe considering some people bleed?

themoon66 · 29/05/2007 11:43

I tried the wax strips at home and will never do it again..... I was bleeding and sore for days afterwards.

Jazzicatz · 29/05/2007 13:01

Well ladies, I am even more put off, think I might go for the hair clippers, we have some we use on the dog, will try those!!!

oh dear, I would just snip off the extraneous hairs (if they bother you - just do a short back and sides so to speak) and tuck the rest into the costume.

Anything else is bound to cause Pain and/or Irritation and horrendous Regrowth .

Go au naturel!

Jazzicatz · 29/05/2007 13:08

Lol foxinsocks at 'tuck it into your costume'!!!

Don't use an epilator. Trust me. I did years and years ago and I have never known pain like it. I screamed. I can still remember the hair ripping pain.

A friend of mine swears by applying teething gel or any other product with similar effects. She is a beautician and even uses it on her eye brows before plucking.

themoon66 · 29/05/2007 13:14

Am liking the teething gel idea. Sounds perfect.

jenwa · 29/05/2007 13:36

just dont get DH to go near that area once teething gel applied, things may go a little numb!

This brings back hysterical memories of the thread a few weeks ago about people who let their partners trim down below for them.

jenwa · 30/05/2007 15:38

Jazzicatz · 31/05/2007 17:03

Chipstick how else do you do it, my dp has been shaving mine for years, but feel we should put a bit more mystery into our relationship and want to get it done properly!!
