Are these shorts really unflattering?

Forever in search of a pair of shorts that fit me right. Popped into Jack Wills today a shame normally they have lovely items in stock there.
I bought these shorts, in my usual size 8. Took them home and didn't try them on as I buy quite a lot from there and was confident about sizing.
Just tried them on, expecting them to be fitted everywhere. However, the shorts are really loose around the groin area! Almost baggy?! This is particularly noticeable when you walk in them. Is there anyway I could fix this, or are these shorts just now made for me!? I definitely couldn't go down a size, as they would be too tight on the waist.
Here's a picture of them.

I think they look nice on you actually. You look better in them than the model on the website. I always favour the fatface chino shorts. They come in many colours and are fitted but not clingy. Though FF isn’t the height of fashion.
