Looking for inspiration on summer nail polishes.
What have been your favourite purchases for nail polish this season?
With links, if possible.
I like some of the minty colours that are around, I have Essie bon boy-age and it's gorgeous.

I'm a sucker for coral - for me it's the perfect summer colour so I'm pretty unimaginative. This summer I'm loving Essie Too Too Hot, which is classic red coral and seems to last really well. Going to swap to Essie Peach Daiquiri later today

BlameItOnTheNeon · 14/07/2018 13:53

Revlon's cherries in the snow is one of my summer favourites, I have the matching lipstick too, gorgeous deep red/pink colour. Revlon's hypnotic is also stunning.

Essie hang up the heels (very dark, almost black, forest green) I love, particularly for summer evenings out, it looks great with gold shoes and a tan.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 14/07/2018 14:01

Essie's tour de finance is also gorgeous for summer, deep hot pink with a blue/purple shimmer in some lights.

rightknockered · 14/07/2018 14:57

I like neon brights. My favourite this summer is YSL rouge our no1 Pop Art. Gorgeously bright

legolimb · 14/07/2018 15:16

Is turquoise/aqua still current for toenails?

BlameItOnTheNeon · 14/07/2018 15:50

I don't know Lego but I love it so I still do. I tend to with what I like rather than what's in fashion though for polish :)

EnidButton · 14/07/2018 16:03

Really like Essie Watermelon. Someone on another thread had it so I bought it last week and glad I did. It's a bright coral pinky red but not too bright. I have pale neutral to cool toned skin and it really suits me. Feels like a summer classic.

(Not my nails in pic. It's from Pinterest.)

Also just bought exotic liras which is less bright and no hint of coral but is quite similar.

Can I jump in and ask a question.

My colours for holiday this year are navy, beige/white, orange and mint green.

What colour nail varnish would you wear?

BlameItOnTheNeon · 14/07/2018 16:16

MrsPear I'd go for a pale metallic gold I think, something like Essie's Good As Gold.

I don't usually suit gold, and usually wear silver jewellery, but this looks great (I think!) and is a great goes with everything shade. It looks very pretty and quite neutral during the day, but very elegant for nights out. IMHO anyway Grin

MrsPear · 14/07/2018 16:18

Thanks I’ll have a look

EnidButton · 18/07/2018 17:13

Sneaky bump in case anyone else has a go to Summer nail colour or has found some new ones.

I'm getting bored of the Watermelon now and thinking about the next colour.

ChishandFips33 · 18/07/2018 17:43

I'm using Rimmel's 60 second super shine ones as I'm just entering the world of doing my nails and they are super cheap!

Glaston-berry is a lovely bright orangey red

Rapid ruby is a much deeper/berry red

Black cherries is a black/purple - love this!

Danny boy Blue - kind of royal blue

Also a sucker for corals so have oragina

Very impressed with their staying power - thought it would be much higher maintenance but only changing them every 4 days unless swapping out the colour

Barry M Molten Metals in Holographic Sunburst for me.

BusterGonad · 18/07/2018 18:28

I'm loving the Barry M.

HappyEverIftar · 18/07/2018 18:31

I've just ordered this from Essie Mirage Collection 01 it looks like a corally iridescent pink. Can't wait to try it!

SophieLion · 18/07/2018 18:47

Bored of watermelon already Enid SmileWink

I also like Essie Cute as a Button and Tart Deco (and another couple which are very similar - Shop Til You Drop?! Not sure I remember name).

Anyway these are both light corals and probably look best if you have a bit of a tan or naturally darker skinned.

Also like putting on an opaque white/pale pink. Can't remember name though. It's from the new twisty bottle range

As an all year round, I also like Essie Bahama Mama. I guess it depends how summery you want to be. I sometimes like wearing dark colours in the summer too. I personally don't like wearing blues or greens.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 18/07/2018 19:42

I like Essie but find that the stand in my local Boots has axweird artificial light which makes the bottles look totally different to how the polish looks in daylight. You can't really take them to the window either as it's a narrow old building and they are tiny and filled with displays. Some of these are tempting me though!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/07/2018 19:49

Oh, I might buy some nail polish (I don't wear it on my fingers but I have very respectable feet )

I love Barry M but I find the colours don't last.
Might wander along to M&S and prod about there.
No neons or brights for me, maybe a pinky beigey nude.

polyhymnia · 18/07/2018 19:54

Still sticking with aqua on my toenails because I really like it. Not a lover of red, coral, neon or other bright pinks!
I usually stick with v natural on fingers - e.g. Essie Ballet Slippers -occasionally with a bit of grey ( e.g. Essie Chinchilly) in winter.
But having seen the lovely mint green in the OP very tempted to treat myself to that!

Racecardriver · 18/07/2018 19:57

I really like the beauty pie nail polishes. Elegant selection, very cheap and last very long (can usually go a full week woyhout retouching/new manicure).

Ohlellykelly · 18/07/2018 20:09

I love Rimmel 60 second too. My fave is caramel cupcake, a lovely beige which goes well with a light tan. I also wear a coral colour in this range but I don't remember the name sorry.

Talisin · 18/07/2018 20:17

Nails Inc Self Made Mermaid duo is my absolute favourite this year. The paler, pearly one is pretty but the green with metallic gold shimmer is just gorgeous - and it lasts.

EnidButton · 18/07/2018 21:27

Who you can have a look online to get more of an idea about colours. Google image search, or look on Pinterest at a few pics to rule out filters and oddly lit ones. I've picked a few like that.

EnidButton · 18/07/2018 21:32

Sophie Oh it's definitely a new favourite! Just meant I've been wearing it for two weeks solid since I bought it and fancy a change for a few days. Grin I'll be straight back to it after that. I think I've become addicted to buying polish.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 18/07/2018 22:02

Enid, thanks, yes I used to do that but got out of the habit. I tend to go into Boots for something else then get drawn to the nail polishes for impulse purchases, I have a bad habit. I sold 40 half used bottles last year and still have at least 30 Blush.

My favourite summery Rimmel 60s colours are Rose Libertine and Instyle Coral (both from a year or two back but I think still available).
