Multiple ear piercings - help

Clearly Im having a midlife crisis (in my 30s) & I want to jazz up my look. I already have 2 lobe piercings in each ear & considering a few more lobe ones & a helix. How do I know which ear do have the helix in? should I have the same number of multiples in each ear? do I want symmetry or asymmetry?

Anyone I know who has cartilage piercings has different ones in each ear- it looks better when it’s less symmetrical I reckon.

MarklahMarklah · 08/07/2018 21:25

Personally I'd go asymmetry.
I've got three piercings in one lobe, two in the other and a cartilage (upper ear) on the three piercings ear. Looking to get another done in the same ear.

DreamADream · 08/07/2018 21:25

I tend to just get feelings about where I want my piercings to go. Although I do tend to alternate ears for sleeping purposes!

SadieHH · 08/07/2018 21:25

You generally feel which ear is best, I tend to go for my left ear because to me it would feel odd on the right side. So I have three lobe piercings on each side and two helix piercings on the left.

catinboots9 · 08/07/2018 21:30

I have two lobe piercings in one ear, four lobe piercings and two cartilage piercings in the other ear.

Mixture of small, dainty hoops, diamanté studs and pearls. I like the asymmetry.

I'm 38 Grin

Good I’m thinking asymmetry, maybe 3 or 4 lobe ones with 1 helix on the same side & stick to 2 in the other. I think my right would look better with more as I tend to wear my hair to my left.

catinboots9 that’s the look I want.

Thanks ladies!

Sounds good. Oh, and I'm 46 Grin

love it, I was prepared to be told I was too old for such shenanigans!

Yes. Asymmetric.
I have 3 piercings in one lobe and one in the other.
On the ear with 1 piercing, I also have a tragus piercing.

happymummy12345 · 08/07/2018 22:33

I have 2 in each ear lobe and 2 in my left cartilage. My first lobe ones were done when I was a baby. My second ones were done when I was 14. My first cartilage one was done in January 2009, and my second cartilage one was done in May 2009.
I like having 2 in one ear, I'd never get any in my right cartilage. I'd love a third in my lobes, but worry 5 in one ear is too many??

Missbrick1 · 08/07/2018 22:41

5 on one ear, looks nice I think.

Do the cartilage ones hurt & take longer to heal?

OP posts:
stopdropandroll · 08/07/2018 22:42

assymetry definitely! i have 7 + tragus in my left ear and 3 + tragus in my right, all with tiny earrings in so it’s quite subtle. i used to have an industrial in my right and a rook + vertical lobe in my left before all the rim piercings but they were taken out long ago. agree with someone else saying do one side at a time so you can sleep on a side without pain!

i got 3 piercings on one ear + septum on the same day. the ear ones hurt more to get done and took longer to heal. the best advice is not to touch them and try to keep hair away from them, plus get it done with a needle not a gun.

Missbrick1 · 08/07/2018 22:44

yep to needle, my 2nd lobe was done by that method.

avocadosrus · 08/07/2018 22:46

I'm 44 and have 7 in one ear ( lobe, daith & tragus) and 2 in the other personally I really like the look!!

MarthaArthur · 08/07/2018 22:49

Gun is for lobes. Needle for cartlidge. I am getting my helix done twice and some other ones. I already have 4 in each ear and formerly had a forward helix but healing was a bastard so be weary.

Missbrick1 · 08/07/2018 22:58

that is putting me off helix tbf

MarthaArthur · 08/07/2018 23:18

Im still going agead with mine. Just try not to sleep on it or nove it too much and should be ok. Get lots of vitamins in you.

Missbrick1 · 08/07/2018 23:40

i’ve heard zinc is good

OP posts:
MarthaArthur · 08/07/2018 23:49

Zinc is excellent for healing. I have loads of piercings and it is excellent. Salt water and a drop of teatree oil is great to clean it but dint get it too wet.

GrimDamnFanjo · 09/07/2018 01:04

I have these:
X 2 lobe
Left ear: x2 conch X1 top flat of ear
Right ear: forward helix, middle helix, lower helix

I would go to a good piercer and discuss your placements. Not all ears can have all piercings, anatomy can dictate! That way you can plan for future piercings properly.
Bear in mind you should not have more than 3 at once!
I recommend Nicolle at Love Hate Social Club and Bex at Holier Than Thou (Manchester)
Cartilage piercings take at least 6 months.
A good experienced piercer will reduce pain during the piercing via their technique and help heal you quicker by using the right size bar in the earring.

I love my piercings. I had the first one at 45! I am currently sporting hundreds of pounds worth of earrings though, some of the designs out there are stunning!

GrimDamnFanjo · 09/07/2018 01:09

Nicole is in London.
I'm already planning my next but I need my latest two to have healed first.

Missbrick1 · 09/07/2018 07:17

Thanks, yes the cost of all the pretty jewellery certainly adds up!
