I don't want to look expensive in the summer but I would like some new cotton dresses. Any nice ones around?

Looking for proper old fashioned 'sundress' type dresses, if anybody has seen any.

Also in the market for cotton or viscose culottes or a cotton or viscose cropped culotte type jumpsuit, if anybody has seen anything.

Finally, cotton cardigans - not too long, and in a good range of colours.

I'm too scruffy to ever look 'expensive' but I would like to look 'not too hot and bothered'.

I posted a similar thread a couple of days ago.

This dress from NEXT is a linen blend and seems to be popular, shift dresses don't really work for me. I prefer the cotton pocket or slub dress.

Dotty P have lots but again they are rather blah.

Zara has some good options, as does Mango. I particularly like their shirt dresses.

I'm quite tempted by this ultimate tshirt dress from ASOS but would prefer it in blue (it's also available in red which is tempting) I do like ASOS for the sheer variety of dresses, makes me realise what kind of dress I really want. I'm also strangely drawn to this balloon dress even though I'm far too short for it. Pockets though!

one from Asda George is nice

I followed @CountFosco's link and found this lovely dress on the Mango website. I don't have a Mango near me but have seen lots of lovely things on their website recently.

Laura Ashley have several nice cotton or linen traditional sundresses like this:

Thank you.

I like a couple on the Mango site, and would never have thought of looking there.

I have been eyeing up this one!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/06/2018 19:27

I'm looking for a 'sundress' shape, I think.

This sort of thing but without the cut out back

I'd have loved that white one at 18, but it would most certainly not love me now!

There are lots of cotton dresses (both short and midi length) in Gap at the moment. Quite cheap particularly as they always have 30% off. Like this one [[http://www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1078156&pcid=57372&vid=1&pid=000328126002 which comes in lots of colours]] and [[http://www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1040054&pcid=57372&vid=1&pid=000348970002 this one quite pretty]] there are lots to choose from I think.

I always struggle to find cotton dresses. Otherwise look in Other Stories, Toast (sale just started) and Mango.

LadySerenaCarlow · 16/06/2018 19:33

Sorry Link fail. I have that Zara dress too. (have way too many sundresses proportionate to the amount of sunny days...)

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 16/06/2018 19:35

this looks nice too but didn't see it in store.

cutthegraa · 16/06/2018 19:38

White stuff have some really nice ones. Fat face too, and that isn't somewhere I would usually think to look.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/06/2018 19:38

LOVE that black Warehouse one. Will definitely go and try that on.

People Tree have some nice dresses in. I have a few summer dresses from a few years ago and they have worn/washed well.

tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Gingham-Embroidered-Dress/133220701

I bought this recently and I think it's really pretty, plus comfy. I'm 5ft, so it's more a midi dress on me Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/06/2018 19:48

The Sainsbo's gingham one is pretty, but I don't 'do' blue!
Nothing jumping out at me on PT.

AlbertaSimmons · 16/06/2018 20:05

Dandelion what's the People Tree sizing like?

DandelionAndBedrock · 16/06/2018 20:53

Alberta I find the narrow cut stuff needs a size up, but everything else is fairly true to size. Not overly generous on hips, but I have a massive arse so nothing is overly generous on me!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/06/2018 21:57

Ella - yes, that's gorgeous. Love the red shirt dress too.

There’s a gorgeous white broderie dress in Sainsburys at the moment. Pure cotton and a traditional sundress shape. Cheap and lovely!

HeatedCatFurniture · 16/06/2018 22:09

Have you tried Uniqlo? Lots of their dresses have the annoying integrated bra but I am fairly sure you could just cut it out.
