Looking for inspiration on summer nail polishes.
What have been your favourite purchases for nail polish this season?
With links, if possible.
I like some of the minty colours that are around, I have Essie bon boy-age and it's gorgeous.

Shock Who I'm a long way off that many! So I can buy more I've only taught myself how to do my own nails in the past couple of years so I'm a beginner compared to you.

I remember starting a thread a while ago because I wanted to find a matte rose gold nail polish, well I found one, from Claire's of all places. It lasted a decent amount of time (on me) before chipping (outranking my matte nail polishes from Zoya, Essie and Nails Inc) and it's gorgeous! (I did also buy the blue, purple and silver matte ones they do as well.)

I love Essie Cute as a Button and No 7 Coral Crush - both coral colours. I like a classic red in the summer too - have an OPI one I can't remember the name of!

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 10:57

Talisin that mermaid duo is absolutely stunning!

takemyheart · 19/07/2018 11:58

Second the upthread suggestions of Essie Too Too Hot, Watermelon and Meet Me at Sunset. All fabulous. Also Rock the Runway is the BEST red ever.

My ultimate summer colour just has to be OPI Cajun Shrimp, though. It's the most lovely red-y pink-y coral. Lush. (Image clearly stolen from t'internet.).

I love that takemyheart, looks fantastic! I also love darker colours for summer :)

SophieLion · 19/07/2018 12:15

Oooo forgot I have Luxedo! Looks great on your toes TakeMyHeart

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 12:21

I currently have L'Oreal Elegance is Innate (pic nabbed from internet) on my toes with Sally Hansen Disco Ball over the top. I love disco ball, really fine sheer iridescent glitter :).

I've got NYC color in fashion safari on my fingers, but may change it today as a bit bored of it!

Thank you! I love Essie polishes. Good value for money and they have staying power. I use their gel top coat too, which is pricey but worth it IMO.

OPI lasts well too. I don't tend to get on with Rimmel polishes which is annoying as some of their brighter shades are fab.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 18:52

Do you use the Gel Setter top coat? Is that over the top of the Luxedo? It looks excellent.
I've been a die hard Seche Vite fan for years, but Essie is 3 free isnt it, so I've been wondering about switching :)

Rimmel doesn't last on me either, I love Sally Hansen polishes (especially the triple shine ones - the flame shade is fab) and China Glaze for neons and brights.

takemyheart · 19/07/2018 18:59

I use the Gel Couture top coat. White bottle. I think it's the same price as the Gel Setter which I've also used but prefer the finish of the former.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 19:27

That's great thanks, I think I'll give it a go :)

beanaseireann · 19/07/2018 19:30

Rimmel 60 second is brilliant.
I am usually putting on nail varnish as dh goes out the door to the car as we are off to an event and it dries in no time.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 19/07/2018 19:31

I agree about Barry M not wearing well, I only put mine on on Tues morning and the tips are really worn now. I usually get a few more days by running a crystal file around the ends, slightly tipped under, sharpens the edges up nicely.

Went into my local Superdrug today and it was being refitted - Sally Hansen had gone Sad

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 21:22

Whoknows that's frustrating, Sally Hansen are great :(

I've just painted my toes in Revlon optimistic, I haven't worn it for ages but its a great summer colour, pic nabbed from internet again as I cannot seem to take an in focus photo of my own nails!

Coral for me - love Max factor's glossfinity in 'cute coral'.

BusterGonad · 20/07/2018 07:35

What's the secret to Essie polishes? Mine never dry and stay soft!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 20/07/2018 08:10

I use the Essie top coat that is also a quick dry thing - can't remember what it's called. I use it on all my polishes - Essie, OPI, Leighton Denny, No 7, Rimmel, Mavala ... (O might have a bit of a nail polish problem!)

I can normally get 6 days from my polish that way - sometimes have to touch up on day 5 due to tip wear.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 20/07/2018 09:03

Buster I'm not sure as I use Seche Vite and that dries and hardens any polish, I'm not going to try Essies Gel Couture top coat instead so hopefully that works the same.

Without SV my Essie polishes don't dry though.

EnidButton · 20/07/2018 13:03

I do 3 thin coats of Essie and jet each dry for at least 3 mins in between. Also use their quick top coat (Good to Go) as it's very shiny and they last until I take them off after a week. Sometimes get a chip on day 5.

Never had any issues with them drying. Had that with an OPI one once at a salon. I think they'd applied it too thick and it was a hot day.

EnidButton · 20/07/2018 13:03

Let not jet!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 20/07/2018 17:33

That's it, Good to Go!! Tis brilliant!

BusterGonad · 21/07/2018 09:50

I've just ordered Nails Inc unicorn nails and mermaid nails. I like foil type polish as it dries quickly and looks beaut on.

VanGoghsDog · 21/07/2018 10:01

I do base, one coat of colour, SV then OPI quick dry drops. Next day, I do second coat of colour and another SV and quick dry drops.
You do have to live with slightly not great nails for the first day. Lasts a week doing this though.

As for colours, I'm no good, I like them all!
