I mean WTF? Has the world gone mad? I would rather go naked than wear a nylon smocky thing in a garish 70's print. Where can i find decent grown-up clothes this year?[sob]

Oh thank you....count me in.

Everything is so horrible atm. At least it's saving me money though. Awful awful fashions atm.

PartyClown · 23/05/2007 23:32

And leggings are back, who thought THAT was a good idea?

LaDiDaDi · 23/05/2007 23:32

F... knows but if you do find out please tell me!

It's bad enough finding casual clothes but trying to find something that looks smart for work is a mighty pita.

Malaleche · 23/05/2007 23:34

Went round my favourite shop today and there was not ONE item i would have been pleased to get for nothing...

i really like the smock things - great for hiding my flabby belly. love the prints too. i never would have considered wearing them before but they've really grown on me.

leggins on the other hand. omg i am so over theose.

there are lots of shirts and linen trousers about atm. would they be ok for work?

TinyGang · 23/05/2007 23:35

I hate those vile 70's wallpaper patterns on eveything. And as for those smockey tops...belurch, with the leggings which look dreadful on everyone no matter what shape they are....

mrsflowerpot · 23/05/2007 23:37

everyone looks pregnant this summer unless they are 17 and stick thin.

and I decided leggings were a Bad Thing last time round, when I was 17 and stick thin..

wrinklytum · 23/05/2007 23:39

LOL.I am a size 10/12 and look hideous in a smock top. Also remember the 80's my teenage years not much better then...

Malaleche · 23/05/2007 23:42

When is someone going to invent something new? The last 15 years it's just been revival after revival and always of the tackiest, least flattering stuff.

malaleche - these clothes are fab for me! - being big & preg!

AnneJones · 24/05/2007 10:37

Darlings, darlings. Style never goes out of fashion....

This season has definitely reminded me why I don't bother to follow fashion. Awful. Saving pennies for autumn in the hopes of better stuff in the shops.

JoolsToo · 24/05/2007 10:41

Agree - I'm with ya!

ediemay · 24/05/2007 10:44

I agree - 70s curtain fabric with bad bust darts is not a good look

Kathyis6incheshigh · 24/05/2007 10:45

No fashion in the Boden catalogue

ledodgy · 24/05/2007 10:46

It is definately the best time to be pregnant no maternity tops needed!

WelshBoris · 24/05/2007 10:53

You must be looking in the wrong shops, it's not all about tunic tops

Leggings are fab

City shorts are still great

Metallics

Maxi dresses

I've seen some gorgeous dresses, short or to be worn over jeans.

Loads of stuff if you look

TinyGang · 24/05/2007 15:56

Maxi dresses make me think of Abigails Party.

sidge · 24/05/2007 16:21

God I so agree with you.

Let's be honest leggings were bad enough first time around, and time hasn't improved them.

And as for those smock tops they make anyone look pregnant unless they are a size -4. Yuk.

micegg · 24/05/2007 21:37

Have a look at Dorothy Perkins website. They have (in my opinion) some nice non smock type clothes.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 24/05/2007 21:43

It's the paintpot colors I think people will soon regret. The bright yellow and poster paint green! I remember last year when they started sneaking in via the shoe shops - I thought they were shoes for misguided trannies!
However I do like the cropped legging sunder strapless prom dress look. Don't care if I'm over 25 and I wear it to pick up DD from pre-school - it's a showstopper and you don't get strapmarks!
But you realise we are all just old and complaining about the youth of today!

Blondilocks · 24/05/2007 21:44

I like leggings - they are soo comfy for slouching around in but feel a bit more dressed up than jogging bottoms or jeans.

I like the long tops, but some are just hideous - tried on one which made my norks look like a shelf & made my stomach look like I was 9 months pregnant

& dislike some of the yukky patterns too & yellow. Saw a lovely dress today, except that it was only available in white or yellow. YUK.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 24/05/2007 21:47

Actually if this season's fashion means the demise of jogging bottoms and JLo velour tracksuits with writing on the bum, I'm all for it.

lucykate · 24/05/2007 21:49

maxi dresses look too much like going out in a nightie
