I’m going to blow your mind - teeth stains

So I’ve been really ill the last few days. Looked in the mirror this morning and I look shockingly bad. I’m due a trip to the hygienist in a months time but my teeth were looking a little stained in places( even though I stick to herbal tea nowadays) and I was all ugh about it.

I was pondering whether I should dig out my Colgate whitening strips when i suddenly thought of my magic eraser that gets rid of every stain in the house. I decided to google using it on your teeth and people actually do it so I thought I’d give it a go. I tore off a tiny bit, wet it and clamped inbetween some tweezers and incredibly lightly just brushed it over the stained areas. I swear the stains just came right off. How mad is that!! I’m not saying anyone should go mad with it and rub away their enamel but honestly it’s worked better in three servings than anyone of the toothpastes that threaten to remove stains (and don’t).

Are the sponges really made of melamine? If so, it is poisonous isn’t it. Didn’t babies die in China because there was melamine in their powdered milk? Also on the sponges it says that if you use it to clean something that is in contact with food you should wash the pan etc thoroughly afterwards. There is no way I would put one in my mouth!

SleepFreeZone · 30/05/2018 21:21

MyDog if that’s correct those poor babies would have would have been ingesting large quantities over time surely. I’m not sure that’s comparable although it’s a fair point?

Oh the irony of a sensodyne advert under this thread! Going to grab a magic sponge on my way to brush my teeth.

taybert · 30/05/2018 21:44

I’ve got a Kia Sportage advert. Should I clean my teeth with one of those?

VanillaSugar · 30/05/2018 22:10

I’ve got Sensodyne Pro Enamel now Shock

goingtotown · 30/05/2018 22:29

Those magic sponges are good to use on dull yellowing headlights. This was a tip from the garage body repairer.

villageshop · 30/05/2018 22:36

What magic eraser exactly? What brand, where to buy? I've never heard of it before this thread but it sounds amazing.

OyO · 30/05/2018 22:48

Best thread EVER

Ellapaella · 30/05/2018 23:03

Can the student dentist please some back to explain why they should never be used on teeth?

LilMadAgain · 30/05/2018 23:12

Ella, because she'll have to reconsider her profit margin if people start whitening their teeth at home lol

Midthreademergencynamechange · 31/05/2018 03:45

You don't have to flush wet wipes to be causing environmental damage with them! The ignorance is sometimes just astounding.

Shadow666 · 31/05/2018 03:53

I agree, it very wasteful to use wet wipes for cleaning.

Shadow666 · 31/05/2018 03:55

Also, I don’t think there is much variation in the different brands of magic erasers. I buy them in the pound shop and they are fine.

Candyflip · 31/05/2018 04:07

What those magic erasers that contain formaldehyde? Yeah great idea! I think the vapours may have already done your brain in.

Karmin · 31/05/2018 04:28

Formaldehyde is not and has never been an ingredient in Magic Eraser. One ingredient in Magic Eraser (formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite copolymer) contains the word “formaldehyde” in its chemical name. However, this ingredient is not formaldehyde and poses no health or safety risks. (Think of this name like “sodium chloride”, which is table salt. Sodium by itself can be dangerous, but sodium chloride – salt – is safe.).

Bluesheep8 · 31/05/2018 06:16

Yep, I've got a pop up ad for toothpaste too. Scary.

VanillaSugar · 31/05/2018 06:53

I’ve got FitFlops now. Can I clean my leather shoes with a magic erasor?

Violetroselily · 31/05/2018 06:57

I have an advert for a dental implant specialist

Presumably for when my magic sponge has destroyed all my teeth?

hugoagogo · 31/05/2018 07:09

I use my magic eraser thingies for cleaning the rubber bits on converse.
Tempted by the teeth thing though.Blush

Ohyesiam · 31/05/2018 07:27

The adverts at the bottom of my page often mirror the thread
title/Contents . Is that not the same with everyone? Is big brother watching only meShock

SleepFreeZone · 31/05/2018 07:42

I wonder how many people tried this yesterday or are planning a purchase to try today??! Shock

Mrs9C · 31/05/2018 11:09

Brilliant! Away to try it! I always thought they were chemical too, until recently when I read the packet, it's only sponge, no chemicals!

VanillaSugar · 31/05/2018 19:22

I am going to the dentist on Monday so I’ll ask her about it. I may even live MN during my checkup, scale and polish.
